... Frankie is a 2014 Impala, being leased because the miles will be low (he'll only be used for A] carting the parents around and B] extreme foul weather). He is the replacement for Elizabeth, our 2004 Jaguar X-Type, which was beginning to go the way of all Jaguars. Elizabeth had replaced Lindsey, our beloved 1999 Chrysler 300M, so Frankie is somewhat of an Ivelis and John return to a big American front-wheel drive car with a V6.

For those that care, this is what Chevrolet calls the 2LTZ. 2 means it has the 305 bhp LFX 3.6 liter V6 and LTZ is the highest trim level. The exterior color is Blue Ray Metallic and the interior is Jet Black/Mojave, with "leather-appointed" seat trim.

Why Frankie, you ask? The launch commercial for the 2014 Impala used Sinatra's Fly Me To The Moon, so Frankie was an easy and quick choice.

Very nice! I really do like what they did with the Impala. They were very cool cars back in the day....especially the SS cars with 4 speeds.....

I do wish they would have opted for a new Impala SS with the LS3 up front and rear wheel drive but not to be.....

Congrats and enjoy......

Nice ride, John! The new Impala is very sharp.

Marcus, you could always get the new SS sedan:

Hey, whatever works for you. Thanks for the good wishes - it is kind of weird to be leasing. The full Ivelis and John list:

Remington - black 1995 Honda Civic EX coupe

Lindsey - black 1999 Chrysler 300M PHP sedan

Grace - red 2003 50th Anniversary Chevrolet Corvette convertible

Lauren - blue 1985 Chevrolet Corvette Z51 coupe

Elizabeth - green 2004 Jaguar X-Type Sport sedan

Louis - black 2012 Centennial Edition Chevrolet Corvette coupe

Frankie - blue 2014 Chevrolet Impala LTZ sedan

For the first time ever, we are an all Chevrolet family.

Ya Brad...I hope that works for GM.....it being from down under and only 4000 being brought over for sale....The Impala SS would be carrying on the big sedan with a killer V8 up front from the olden days, but alas the Imps are front wheel drive.....Now they do have a 420 hp Turbo motor that is in the new CTS (which I see is MT's car of the year)....so maybe there is still hope.....is the CTS front wheel drive?

I like the look of the Impala better then the SS body style.......but thats just me.....

The Impala is based on the same Epsilon II architecture as the front wheel drive (all wheel drive optional) Cadillac XTS, which is also getting the LF3 twin turbocharged V6, rated at 410 bhp in that application. So, there's no reason Chevrolet couldn't put a version of that engine into the Impala. I'm happy with my 305 bhp, but maybe there's a market for the LF3 - I'll bet Chevrolet is watching the take rate for the up-rated engine in the XTS.

My wife sometimes calls Lauren "the 29-year old girlfriend".

Nice ride...I would consider one of those. Marcus, the CTS is rear wheel drive. Of course they have the CTS-V which has the supercharged LS engine (not sure of the designation, LSV maybe?), 550hp or in that range.

I don't name the cars, we got "The Caddy", "The Vette" and "The Pickup".

LQ9 I think is the CTS-V motor.

The new 2014 CTS does not yet have a V spec, but it does have a V-Sport, which has a 430hp TT V6.

No word on the V spec yet...
