Good Morning CGs!

Sorry for the late start, I got to sleep in a bit today.

Weather is a little cloudy and cool today, but I don't believe it's supposed to rain. That will be a nice change. The driveway guys are supposed to come and sealcoat the blacktop today, too, so I sure hope it doesn't rain. They come and do it for $50 so I can't beat that with a stick. We do it every other year. Wifey was mad at me this year because when I was doing the rear swap I was cleaning all the parts on the driveway and the combination of aluminum cleaner, brake cleaner, wd40, pb blaster, etc etc discolored the driveway. Whatever.

Been pretty quiet around here the past couple of days. Nothing big. What about everyone else?

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

THURSDAY JOKE OF THE DAY:

The best Norm quotes from "Cheers"!

"What's shaking Norm?"
"All four cheeks & a couple of chins."

"What's new Normie?"
"Terrorists, Sam. They've taken over my stomach & they're demanding beer."

"What'd you like Normie?"
"A reason to live. Give me another beer."

"What'll you have Normie?"
"Well, I'm in a gambling mood Sammy. I'll take a glass of whatever comes out of that tap."
"Looks like beer, Norm."
"Call me Mister Lucky."

"Hey Norm, how's the world been treating you?"
"Like a baby treats a diaper."

"What's the story Mr. Peterson?"
"The Bobbsey twins go to the brewery. Let's cut to the happy ending."

"Hey Mr. Peterson, there's a cold one waiting for you."
"I know; if she calls, I'm not here."

"Beer, Norm?"
"Have I gotten that predictable? Good."

"What's going on Mr. Peterson?"
"A flashing sign in my gut that says, 'Insert beer here.'"

"Whatcha up to Norm?"
"My ideal weight if I were eleven feet tall."

"How's it going Mr. Peterson?"
"Poor."
"I'm sorry to hear that."
"No, I mean POUR!"

"How's life treating you Norm?"
"Like it caught me sleeping with its wife."

"Women. Can't live with 'em....pass the beer-nuts."

"What's going down, Normie?"
"My butt cheeks on that bar stool."

"Pour you a beer, Mr. Peterson?"
"Alright, but stop me at one....make that one-thirty."

"How's it going Mr. Peterson?"
"It's a dog eat dog world, Woody & I'm wearing Milk Bone underwear."

"What's the story Norm?"
"Boy meets beer. Boy drinks beer. Boy meets another beer."

"What's going on Mr. Peterson?"
"The question is what's going IN, Mr. Peterson?
"A beer please, Woody."

"Can I pour you a beer Mr. Peterson?"
"A little early isn't it, Woody?"
"For a beer?"
"No. For a stupid question"

Har, Norm was a beauty!

Glad the weeke is going by quickly. I'm hoping to hear more about my engine today - he was going to pull the heads and have a look at the cylinders, etc.

Thanks for the laugh... I loved that show.

Cloudy here still. I started cleaning my car up for the show last night. I pulled the wheels and cleaned the wheel-houses and inside the barrels of each wheel. I also repainted the rear calipers again, some spots of old red paint was showing though the black paint I put on last year in some places. They look nice and shiney black now like the front GS Calipers. Tonight I will finishing waxing again and start on the interior and then the engine.

Does anyone have any good tips for engine dressings that I can get my hands on at AutoZone or Advance Auto or NAPA? I have been using the Adam's In&Out spray but I can't get any of that by show time.

Also, when one door closes another one opens --
Yesterday Callaway Corvettes called and told me they could not make our show.. However, just an hour later Rod Saboury called me and said that he and his wife decided to bring his 63 Vette which is the "Fastest Street legal car in the World". His car is pretty awesome. I think you guys have seen it before, but here is a link if you want to see a Vette that turns 6 seconds on the 1/4 and can still be driven on the road.

http://www.rodsaboury.com/

I got a million things to do to get ready for the show, and I'm hoping to hear from the Washington Post today to get some more last minute advertising. Wall Street Journal is sending out photogs on Sunday and doing an interview for an article on the automobile industry fiasco and what the car enthusiast thinks about the whole mess.

Should prove to be an exciting weekend.

Good Morning All!

Well, it's Friday Eve, so things are looking up! Looks like a fairly nice day today, and the weekend looks promising too. It would be a lot better if I can find a way to get out of the yardwork that's waiting....

