All you need to do is probably install the new tires?
What's in the fuel line, if it sat for 50 years? Any hidden mouse jam huh? |

Beautiful car. I belong to a forum for that era of Dodges and Plymouths, I'm a real fan of them. I used to own a '47 Plymouth with that same engine, all original. Don't let the low HP numbers fool you, they have a lot of torque and can keep up pretty well. Overdrive models can run at 65 all day. I've got nothing against hotrodding old cars but it would be a crime to do anything to that one except maintain and enjoy it.
I've got a '56 230 cubic inch version of this same engine that's factory rated at about 130 HP. By that time, these Mopar flathead sixes could smoke any stock flathead Ford V8 ever made. I'm collecting vintage speed parts for it now and already have some cool stuff including an extremely rare Tattersfield dual carb intake. It's all going into an all original steel Model A I'm building as a period 1950s hot rod. |

I'll tell ya... the hyperbole of that page is a bit annoying.
They are romatizing an automotive era when all the cars made were deathtraps. All things being equal, that car is worth $$ because it is a timewarp car. I would estimate that a normally restored 1940 Dodge sedan would be worth, top dollar, $15k. In that condition, $25k. It is a Survivor(r), no question. |

I don't understand the problem? I think that's just the coolest thing. I can't imagine the feeling of finding something that hasn't been touched since the 1940's. Especially in that condition. And putting around locally, its not any more or less of a death trap then your C4 at 85MPH on a California freeway on your way home from work. DG |
