The body man told me that he absolutely dreaded my adjuster coming, said she always shortchanged him and tried to make him cut corners and hassled him. I told him I'd never had a problem with her. Well, he called today and said that this was the best estimate he'd ever gotten from her as far as parts wanted/parts getting was concerned. Said she allowed for everything we asked for and found every bit of it at justcorvettes.com. Including exhaust. But, she allowed $650 for a used exhaust, but my pipes are fine, so all he needs to do is put them back in place and re-brace, the resonator will remain off and I've a new Magnaflow muffler set and four stainless tips on the way and my muffler shop will do it all for the same $650 including labor. All replacement body parts and she's allowed me $1200 for a hood and the hi-rise I want from Toledo Fiberglass is only $1400 so I'm trying to figure out how to get that. If anyone knows of a cheaper hi-rise let me now please, same goes for rest. OR - If I can get a stock hood for around $600 I can get the new rims that I want........mite go that route also. And entire car will be painted, my choice on color.

Things seem to be looking up some, thanks for all you guys' and gals' support!

See? Good from bad! Karma is paying off!

I can't think of a better deal for the hood... I am sure $200.00 can be burried in the estimate somewhere. You may want to check with Van Steel, tho...

I had something like this happen with a prior car... got enough to fix it up really nice.

I assume the frame is straight?

OEM exhaust is CHEAP. For the money they provided, I would consider Corsa. I am afraid that the option you have built will cause a ton of in-cabin resonance.

Frame is straight. I had the resonator cut off a while back and it never bothered me at all. I only have a certain amount to work with and we're trying to get all we can. For the paint, I will stick with the black but we're tossing around the idea of some SUTTLE metallic of some sort or something.

Outstanding news! Glad to hear the Corvette-Guru mojo is working ;-)

I had a van custom painted with black metallic Imron years ago, and liked it a lot.

Well I hope it's working right now they're handling this as a regular collision claim on my ins., once the police report arrives and we find out there is no insurance anywhere on that truck, not only will I get a rental but I will get a separate check for my $500 deductible sent to me that they withheld in the 6300 estimate YAY!

What is your uninsured property damage limit? $6300 is more than average.

Have to make up my mind on the paint tonight. I am supposed to be at the shop tomorrow to give him my final decisions on things and review the estimate to see about getting what I want.

At first I think it would be tempting to try some different color, but I think I'd stay with the black. Black is really nice when it's done right.
