The irony is people by 4x4's for winter vehicles.

BTW one of the local stations says the recall is all happening because of THEIR story.

I saw that this morning. Seems the accelerator pad gets stuck in the floormat and causes the car to speed out of control....

I think I saw that about a month ago on national news. Pics were from somewhere up your way.
The pics of the rusted, broken frames were scary.

LOL, so the floormat recall didn't do the trick?

I think it's a coverup to avoid bad press on the Prius for crashing from non-floormat related causes.

They're making them replace the pedals now.

Suddendly happier that my new truck does NOT have push button start.

[sarcasm] Let's put a trendy feature for people that are too lazy to put a key in the ignition and get's people KILLED.[/sarcasm]

BTW what happens when you kid sitting in the car hits the start button when you under the hood working on it?

As far as I am concerned they would be better off to dump them all in the ocean and create a new reef and habitat for fish. Contrary to the popular belief I think Toyota builds crappy cars.

I thought I was the only one that felt that way.
I rent a car typically once or twice a week. So you can imagine I get to drive quite the assortment of cars.
Every single time I get a toyota, it seems to be a piece of shit. Loose steering, rattles and an overall "old" feeling to it, even though it has 3 or 4 thousand miles on it.
I don't get the Toyota thing.

Used to drive rentals every week when travling on business.
Drove ALL the major brands. Most all were low mileage POS's
Toyotas were the worst. I know I usualy "drove 'em like I stole em".

Saw on the news that the spare tire could fall out of the Tundra. What about the rest of the frame?

My '88 MR-2 was an incredible car. I put a lot of miles on that thing. Changed the oil every once in awhile. Replaced both headlights. Changed the plugs and wires. Took me five minutes.

Never an issue, squeak, rattle or leak of any kind. And it had a T bar roof, as they called it.

Best tranny I ever shifted. Best feeling brakes I've ever used. And I've driven some nice cars.

My wife's '05 Tacoma feels really cheesy though. I don't care to drive it at all. Got the floormat recall paperwork in the mail earlier this week...

Just like everything else, things were built better in the "good old days". Imagine the crap our grandkids will be driving, and long for when THEY get old.

I dunno I liked my wife's 2000 solara - well built car and did only basic maintenance on it. Was a much better car than my 03 monte carlo. I like the looks of the new toyota venza:

I don't hate Toyotas, I just don't love them.

They haven't made a car that have wanted since the Supra.

The cars are well built and always last. Now, I qualify: From about 1983 or so on, they fixed the last major engine durability issues (burning valves on the 22R), and rust was tackled and fixed by the mid 80s.

So from there on out, they have been damned good cars. My wife and her family have had excellent luck with them.

Now, I will say they are not the best handling things on earth. Her Mom's Camry is a fine riding car, but just doesn't corner worth a damn. The new tires helped a bunch.
