I would suggest Al Knoch. IIRC, he supplies everyone...

Not quite, Andy.
Corvette America supplies many vendors and they make all their own product.

Al's been sending sone stuff overseas (so I've heard).

That being said, guys doing restorations are split between Al and Corvette America.

C/A's door panels are supposed to be the best available.

Be prepared for your jaw to drop when you see the price. There is a company in Texas importing them from China now for less than 1/2 price...not always a fan of "hecho en China" but that's a huge gap in pricing.

A chinaman with enough experience can stitch a seat together just the same, but what about the quality of materials?

I'm in the market for new seat covers and foams in the next 6 months or so. And after I get the new covers on my next step is probably to cut big holes through the back of them for routing a 5-6pt harness.

The Chinese ones have gotten good reviews online. Not just for vettes - they sell them for any car. Take a look for yourself.

I went to a local upholsterer. He ordered the leather and covered the seats. He did both my vettes and one of my 911's. They look like it came out of the factory but it did cost me a grand for both seats. The leather was about half the price. Vinyl comes out a lot cheaper and can look almost as good as the leather and is supposedly more durable. Just a thought.

Hopefully the replacement covers don't use the same reclaimed yak skin as the originals ;-)

I have a good upholsterer to use. Been doing it 30 years and is a friend. But even he told me the cost to fix my seats would be excessive. He said buy the Chinese seat covers and he would install them for me and fix any imperfections.

Also, when I do new covers, the center section will be perforated. Not stock/factory, but much more comfortable especially with black seats.

Better see if they can make the seat foams out of this stuff, then ;-)

Do you have issues with the non-perforated? Sweating back or sticking to you? I wasn't sure whether to go with perforated again or not. I have it now and it just seems like a starting point for frays/tears.

It seems like most cars do not have perforations nowadays.

I prefer the concealed option. Then I can sit anywhere without disturbing the peace. And it's reusable. I heard california is considering requiring these in metro areas.

Kevin - my back sweats a lot in the summer with the solid leather, that's why I want perforated.

Kelly - lots of people have dyed their seats. Are you seats damaged/torn or faded or you just don't like the color?

ALL seat cover sare NOT the same in color or quality.
My 84 has Medium Grey which in 84 was a silver leather. Mid America did not recognize this and the seat covers they sent were grey instead and they had a MAJOR attitude about me being wrong and them being correct when I know darn well mine were original and came silver. Mid America also claimed theirs had the "correct density" foam but it was super hard and incorrect.
Funny thing is> Corvette America knew darn well there was a difference and supplied the CORRECT silver color! :-D
I also found that no one seems to have a "decent" density foam> all seem to be rock hard and even after 10 years my replacement foam in the passenger seat hasn't worn in like they claim will happen. (75% of the time I have a passenger so its not like it never gets used). The new foam was SO Rock HARD that after a few months I switched the new foam in the drivers seat with my now 30 year old foam I'm still using just so I'd sit IN the seat instead of floating ON TOP!
If anyone really needs new foam because the old stuff is trashed I'd say buy some used in decent shape on ebay and recover it with new covers which is super easy.
;-)

We are looking into recovering our 1990's seats. I requested leather swatches from several companies. So far, out of Corvette America, ZIP and Mid America Motorsports.....we would go with Corvette America. The leather is thick, supple and the color looks closest to original to us. Still waiting on Al Knochs and Ecklers samples. Cost is looking like it will be in the neighborhood of $1100 for the skins and new foam and we have a local biz that will install them for $325.

Just saw a notice that Paragon Reproductions is offering a pre-mounted leather seat-cover kit. "The kit contains both left- and right-side seat covers (in your choice of black, lite gray, red, blue, saddle, Flame Red, white and lite beige), which come professionally mounted on brand-new foam."

The restoration guys use a lot of Corvette America, Zip's are Corvette America.

I like the fact that they are made in the U.S.

I'll be using them for a complete interior on the 67.

IIRC, those are also Corvette America.
