Is what you get when you have a size 13 shoe and a heavy right foot. I snapped the pedal base while getting on the highway, needless to say, it was a real short trip.

My questions

1. Does anyone make just the base?
2. How much of a job is this going to be?
3. Are there any special Tricks to do this job?

Right now the accelerator pedal is just hanging by the wire and is parked in the drive way.

Thanks
Mar

Brings a whole new visualization to the term leadfoot!

Have you found any of it new? I'd guess you will have to go used. I've had good luck with Randy at Callaway Motor Co -- and no, not THE Callaway. He runs a parts business out of eBay. If you call him, he can tell you if he has a part -- then he'll put it on eBay so you get to bid on it.

I just looked -- amazingly, he has one for sale on eBay right now:

Good luck,

There's an aftermarket aluminum piece out there, but in my opinion it's an expensive paperweight.

I would just replace the stock piece. The pedal is sold as an entire assembly, but it's not that expensive. Check Corvette Central or one of the other vette catalogs.

There is also a difference between earlier and later cars. If you put an earlier pedal in a later car you'll never get it to go WOT because the angle on the top of the pedal is different. The difference seems to follow when they changed throttle body styles.

They're not hard to change except for reaching the damn thing way up under there. I have the aluminum replacement that I got directly from Mike Bohannan when he was alive. He's the one who designed and made the ones that R-D used to sell. I don't know if anyone's making them these days or if anyone besides Mike ever did. It's a nice piece though and went in w/o a hitch. I'm glad I have it, one less thing to worry about breaking.

Thanks folks.

Looks like my wife may have found a used assembly for me, I get to go check it tomorrow.

2 days of downtime without the vette is bad enough...

I wouldn't recommend a used one for a known weak point on the car like that. It might have come out of this chick's vette.

Picked up the pedal assembly today, double checked the feet issue, owner said his wife has a size 8 shoe. (It was a backup for her Vette which was sold years ago)

Can't wait to get the Vette back on the road for the weekend! Got to make up for lost time.
