Good Morning CGs!

Well I felt like crawling back into bed this morning under the warm covers and sleeping the day away. But I can't do that. Seems they'll come and look for me if I don't go to work

Oh well. I did get a nice workout in last night and then I got a haircut, so not bad overall.

So what's on the agenda today? Any big plans? I ordered some parts at the chevy dealer, so maybe they'll come in today. If not hopefully Monday. We'll see.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

A week away gives me a week of work to catch up on. Warsh some cars, maybe the boat (maybe not) and clean up the house a bit. Autocrossing the Porsches tomorrow so I gotta make em look pretty. We have had record breaking heat the last couple of weeks. Supposed to get a couple of days of relief. I hope so.

Its still gray cold and wet here. I'm getting ready to go down and put the fan shroud back on the car and button everything up from the trans cooler install. Everything went very smooth and fast. I think if it wasn't for the stinkin' fan shroud it could be done in a half hour tops. I hope nothing leaks and then maybe I get out and test drive it. I wish I had a temp gauge for the transmission. Just another item on the list. I wonder how long this thing will hold together doing autocross before it blows. I better start saving up now.

Anyhow, I hope you all have a great day. Bill and Tommy, good luck on the AX outings. I'm doing my first one on Nov. 1st.

I have worked a few NCCC Autocross events in the past and ridden shot-gun on many passes but never driven my own car. I'm getting excited, but I have to race in the higher classes because of all the mods on my car. :sad10:
I also have to buy and mount a fire extinguisher because of the class as well. More money I don't have right now, but I'll figure that one out before the end of the month. Any advise for newbie?

My body is in shock. Left Miami, it was about 95 degrees. Arrived in Pa to wet snow, ice, rain, and about 34 degrees.

Daughter is turning 12 tomorrow, so big party for all of her rug rat friends today.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Change the oil in the truck this morning. Gonna fire up the '85 today and take it for a short drive, need to get in the garage to change the truck's stuff and grease it up.

Then watch some College football, followed by an evening of
State High School Marching Band Competition up in Whitwater,Wi this evening. Feckin' 12 hours of comp., 4 classes of schools, my son being in the last class(largest sizewise AAAA).

Our youngest son is in the pit, Timpany Drums pounder. He doesn't march (4 large kettle drums), but he's right in front of the grand stands, along with other percussionists.

Actually, I don't autox, not my thing. I've never done a track day either, just instruct at them.

Building a mount for the extinguished should be fairly easy, just some decent sheet metal, bent 90 degrees, attached to the front seat mount bolt(s).

Since you've worked some autocrosses, you know what's going on, puts you ahead of the new drivers that haven't done it.
I'd work on not hitting cones rather than trying to go fast for a while. I wouldn't worry about manually shifting the auto until you get some runs under your belt. Ask the guys with similiar cars what tire press they're running. Walk the track as many times as you can.

I bought a well used 99 Dodge Ram Laramie SLT yesterday, so my plan for today was to clean it up and start detailing it.
However the temp this morning is a frigid 49*F, so that is not likely to get done today. Thinking about just relaxing and watching college football instead.

Howdy! The sun is shining here for the first time in what seems like an eternity, and it's supposed to be in the 50's - heat wave! We're going to make a pilgrimage to Trader Joe's today - never been there, but friends tell us they have some pretty good stuff, and cheap prices on wine. Had a little birthday celebration for my youngest last night, who turned 23 - seems impossible.

Have a great day, everyone!

You'll love Trader Joe's - I went there a few weeks ago for the first time and found all kinds of great stuff.

23 years in the blink of an eye!!

Hey Don,

Autocross is really not that rough on your car as long as you keep it maintained regularly which I know you do. I've been doing it for about 4 years now. I run against guys who have many more years of seat time. I just go and do the best I can. There are 3 in my class and I usually run 3rd. The other guys are running track tires and I'm running street. That makes a big difference on run times. I basically try to improve my performance and skill. Just go and have a good time. Go a few times with an instructor to guide you if that's an option. Like Bill said, first try to make it through without knocking anything down or going off course. Increase you speed and braking as you become more comfortable. Lots of people there with experience and most are willing to help and offer advice if asked. It's all about improving your driving skills and learning the handling capabilities of your car. If you can take home a trophy even better.

2-Buck Chuck. Good wine for $2.00

Just got done with the oil change, and warshed 2 cars.

45 degrees here, but was cooler when I washed them (about 42,43ish) My hands are frozen.
Took the '85 out, got it up to temp, and pounded thru the first 3 gears, twice. Year-end fun..

Sun forecasted to be out tomorrow, temp in the 50s.
