I started an open guru chat and nobody came?

I'm glad that Christmas is history. I'm getting ready to get on with the New Year and a new life. Today was my last work day for an agency I worked at for 29 years. The New Year brings me a new life, a new begining. I have a lot to be grateful for. The 91 is back from the shop and running great. It has a new top and new weatherstripping too. Autocross season kicks off in the second week of January. The parties are over and I can start to settle back in and get down to getting a few things done. The wife is having an end of year surgery on the 30th. Might as well get it done while all the deductables are met. They have to clean up a couple of issues from her last surgery several months ago. I hope the new year is a good year.

Jump on in gang ....... The floor is open. :well:

Congrats on the new chapter, Tommy! I probably share a few of the same emotions that you're having right now. Pretty much every emotion, all at once!

Best of luck being a retired bum, and hope the wife's proceedure goes without a hitch!

I'm goin' to get some more letters after my name (more schoolin'); should take about 3 years. By then, I should be pretty healed up, and maybe come off disability.

Thanks God all the insurance was in place in redundancy... You never know your time.

Well, 2008 was the year of the "house", we bought a new house (at least to us) after five years of pinching and paying off years of debt. We moved from the south with little or nothing to buy a high priced home in the DC suburbs back in 2004 at the height of the housing boom here. Anyway, that is behind us and now we are getting settled into our new surroundings.

Plans for 2009:

I'm taking over as President of my Corvette Club which should prove to be challenging but also fun at the same time. We have lots to do this year, and hopefully make some good changes for our Corvette friends in the club.

I also plan to begin sailing classes here in January or February beginning at the start again. Piloting & Navigation, Senior Crew etc. The club I joined is run by retired Naval Academy Sailing Coaches and has a great reputation around here for turning out some good skippers.

I'm also planning on getting more physical activity in this year and try to get back where I was two years ago. I have already started on this little resolution and hope it sticks

In between this stuff I don't know when I'll have the time, but I want to do a few autocross events this year too. I'll just have to play it by ear and see what all I can fit into the schedule. I keep forgetting that I also have to work 40 hours a week to keep up these activities!!!

Cheers & Happy New Year

We hit 4 once... no mega, tho... There was a huge jump from 4 to 4+ mega... we won about $110 on that one... but with the mega it woulda been mid-5 figures!

In all honesty, we have our new business going and I will soon be going full time to manage the internet/Guru Garage side. I am going to build a cheapo Linux box and start building additional Guru sites... Do some other IT consulting and help Bastet44 with her side of the business.

I am hoping to be able to do this no later than mid-summer.

My real plans for 2009:
Sit on my ass until the housing market comes back just a little.
Sell my house and get a very large garage with some kind of house attached.
Live in the garage and sleep in the house.

Be careful in what you wish for...

That would more than likely result in a debate about heads and then it would get locked.
