I am thinking of getting some drilled and slotted (I like the look).... any suggestions where to get some without paying an arm and a leg? Anybody try these?

Good price but be prepared. Those pads will probably squeak and the drilled holes might be prone to cracking. Just watch them carefully.

Hard to say. One of my best friends and I put a set of drilled and slotted rotors on his '74 two years ago. He drives that car kind of aggressively in the summers when it's driving season. We have inspected and have yet to find any cracks, and he's using locally bought performance pads.

Email the seller and see if they will lower the price a bit for a sale without the pads. Then buy some locally. Basic pads for rear and performance pads for front.

That will remove one headache and the cracks would just be completely up to bad luck or fate or whatever you call it.

As for the look they really do the trick. Curt's rotors add a great look behind the TTIIs.

I don't think you'll have a problem with cracking drilled rotors in normal street driving.

I haven't even cracked mine yet, but they're also beefier than stock.

With that said, I would NEVER buy no-name brake parts, drilled or not without doing some research and seeing some feedback from others. They're probably the cheapest possible imported crap he could get his hands on, and if they have core shift it will cause your pedal to pulsate and tug on the wheel when the heat up.

I'm sure if you ask he'll tell you they're drilled Brembo blanks, which is almost always a lie.

I just went on his web site, pulled up a pic of the pads to try & see who made them, never heard of them, bet they're Chinese.

If you want the looks, that's fine.
First, ceramic do dust less and that's about all they do. This certainly won't be a brake upgrade.

I forget what the total price was but you can get the best street pads for around $140, Hawk HPS. Then find your drilled rotors. Even if you have to dump $50 more into the package, you'll really notice the difference in braking performance.

Also, there was a good discussion on brakes here 2 or 3 days ago.

Since I don't do any track stuff I am not too concerned about cracking, as this is my daily driver. I talked to the guy tonight and he indicated that they do all the machine work there, and the warranty is for 12 months.....I probably will just buy the rotors and get the pads here locally... I initially talked to my mechanic about drilled rotors and pads (front and rear) and they gave me a price of 1100 bucks just for parts... I am not feeling that.... so that's why I am looking at other options....

Sounds like your mechanic has his eyes on a new Corvette and wants you to pay for it.

Slotted & Drilled Rotors Front - $99.00 a pair
" " " Rear - 99.00

Hawk HPS pads (F&R) 165.00

Total parts cost - $363.00

And at that cost, you'll get lo dust pads that blow your mind compared to what you're running now.

Try r1 concepts on Fleaybay. I have been running their rotors for five years without a problem on the street and highway. Some "spirited" driving too. Pads I would reccomend Hawk HPS. Low dust,no noise and good stopping power for the street and highway

I like your painted calipers... can't think of a decent color to paint mine given its a ruby..... probably go with black since red wouldn't match too well I think....

Been thinking about painting my calipers too. I parked next to a pewter colored 350Z with gold Brembos on it. If you would have described it to me, I would have gagged, but it looked pretty cool. I'm considering it for the Ruby. Maybe I can do a photoshop tomorrow.

A lot of crappy rotors will hold up just fine on the street, it's when you take them out for a 20 minute track sessions, that you find out what keeps from cracking and what doesn't.

Stock's just fine. If you want the looks on the drilled thing, get the ones that are $99 a pair.

It's the pads that make the difference.
Make sure you bed them in right.
