Wow.....I have really done a crapload of work to this ole girl! I'm not going to list the in-betweens......ie:cleaning,painting, tightening & lubing parts etc., but heres the shortlist.
New harmonic balancer New Opti-spark New plugs New ignition wires New water pump New front brake rotors New front brake pads New hatch weatherstrip New B pillar weatherstrip New driver door weatherstrip New shift plate surround Good used gear indicator window Good used driver A/C vent Good used driver door panel Good used steering wheel Good used right side speaker grill Paid to have car buffed & polished Remove stupid Viper alarm Repair console lid Connect the 6 cd changer properly (run wires under console) but hey...the power antenna worked great!!! I have really learned allot on the weatherstrip work & interior work. This is the first time on any C4 that I had to get into these areas. If not for the cost of the weatherstrip, the job was actually fairly easy. If anyone needs help, post up & I'll try my best to give pointers. |

I'm actually still waiting for my water pump to arrive....but thats the last engine component before the initial start-up. Actually, I did start the engine w/o the water pump on to check the Opt-Spark operation & plug wire placement....thumbs up!!
No prob Chris! Oh yea, I settled a deal with a forum member (CF) for my mismatched RR wheel. |

It's gonna feel like a new car. Now, to make yourself feel even better, call the local GM dealer and get an estimate for all the work you just did.
BTW, I'm not fond of GM weatherstripping. I have a 6-month old A-piller piece that's already starting to fall apart. |

Patience & cleanliness are the keys. You need to get ALL the old weatherstrip & adhesive out of the channels and surfaces you removed them from. I used wire brushes, sandpaper, scotchbrite pads little screwdrivers, pics, wood chisels...and anything else that would fit into the little channels to scrape out the junk. Once 99% of the junk was removed, I used 3M adhesive remover and micrfiber towels to get the channels clean. I assembled everything slowly with 3M black adhesive. I used my thumbs and an old kithen rounded edge knife to push the new weatherstrip into place. |

That's exactly why I ordered mine from Willcox - I figured if the OEM stuff rotted so easily, why would I want to buy it again? BTW, somebody recommended Leslie's Pool & Spa Lube as a weatherstripping protectant, so I also bought a tube of that for around $6. |

Wilcox and many of the other brands are not much better. The rubber is so hard it doesn't seal, or it's to short in certain places or the push pins are located incorrectly. Whereas the GM stuff fits perfect with no excuses and it seals. Pool and spa lube works, as does dielctic grease. Just make sure you wipe it down so it doesn't smear all over the windows. |

You've been very busy.
I have the weatherstripping project on the horizon. Where is the best place to pick up the GM product? |

I hope to tackle the hatch strip soon. Mine is pretty much non-existent at the corners...
Good to know I've got a pro with experience up the street! |
