I posted this on the "other" forum but I wanted to share with everyone here since this is a more forgiving group... Anyway

I'm just not a fan of tan interiors. Give me a nice black or even gray interior and I'm happy. I bought my 90 with the "saddle" or "camel" interior because it seemed to be a well cared for car...that's another story for another time.
Anyway, I bought some of the pieces and parts that corvette forum member Kubs was selling out of his 90 since it was black.

Pics...

Before

not sure what this stuff was...maybe mints?

Finally a return on my investment....

After.

I also changed the halo and the center portion of the rear carpeting. My end goal is a black/red interior. With the red being inserts in the seats and maybe a few red carbon fiber pieces.

The old tan carpet pieces were just filthy, I could see the color that they were supposed to be under the seat mounting brackets.

Well... I like tan, but only in the right context. Black, Polo Green, Navy Blue, Red, Ok. Otherwise, no.

I can't wait to see the rest of the black work done, and the red accents. With white exterior, it should be sweet. Just becareful, you don't want to overload with two toning. If you aren't careful, it starts to look bliny and cheap.

I don't want too much red. Sort of like the mod red interiors in the C5 or is it the C6's?

I like the grey seats.

My favorite.

Black, I think, shows wear too soon.

I have Camel int/polo ext...it's only "ok" for me.

I'm thinking bright blue ext and grey w/black carpet interior changes.

Haven't chosen the exact ext blue yet though.

I have red/black two tone and carbon fiber. I like the look especially on the white car, but lately I have been getting a little sick of the two tone and when I see white C4s with the factory solid, torch red seats I wish I still had mine like that too.

One day I plan to switch back to solid red seats with black C4 logos stitched on the headrests.

Black and tan does work on coon hounds, though.

I like to drink a black and tan, does that count?

JK, I like the change. The black carpets are so much more forgiving with stains. But I do like tan interiors...I still want a blue/oak vette....but alas that will not happen for a long time.

Good job.

I smelled them...they didn't have a scent. They were crumbly though.

oopsie... forgot BRM... it also goes well with light gray.

I have seen it with black interior, and I don't like it much. Just too dark and it doesn't allow the rose part to pop in the paint as well.

I am the new guy here so here goes... My '87 Vette has the Saddle interior and on the exterior color, the code is 74 (most read this as) Med Red Metallic.

I too had a problem with the Saddle being light, sun faded and just not catching my eye as I wanted. So, I am in the process of doing a 2-tone black/red combo with a few of the Saddle pieces left for accent. Not sure what I will end up with as I have just started this process but as time goes on I will document and add pictures as I go along.

I have never been a fan of light colored interiors nor of a patriotic color scheme like red, white & blue. Just shows way to dirty even if not.

That's my 2 cents on this, minus the 50% gov't. cut.

Well, I finally got the car off the jack stands and drove it with the "new" seats. I like them, they don't hug you quite like the originals but it's a lot easier to get in and out without the bolster fighting you.

My wife said that she likes them and finds them comfortable. We didn't drive it very long.

Lonewolf - I like the Med Red Metallic. Can't wait to see pics of your interior as it progresses.

I have to wait for the snow and ice to melt so I can get some pics of mine with the new seats installed.
