As another year comes to a close ..............

My wife has a delivery today to Miami Beach. Yesterday she was saying (on more than one occasion) I guess I'll leave the guys at the nursery and do the delivery myself. (followed by silence) Of course this is where I was supposed to chime in and volunteer to go with her. On her third mention of it I finally caved and said I would go with her. So that's my plan for the morning and early afternoon. Go for a ride and help unload the plants. By then I'll figure out what I'll do with the afternoon. I do have a nursery that needs grass cutting. Should really get that done. I'm on a relaxed and mellow pace right now. (till someone special notices and does what they can alter that mindset)

Up early with kids headed back to work and big rigs leaving.....cold here and beginning to snow.....lovely....

Back to work while farmers need to spend money before the first of the year or give it to Uncle Sam......send me a signed check and I will take care of it I tell them.......not many takers on that.....

It's a balmy 4 degrees this morning - a light windbreaker or sweater is in order. Light traffic - looks like a lot of folks took the week off. As delighted as I was to hear the alarm clock this morning, I wish I'd been one of them.

Morning guys...cold here too, 13 on my thermometer. I'll take Rosie to work and then I'll go check out the school shop, if there is an open bay, I might try to get the Corvette down there and swap shifters.

ARGH ! I had this all typed up and when I hit submit I got some sort of error message about not being able to read the format.

Anyways, woke up to a "nice" coating of frost this morning, looked more like fall than winter.

We went out to see the all new Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert on Friday night. Absolutely stunning production, words alone can't describe it.

Looks like it is going to be a nice quiet week here in the old salt mine.

Well guys, there was an opening in the auto shop, so I gathered my tools and went down and swapped the shifters. I guess it wasn't as bad as I was anticipating. Christmas for the Corvette was the new Core Shifter, CAGS defeat plug and new high flow air filters. The filters aren't here yet.

Ken, someday I'm going to go to one of those concerts, they are just never very close to me. Denver, Kansas City, OKC seem to be the closest.

Made the delivery and on the way back I had Sue stop by a dealership. Just so happened to be the same dealership where my FIL bought his Vert. Got to see and hear it. I looked at a couple of Suburbans on the certified lot. 2014 Tahoe LTZ was too steep for our budget. They wanted $49,900 and it was the short body. Found a 2012 Suburban LT2 with 29k miles for $32,900. We offered a final price of $30,500. No deal. They would only budge $650. The Suburban is a want, not a need. If I find the right one for the right price we'll jump on it. Instead of napping I'm going price shopping.

Week 2 of Xmas break

Why did Microsoft do away with the Easy Transfer wizard in Windows 8.1? What was an easy deal was made terribly hard. Been working on this for 4 hours and just now got it going. What a PITA......I tried to get them to find a computer with Win7.......

Spent most of the afternoon talking with one of the boys that I had in class that graduated last year. Home from school for Christmas break. It was good to talk to him. He's one of those that I believe will be a friend forever. I know that sounds sappy, but we really have a connection. In the last 35 years I've only had that connection about 4 times and in all cases we are still friends to this day. Makes you feel good that you influence and inspire someone like that. Not that the young man needed a lot of influence, he was one of those boys that had his feet on the ground and knew what he wanted from the start. We chatted about his school, my school year classes that he took under me, my Corvette, his pickup and just life in general. almost 4 hours worth.
