Good Morning CGs!

Well the month of February is half over. Hard to believe. I am ready for it to be completely over, though, because we are that much closer to spring. This snow and cold is driving me crazy. It has gotten to the point that when I see the negative temperature on the dashboard in the morning it doesn't phase me anymore. Crazy.

I am getting the itch to do some Corvette projects but I have other stuff to finish around the house, first. Finish the mudroom cabinet sanding and painting, put up a shelf, fix the washing machine. It was not spinning and I took it apart and found that the tub seal leaked (for some time) and water got on the bearing to the transmission shaft and ruined it. I have to order some parts and then it's probably 4-5 hours labor to fix everything. We'll see.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

I'm learning about electronics and wireless devices. Working on setting up a floating TV that works wirelessly off the computer. If I get that set up I will put a 50" smart TV in the living room with a sound bar. That way I'll have media presentations available wherever I want to sit around the house. Could just get a Genie and a couple more receivers but I hate paying those ba$+@rds more than I have to every month. I'll be able to stream music vids, movies or TV shows with a wireless media player to the TVs. Uverse isn't available here. Anyway .... That's how I'm wasting my day. Thinking of how to beat the cable company.

Well I'm up and have the car loaded. Rosie wasn't in a huge hurry to get away, telling her folks we'd be there after lunch, so we'll leave here pretty soon. Got the Corvette off the lift and loaded, so I'm ready. catch you guys later.

Howdy! I was planning to sleep in a little longer, but the phone rang. I looked at the caller ID, and it just said "Washington, DC". I figure it was Obama. Oh well, looks like I'll get a little earlier start on installing baseboard trim. Meanwhile, there's a 90% chance we'll get "less than an inch" of snow today. We'll see how accurate the weather geniuses are.

Have a good day, yawlz!

Geez I went back to bed and the dog had to wake me because he had to go out.....goood dog.....I think....now I'm up a ready to get some of that Green Mountain in me and head on out to uncover the car. Last night Ultradog caught 2 half grown racoons out stealing cat food in the shop...I ran got the .22 while he kept them busy....they both were under my GS and he would not go under the car to get after them. He continued to raise a fuss around the car and I went in to get a broom handle to see if I could get them out....just as I was about to give it a try one of the two broke for the open door and all hell broke lose...

There was this big furball of 2 racoons and my fiesty Yorkie right in the middle of it....going round and round like in the cartoons.....then out the door and I was hoping he would tree them and I'd get a shot but they kept going with him on their heels.....that's what we do for fun around here....that and we........nevermind....

Raccoons look cute as long as they're not on my property. They are some nasty, stinky little critters. Same with opossum. Both have some mean incisors. We're not a killers but relocators. Set the trap, wait for the results and go for a ride to the west. Every once and awhile one will lose their head to a machete thanks to the crew.

COONS ARE VERY DESTRUCTIVE, THEY HAVE THE MANUAL DEXTERITY OF MONKEYS, AND LIKE MONKEYS WHAT THEY DON'T BREAK THEY SHIT ON. HAD A MAJOR COON INVASION A WHILE BACK, AFTER MY BIRD FEEDERS. AFTER EXILING ABOUT NINE ACROSS THE NEOSHO RIVER I JUST STARTED SHOOTING THEM IN THE TRAP TO SAVE GAS. SOME I POPPED OUT THE PATIO DOOR AT NIGHT. ONE NIGHT I DIDN'T NOTICE THE CAT ASLEEP ON THE LOVESEAT BY THE DOOR, UNTIL I FIRED THE .410 AND A GRAY STREAK WENT BY HEADING FOR THE CAT DOOR. THE CAT HAS NEVER SLEPT ON THE LOVE SEAT SINCE. :-)

Good afternoon, all!

Light snow in the Philadelphia area today, but doesn't look like anything serious. I'm really ready for the end of winter and a chance to get the 1985 down and prep it.

Today is the twentieth anniversary of Ivelis' and my first date. We're going to the same (fairly romantic) restaurant in the city that we went to all those years ago.

I'm more of a Wendy's guy (we called it Le Wendi's in high school).

For those that actually want to know, the place is called Friday Saturday Sunday and is the last remaining restaurant from the early 1970s "Restaurant Revolution", the point at which decent food actually became available when you went out to eat in Philadelphia.

NO WAY YOU CAN SCARE THEM OFF, THEY'RE BOLD LITTLE DEVILS. NONE OF MY TRANS-NEOSHO EXILES EVER CAME BACK THAT I KNOW OF. I TURNED THEM LOOSE NEAR A CAMP GROUND SO EVERYONE COULD SHARE THE ENTERTAINMENT.

MY GARDEN GUN IS A .410, THE GROUND HERE IS TOO ROCKY AND THE NEIGHBORS TOO CLOSE TO USE A .22. ALSO EASIER TO HIT WITH AT NIGHT. FOR TRAP EXECUTIONS A .22 BETWEEN THE WIRES DOES THE TRICK. WITH THE TRAP YOU DON'T HAVE TO SIT UP AT NIGHT AND WAIT FOR THEM, JUST GO OUT AND DISPOSE OF THEM IN THE MORNING.

Made it to the in-laws, I've had a nice nap. Mom looks pretty good but her mind is slipping. Rosie's sister has been here for an hour or so, she and Rosie have been out for a walk and now they are playing a game with mom and dad. Dad is doing pretty well, but it is taking it's toll.

That looks like a great project, Bill!

I have most of the trim done in the kitchen. I decided to try a new trick for inside corners. Years ago, my father-in-law taught me to put one piece into the corner straight, then cut the other at a 45-degree angle, and then to cut out the profile of the angled piece with a coping saw, along the profile face line. This allows you to compensate for corners that are not quite true. I always struggled to cope a straight line on the flat-faced portion of baseboard. So I thought, why not just flip the piece over and cut the flat part with my miter saw, and stop when the profile starts to curve at the top? Worked like a charm, and leaves much less to cope by hand.

I've used a similar trick, Brad. I'll use a scroll saw to cope when the board is small enough.

I've used a similar trick, Brad. I'll use a scroll saw to cope when the board is small enough.

I figured, you're a pro at this ;-)

After a brief nap and dinner, I knocked off the dinette and powder room. I bought a little cheapie Air Locker pin nailer earlier this week - works great, and even came with a rebuild kit. Reviews say it will probably need a rebuild after 50,000 nails. I imagine I will be long dead before this thing sees 50,000 nails.

fix the washing machine. It was not spinning and I took it apart and found that the tub seal leaked (for some time) and water got on the bearing to the transmission shaft and ruined it. I have to order some parts and then it's probably 4-5 hours labor to fix everything. We'll see.

Matthew

I can fix that in less than two hours .......... with a trip to a local appliance retailer.

$25 in parts and my time vs $600+ for a new washer. Unless you're offering to buy me a new one
