Good Morning CGs!

Got home from work and cut the grass so the kids could put up Halloween decorations. After that they were on a bike ride so I had time to escape to the garage and tinker a bit. This is the result:

 photo IMG_20151010_191132822.jpg

I have to pick up another bolt for the stand (only had 3 since it's a 3/8-16 x 3 1/2"....odd length). After that I'll tear off the pan and get to disassembly.

Of course now I'm got a case of "whileI'minthereitis". You obviously remember the whole power steering saga....well, I'm not going through that again. So I'm going to pull the rack and send it out to Turn One for a rebuild. They have a very good reputation and do nice work.

I celebrated the successful motor pull with an Octoberfest and some Nilla wafers. Yes, living the exciting life. Despite my diet faux pas, I was still down another 1/2 lb this morning so I'm doing ok.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Gewd yob, ming.

Guess what's on my mind? We're working that and a couple more things. We have a possible suspect. Proceeding from there. Of course we're doing the detective work. We might actually solve the case that way.

SUNNY AND COOL AT THE MOMENT, SUPPOSED TO HEAT UP TO NEAR 90 WITH RIGHT SMART WIND. GUESS I NEED TO GET OUT AND BLOW THE LEAVES OFF THE PATIOS BEFORE IT GETS UP. FALL IS DEFINITELY HERE, COLD FRONT DUE TOMORROW. YESTERDAY WAS GREAT, A SUNNY 76 DEGREES FOR OUR OKMULGEE SORTIE.

OU GOT BEAT BY TEXAS, WHICH CAUSES ME NO GRIEF AND THE COWBOYS PULLED OFF ANOTHER CLIFF HANGER WIN. ERRATIC IS THE WORD FOR THEM.

TOMMY, HOPE YOU CATCH YOUR CROOKS & GET YOUR CART BACK.

ENJOY YOUR DAY, GURUS

Cord Morning guys....I slept in some this morning. Supposed to be near record highs today, into the 90's. We have 5 hours before the birthday party, so we'll probably take a walk or two.

Game three today, the Royals need to get the offense going early. Would be nice to get a second win and put the pressure on Houston.

I guess if I was better at paying attention I'd have known about the project there Mat.
Besides my regular work schedule, I've been trying to stay on the '89. The long block is together, and I'm slowly working on finishing the porting work on the FIRST intake. It was done on two of the runners, and I hafta duplicate it on the others. The previous owner did an awesome job, but it's more than I woulda done, but that's because I'm tremendously impatient. So now I need to port the two and do some clean-up on the base.
I was gonna use some swap meet valve covers, but the more I looked at them, the less I like them. They're being used as dust covers 'til the engine is in. The OEM covers were pretty well stained, so after a long bout of prep, they still wouldn't hold paint. The final look will be sandblasted to reveal all the casting faux pas' with a directional sanding and black highlights w/ a clear coat. Not what most people would do, but I've run out of patience for them, and I have more patience than cash for replacing them.
So that's where I've been hiding. I hope you all have a good one, I'm off to porting prison.

Wow.......from the unmitigated joy of finally winning to the depths of a deep dark hole in a matter of seconds......what have we done to anger the football gods so? Was one of them a Bo fan? What can we offer them in appeasement.....human sacrifice....no problem.....gold? We are melting our rings and jewelry......a fatted calf.....we have a hundred of them.....young virgins......hmmm....we couldn't find any in these enlightened times......

I'm stumped and I had to help Uboy out of the stadium......its been since 1959 that the Huskers were 2 and 4.......I was 9 years old for lords sake.....here is how bad it is, I'm starting to feel like a Cubs fan......and it doesn't get any worse than that.........poor bastards........we really could be undefeated or at least 5 and 1 but nooooooooo...........

So we get up and dust ourselves off and keep going.....this is a life lesson and we have to show the world we will never give up........somewhere Bo Palini is smiling.......

Matt looks like you are getting it done......hope its glaringly obvious.....

Have a good day Guru's......I need to do some work on the Semi's and it is going to be hot here also........90's.......

Greetings! Nice and sunny out there, gonna be 84. And tomorrow it won't reach 60. I'm going to change the oil on the Vette and spruce her up a bit, then put it away for the season. And after that, yardwork awaits.

Hope your lead pans out, Tommy!

Enjoy your day, Gurus!

Matt - What's up with the stroker? send me link to your thread! I know you got one. I have spent three days detailing the snot out of this '03. It's almost up to my standards. I actually, only had to order a few items to bring it up to snuff. I ordered a new HUD bezel, a new defroster vent in black and will need to paint it with the neutral tan paint from MidAmerica to match my dash. I also need to remove the climate control and do the re-solder mod to bring the display back. So, all in all I'm pretty happy with it.

THIS IS THE WAY IT WAS, OK. DON'T KNOW WHO WROTE THIS, BUT IT SURE STUCK A CORD:

"Only the platoon sergeant had sufficient gravitas to be allowed to turn the C ration cases over so that all of us could reach in and pull out a box on the unlabeled side hoping that it wasn't going to be ham and lima beans again.

Look, forty years on I can forgive the guy who put powder in our ammunition so foul that it caused our M-16s to jam. I'm OK with helicopters that arrived late. I'm over artillery landing too close and the occasional canceled air strike. But I will never forgive the Pentagon bureaucrat who in an incredibly lame moment thought that a soldier would open a can of that green, greasy, gelatinous goo called ham and lima beans and actually eat it.

But to paraphrase that iconic war hero of our generation, Forrest Gump, life is like a case of C Rations, you never know what you're going to get because for every box of ham and lima beans there was that rapturous moment when you would turn over the box and discover the bacchanalian joy of peaches and pound cake. It's all a metaphor for the surreal nature of that war and its small pleasures...those who have never known war cannot believe that anyone can find joy in hot beer and cold pound cake. But we can."

OK, I was out most of the day taking a drive to Maryland's eastern shore with the wife. When we got home I had a little daylight and took a few shots. My driveway is tight and doesn't leave me the best options for shooting.

I average 28mpg on the way home. That's pretty damn good I think! I'm getting even more pumped about this car now than when I first brought it home.

Tom, That's exactly the stuff I used. This morning the dew was beaded up and the canvas was not wet.

I still have some small stains that didn't completely come out but I was afraid to scrub too hard.
