Cars home. The mechanic doesn't work on saturdays and it's been there for two weeks and hes way behind. First where is the vacum or passage maybe? to where the heat comes thru that would not allow it to get hot if it was blocked/not opening?
Second, spare tire carrier. The main bolt on the back and the tire. Once thats removed, how do I get the back of it under the car off? Can't see anything and I have to wait until the exaust cools off before I am going to poke under there...Wanna take it off and paint the suspension parts and clean it up... |

Id have personally thought youd have far more pressing priorities then painting suspesion parts.
I dont have any idea what youre talking about for the rest of it, i just cant make any sense out of it. |

Vacuum line for climate control and check valve for most L98s can be found on most L98s by the distributor and follows along the firewall/interior. May have some plastic lines, dont break em.

If you need a vacuum source, just hook it up to your ear. :thumbright:
I was working on an 86 today, the vacuum check valve feeds the cruise control lines and I guess the hvac too. It was down between the distributor and the wiper motor. Why are you painting the suspension parts? They're bare aluminum. Just clean them with simple green and a brush! Paint, and the overspray will look terrible on there. Sort of a complete waste of time though when the car has other pressing problems. Hold off on cleaning the suspension until you have to change a bearing or brakes or something. |

Ah yes, early 86 was manual A/C, late was electronic.
This 86 I was working on had electronic, but there was a hard vacuum line buried way down there that went to the check valve. Does the 4l60e use any vacuum signals? |

Quote: Now its been a few years.....but on my 89 I remember when I first got it, I had no vent airflow......I looked around under the hood & found a hard plasic line at the rear of ther engine melted in two. I mended it with a small piece of vacume line and it worked perfectly. The car was an automatic. |

Its really got nothing to do with what transmission is in the car, its all related to the C68 or C60 controller. C60 the blend door is connected to the head unit with a cable, and with a C68 its driven by an electric motor.

Stevo that 84 of yours wouldnt have had the choice mate, C60 is the RPO for standard A/C controller, and C68 is for the optional electronic climate control system which was available from 86 onwards in coupes, and 87 onwards for convertibles.
Your auto box has a throttle valve cable. |

Hopefully I can help on the tire carrier.
On my 92 The long bolt at the rear is connected to a bracket held on with 3 bolts, 2 you can see the third enters from the back. That gets the main bolt completely off. The remainder is held on by 2 bolts in the frame on each side. Just unbolt and the entire carrier is off. |

This probabily doesn't help this question at all, but, I did find out first hand that the temp control for the heat is controlled by a cable hooked to the temp switch.