It's almost Showtime Don. You've worked hard and I'm sure it will pay off. Have a great show.
Weather here has sucked the past week. T-storms every day. Hope to do a little house hunting today. Looking for the right combo. Cheap, clean and somewhat safe. Trying to stay away from rock-monsters, urban outdoorsman/squatters and other social deviants. Good deals right now if you can find them. Real estate down here is in the crapper. Plenty of other little chores to do today too.
Yesterday we dropped off the wifes 911. The heater fan motor would not turn off so it was draining the battery quickly. The mechanic said "If you want to wait we can just disconnect the heater". Wifey says.... You know I want it done right. I don't want any rigs or by-passes. Should get it back soon enough. Make it a great day Gurus.

heading to work.

hopefully i can set my timing later and go for a ride. my injectors blow and a couple are ticking - the stethoscope shows no noise on the valvetrain, head, intake manifold but when i put it on a few of the injectors it's just flat out loud. maybe some crap got dislodged when i pulled the rails? whatever. my buddy has several bags of SVO injectors. i've got a coolant leak somewhere and it's scaring me. it was present before i did the intake and installed a new water pump. i figured the pump was bad as the aftermarket ones seem to start leaking bi-annually. it's not the pump, heater hoses, radiator hoses, or intake. my passenger side hood latch is not opening enough. but holy crap does the superram look cool and rev nicely. i'm getting a small surge at idle, probably from the big TB, but i hope i can drive for a little while until i can afford to get it tuned.

out my office window the crown vic looks damn good clean and with the summer 17's on it. i even used the push bars to move around my parts car yesterday.

Good Morning Gurus!

Meetings meetings meetings....

Seems like that's all I do these days. Hopefully they all turn into paying gigs!

Matt, how's the baby? Healing up? That's awesome news about the show, Don!

Tommy, the 911 is one of my absolute favorite cars of all time. I don't know all that much about them, but it sure does seem like you spend a good bit of money maintaining them. You've nearly put me off wanting one. But I still might do it someday. A silver N/A car with a turbo body would be my ultimate, I think.

Must prepare for another day of meetings...

Enjoy your day, Gurus!

Chris...
So far the Vettes can keep right up there when it comes to maintenance. Stuff breaks on old cars so you have it fixed. The shop rate is $90 hour plus parts. I'm not a complete dummy when it comes to repairs. I can troubleshoot pretty good so it keeps them from handing me my ass in a hat. If it's just a relay or short I'll get off cheap. If it's the heater motor, that's a little more. You don't need heat much in Florida but there are a few weeks a year that it gets pretty cool. Last year I had the heater core replaced in the 91 Vert. That ain't cheap either.

Morning Guys. The weather's beautiful here, another day in the sunshine.
I washed down the LT1 yeaterday, today I'll do the outside.

Don,"Does anyone have any good tips for engine dressings that I can get my hands on at AutoZone or Advance Auto or NAPA? ", Your engine would look silly in a dress.
I don't know what you're using the Adams for but I use ArmorAll Low Shine on the rubber & plastic, going to do that this a.m.
I walked into Summit the other day and noticed they have Adams on the shelf, may try some of their stuff.

Tommy, " Real estate down here is in the crapper.",everywhere man, here the upper midrange prices have dropped more than the midrange prices. I can't even put my house on the market so my plan for a nice garage is out the window for awhile.

Cheers, Norm.

Don, you're going to have a long wait for the "In and Out spray", government made them take it off the market, too many VOCs is what I understand. Have you tried the undercarriage spray? That stuff works like nothing I've used. Good luck, I certainly hope you have a great turnout.

Tommy, you are right old cars have things that need fixing and it's obvious that you do them right, that's a feather in your cap.

Chris hang in there, those meetings will hopefully lead to more work.

Matt how is the little ones hands/fingers? I sure that she'll bounce back.

It's a beautiful day here in SW Kansas. 60 right now the sun is shining and the wind isn't blowing. Looking for a high today of low 80's. I've been out to the shop spraying the last coat of finish on the doors and drawer fronts. Later I'll get the hinges on the doors and get them mounted. Then the drawer slides can go on. After that I'll get the adjustable shelves made.

I guess we are going to make the trip to KC tomorrow to take the granddaughters back home...I thought we were going to meet them half-way, but the wife says we need to take a daybed up to the other daughters house and we can kill two birds with one stone. We have to go back the next weekend as well, as the youngest granddaughter (the one getting the daybed) is turning two and they are having a party for her then. So we will be burning up the road to KC. It's a 410 mile drive one way. But by taking the girls home this weekend and delivering the daybed, we can take the Corvette next weekend.

Anybody else noticing the gas prices jumped over Memorial day weekend? In the last 10 days it's gone up here by $.48/gallon.

OK I guess I've made this post long enough. Later guys.

Bill, Adams stuff is great. I was a Zaino guy for many years, and then tried the Adams Polishes and I like them a whole lot better. They have a complete line of stuff for cleaning and detailing. I used VRT (Vinyl Rubber and Tire) dressing on all the under hood stuff yesterday and it looks great.

Good... I have a little of the VRT left, I'll give that a try. I hope I enough for tires and engine stuff.

Hey guys, just tinkering about the house here. Thanks for asking about the baby. The blisters popped so we're keeping some prescription cream on it to fight infection, but she's using the hand (bandaged) and she'll be back to 100% in no time.

Don - sorry to hear about the callaway deal, but I'm sure the car show is gonna turn out great. I'm looking forward to seeing pictures.

I think I might try to post some video from her bday party last week since my wife has been pestering me. I'll let you guys know.
