I was sitting in the drive-thru waiting for my food last night, engine idling in drive, foot on the brake, when the seat began to move backward into the egress position.
It was kinda spooky. Anyone encounter this? Ive never had this happen before nor heard of it either (but then I didn't really look). NBV [PS: First C5 tech post!] |

OH YEAH...IT DID IT TO ME ONCE ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO...TURNED OUT IT WAS THE MEMORY SWITCH....I FOUGHT WITH FIGURING IT OUT FOR ALMOST A MONTH B4 JUST PUTTING IN A SWITCH & IT HAS BEEN FINE SINCE...ALTHOUGH IT COULD BE SOME KIND OF POWER ISSUE BECAUSE THE EASY EXIT OPTION DOESEN'T HAPPEN UNTIL IGNITION IS TURNED OFF OR THE BUTTON IS PRESSED...GOOD LUCK NELSON

Did you take all of your meds? Could you be having a flashback from your free-wheeling, psychoactive days of experimentation with controlled substances?
If you have any issues getting in and out of a C5, then it's time to start picking out your nursing home..... |

Nothing out of the ordinary happened except for the seat going back. And my hands were nowhere near any of the buttons or controls. I'm gonna check the codes tonight and see if anything got stored (SCM or BCM).
Thanks- Nelson V. |

[I actually figured this out (finally) a few days ago. But I've been too busy/lazy/tired/forgetful to post an update.]
(The other day) I pulled the car into a stall, with my foot on the brake placed the shifter in park, then reached for the key to shut off the ignition. Just as I placed my fingers on the key (but before I could grasp and turn it) the seat started to move rearward toward egress. Suspecting a bad ignition switch/key cylinder, I drove the car on an clear, open road and jiggled the key in the ignition and voila! The seat started to move back. And yes, this was while driving down the road (slowly)! Apparently, I have a bad ignition lock cylinder. It's amazing there isn't some safety consideration to lockout the "auto-seat-egress-position" feature when the car is not in park/neutral (i.e. fail-safe). Fortunately, the seat doesn't move too rapidly, but it can be dangerous at the wrong place/time. So, until I can replace the lock cylinder, it's now: Seat Easy Entry = OFF! Nelson V. |

Sounds to me like you have an issue that should be taken care of under a safety recall. Is there a procedure for average Joe to get a recall started?

Die. That's pretty much the average guys only option for getting GM to recall something. Once enough of us die, they will issue the recall. |

This incredibly dangerous situation needs to be brought to the forefront of the car buying public immediately!!!
So I can afford a C5. |

Haha...you and me both, brother. Nelson glad you got it worked out. I've heard of the ignition switch causing all kinds of weird electrical problems. Matthew |
