Good morning gang.

Cold here this morning temps in the low 20's and should be a nice day with sunshine and temps getting to the low to mid 30's.

Happy birthday Indiana. 198th.

Word of the Day Thursday, December 11, 2014

prithee\ PRITH-ee \, interjection;

1. Archaic . (I) pray thee.

Origin:

Prithee entered in English in the late 1500s as a shortening and alteration of the phrase "I pray thee."

Today is NATIONAL NOODLE RING DAY

Across the country, December 11 annually celebrates National Noodle Ring Day.

National Noodle Ring Day could possibly be about the little round pasta noodles that make up a delicious pasta salad or a number of other pasta dishes or that kids (of all ages) love to use in different craft projects, including gluing them together to make snowflakes, which is perfect for this time of year.

However, a noodle ring, which has a huge number of fans across the country, is actually a popular pasta dish, created in a 8 or 9 inch ring mold, typically made up of noodles, flour, breadcrumbs, cheese and eggs as its main ingredients. When baked, the noodle ring is then removed from the mold, onto a plate giving it a high rating in appearance as well as taste.

To celebrate National Noodle Ring Day, try your skills with making a noodle ring from one of the following “tried and true” noodle ring recipes and have a Happy National Noodle Ring Day!

UNICEF BIRTHDAY

The United Nations Children’s Fund is a United Nations Program headquartered in New York City that provides long-term humanitarian and developmental assistance to children and mothers in developing countries. It is one of the members of the United Nations Development Group and its Executive Committee.

UNICEF was created by the United Nations General Assembly on December 11, 1946, to provide emergency food and healthcare to children in countries that had been devastated by World War II. Ludwik Rajchman, a Polish bacteriologist, is regarded as the founder of UNICEF and was its first chairman from 1946 to 1950. In 1953, UNICEF became a permanent part of the United Nations System and its name was shortened from the original United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund but it has continued to be known by the popular acronym based on this previous title.

INTERNATIONAL MOUNTAIN DAY

International Mountain Day is celebrated annually on December 11.

International Mountain Day is an opportunity to create awareness about the importance of mountains to life, to highlight the opportunities and constraints in mountain development and to build partnerships that will bring positive change to the world’s mountains and highlands.

This year, the theme for International Mountain Day is Mountain Farming. Here we have an opportunity to raise awareness about how mountain agriculture, which is predominantly family farming, has been a model for sustainable development for centuries.

International Mountain Day 2014 provides an occasion to highlight how family farming in mountain regions is undergoing rapid transformation due to population growth, economic globalization, urbanization and the migration of men and youth to urban areas.

At the same time, these changes can provide opportunities for local development. People who reside in mountain areas can diversify their income by engaging activities such as tourism, high value mountain products and handicrafts. An enabling policy environment that includes tailored investments could improve farmers’ access to resources and increase their capacity to generate income.

The theme links to the International Year of Family Farming 2014 proclaimed by the General Assembly of the United Nations, as well as the International Programme on Research and Training on Sustainable Management of Mountain Areas (IPROMO) course on mountain family farming, and the FAO/MP publication ‘Mountain Farming is Family Farming’.

Good Morning CGs!

More dreary weather here. Seems like we can't get out of the slump. Supposedly it will be 50 on Sunday. We'll see.

Still no luck finding winter tires for the Audi. The search continues.

MIL is sick, wife isn't feeling too well herself. There is a nasty flu/cold going around here so let's hope the rest of the family stays healthy.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Hubba hubba Guru's.......my head cold and sinus infection is on its way out....the drugs did the job....Amoxicillin and Clavulanate potassium tablets.....which are big enough to choke a horse......but feeling much better today.

Ordered some stuff for the Corvette awhile back and nothing has showed up yet. I am going to take the engine covers off and run naked in the engine bay. Got the stuff from Kaltech.......

Bought another truck yesterday and a big liquid trailer.....this one is an ugly truck but will do a great job getting in and out of tight places. Pics as soon as I can get some. 2006 Kenworth T800 with a Roadranger 18 speed with shift assist and a 450 Cat engine.
The truck has a clutch but then the servos take over and shift the truck automatically........I drove it quite a bit and really liked it. put it in drive and let off the clutch and let it do the rest. Very nice, especially for folks who have not driven much. Lot of big companies going to them because of the ease of getting new drivers in them.

Ok its time to rock.....have a safe day Guru's.....

Busy day here. Started with another early morning meeting, then really busy all day with the kids. Our b-ball team left early as they played an early game in a tourney. Started at 3pm. We have a deal where there is a local guy who broadcasts all the games over The High School Sports Network. Our internet was /is really laggy today, so watching the game was frustrating. My GS played pretty well, he had a double double. 21 points and I'm not sure how many rebounds, 15-20. They won by 12, by hitting freethrows down the stretch.

Time to head home.
