Both could be power, neither could be.

However, if they are, they should move fore/aft and up down with little more than an electric motor whine....

Hello folks,
I have a 1996 g20 sportvan with a 350 c.i.d engine with just over 28,000 orogional miles,
The question that I have is-Would the engine and or tranny fom the van fit in my 84 Corvette? and what would the h.p. difference be between the Corvette motor and the van motor?
If it is a can do situation than I'll just take out the motor and tranny for a spare for when the Vette needs a new one and sale the van body to a friend that's been wanting it.
Thank you. daddue.

I dunno if it will work. I know that from certain years might have worked but the internals are differant. I am sure the heads are differant. I think 82-92 had the same blocks for chevy. Anyone got a website that has a parts list for blocks with applications?

The blocks changed in 1987 when they went to a 1 piece rear main. This would effect the clutch, if it's a manual.

The heads could be different, especially if they are Vortec's.

Otherwise, plug and play.

Both the van and Vette are automatics.
Would the tranny from the van fit underneath the Vette also?

Is it a 4L60E? If so it is a direct fit, but your would need the PCM from the van to control it. I see a lot of wiring problems here (sensors to computer, gauges, etc). I would sell the van engine/trans and use the $$ to mod your stock engine.

That sounds about right to me.
I really don't want to keep it for years and finally find out that it needs a bushle load of modifying even before the install.
I'll just sell the van and modify the Vette, a body makeover and paint job would be nice for the spring.

Thanks everybody,I probably would have had a headache on my hands.

And you'd have to swap the tail housing too.

Man!!! I'm really glad I asked this question,I probibly would have pulled this motor and saved it thinking "It's a 350 cid and tranny,it'll fit".
Thanks my friends for the info. It really helped.

i would hold on to that motor. would be a basis for a sweet build. you could just reuse your stock transmission in your vette. it wouldn't be hard to make it work.
