You need help this weekend? I may be around sunday.
I looks like tighting the PP down with the disc in backwards could possibly damage it if it pushes on the center of the clutch. You didn't do that did you? |

no... the pressure plate was installed correctly. The hub was into the flywheel... it's just a different look to me.
All the numbers align, so to speak. This is the right part, apparently. NelsonV is coming over Saturday. That's the plan at least... you are more then welcome to stop over if you want, tho. |

latest and greatest.
Jim at Power Torque Systems came through - AGAIN! This time, new pressure plate bolts. I got the clutch installed yesterday, the transmission is up, too. Tonight, test fire and make sure it all works. Then reinstall the c-beam, drive shaft and exhaust. whew... |

I will!
Installing the transmission is not a one person job... at least not on a driveway with seams and creases and such! It took me the best part of 90 minutes just to wrestle the trans into place and draw it in with 4 of the 5 bolts (the top one will wait until I do the test! Ok... before I bolt this bitch up once and for all... and niggle... When I was oiling the transmission, a plastic nipple on the end of the hose broke off and fell into the transmission. I am going to try and fish it out with a pair of needle nose pliers... my thinking is that it's soft plastic, and if it does get into the gears, it will be so much confetti... should I worry? |

It's a tight area where the fill is, I wonder if it would even fall down. You'd almost need a dental vaccuum to really get ahold of it. I'm not sure how to see in there let alone retrieve something. I bet it will make its way to the bottom after spinning the drivetrain a bit in different gears. Of course they swim in the oil, so driving it could scoop it up into somewhere you don't want it.
Honestly I don't like that trans jack of yours. It goes nice and low, but isn't as maneuverable as the small HF one that goes directly underneath the trans with 4 caster wheels. Here you go, the fill plug is next to the clustergear, or whatever it's called on this 6 speed. It rotates opposite the engine rotation. So get it in reverse gear with Tamiza on the clutch and rotate your tires forward. Or put it in forward gears and spin the tires backward. |

yea... I'm with you at this point... let the damned thing get chewed up. It's plastic, against hardened steel gears. I will change the oil in 3 weeks... that way the plastic won't get into the syncro's...

It's tight, of course... the pedal needs bled, I think... otherwise, it's fine. yay! Fine! Drive in was without drama or stalls, I think all is good... |
