Having stuff is great. There is nothing that can compare to getting something new. Eventually the newness wears off. Isn't it funny when the formerly something new breaks down and you have to get it repaired or replaced? You get a little buzz when you get it fixed and it's working right again. You also miss it while it's gone. All my stuff is older and I don't get the buzz of buying something new much anymore. I'm not going to come off my hard earned money to buy something new just to get a temporary high. What's the point I'm trying to make? Who knows.
Since I'm on the subject. Next year is my 25th wedding anniversary. Yup. It's been a long, long time since I've had something new ............. |

Har! I wouldn't know what to do with something new - it'll be 33 years in April for us.
I've also found much the same diminished enthusiasm about new things - maybe we appreciate what we have more as we get older, or we've had so many new things over time that it just isn't a big deal anymore. I was just thinking, my Vette is the oldest car I've ever owned, and it my favorite by a country mile. |

The only brand new vehicle I've ever owned was a Yamaha Enduro I purchased new in '77. The closest to a new car I've owned is my '98 Altima which I bought in '99 and still have. It still drives like new and has been very dependable and trouble free. Up until '97 my main daily driver was a '70 Dodge Dart Swinger that I drove for many years and put a zillion miles on. Laugh at Darts if you want but this one never, ever left me sitting and regularly made road trips of hundreds of miles up until the time it was retired.
It's been decades too since I've had a virgin but what the hell. Even when they don't have their cherry, they've still got the box it came in........ |

It's a spiritual thing.
We don't HAVE stuff - STUFF has US. We think we need stuff to improve our 'lot'. Problem is, the improvement has to come from withIN, not withOUT. Getting 'stuff' with your money is just conversion of what's already yours. Comes down to attention and admiration from others. Just like your vette. If it's perfectly tuned, it can't be any better tuned. That's what makes it special. I don't think there's too much special about a new one. But an old one? One that's in perfect condition? Without bunches of 'stuff' added on? Can't beat it. Just like your wife. Facelift, plastic boobs from the doc, she's the same person she was the day before. Good (or bad), added-on 'stuff' don't change it. |

When youre young its all a rush, you think thats what life is about....stuff, getting things, a new piece.
Years go by and- It gets old, all of it. Stuff, toys, same old snatch. It is what it is. |

Thanks Coach. I'm actually on solid ground when it come to facing reality. No wandering or wondering for me. Just some playful passing thoughts. Like Ron just brought up; It is what it is. |
