It's been warm and dry here. I saw this the other day:

2010 is warmest year-to-date on record

The planet is 4.5 billion years old, or thereabouts. Our "record" is how old? Going all the way back to 1880?! So, that's 130 years? Hmmmm, so the historical, (hysterical), record is for roughly 0.000003% of the planet's life?

I'm paniced.

Agreed, it's sort of like projecting next week's weather forecast based on the conditions over the last 10 seconds.

I don't have an axe to grind about that but I believe temp data can go way way back further than that. Ice cores etc.

There's a lot of misinformation out there on both sides. But, as ice retreats in Greenland, they're finding old Viking farming settlements.

The only thing constant is change, and I think that applies to the climate. I'm just a little suspicious of those who seem to be siezing on this in order to push an agenda.

Could it be the man who got a C in physical science in college? Could it be the man who uses as much energy in his home as 20 normal households? The Nobel Prize winner himself, Al Gore?

"In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWh—more than 20 times the national average."

Mine over the last 12 months: 4,377 kwh.

His house uses as much in a week than mine does in a whole year. And he's got a gas bill too. I have 2 roommates and run the AC, although the weather is pretty mild here.

Ca-ching, you win (we lose).
Your prize is 20 carbon credits and a barrel of jet exhaust fumes from his private jet.

DING! Reason returns. I love how the tree huggers can claim all of this drama based on such limited data.

Now, historical data, deduced from ice cores in Greenland, showed that there was a warm period some 800 years ago. Ppl landed there, made communitites there, lived.... until the weather changed and it got colder than hell!!!

Oh, Tommy, you know as well as I do, that one good tropical storm flies over FL will refill all the springs and all this drought talk turns to mush.

Current Lake Okeechobee level is 13.68 ft. The flood control gates are controlled by SFWMD. We had plenty of rain this year There is no doubt in my mind they have drawn it down some. These mofos are always crying.
