Any thought on this? I sure wouldn't mind throwing a few bucks in the pot...

I can't speak for Andy or Bastet, but I have always been of the notion not to "ask" or "demand" members to give money. My vision was always to be free and I would incur the costs of running the site. But that was with a very low bandwidth and low member activity.

Now that has changed and more expense will be brought to the table. Upgrades will come as needed. Andy already stated that we will have some sponsors/vendors that will help pay the bills.

I like the idea of "Supporting Members" as it will give some sense of ownership. However, I don't like the idea that you can't do things in the forum if you haven't given like those whom have. Examples would be posting pics or changing your name or whatever.

Ultimately, the Andy and Bastet will make those calls......thanks for offering!

I am with Brut.

However, with the addition of Tire Rack, we will be getting some income (one nice set of tires and we are paying some bills)!

I am sure there will be a time when memberships will be offered, but it isn't anytime in the near future...

I would have to agree with that but instead of additional rights or privileges, it could be something as simple (or silly, depending on how you look at it) as a C4 Guru decal, or cap or T-shirt. For an especially generous contribution, Andy might think about throwing in a copy of that threesome video he made with Carmen Electra and Dennis Rodman on their wedding night. I seriously doubt his wife would have any problems with this as not only do I get the impression that she's an open-minded sort but also this happened long before they ever met...

We totally appreciate your support!

In addition to using vendors like TireRack, etc, we will be expanding our CafePress store that will sell C4Guru branded merchandise, like polo shirts, mugs, etc. All proceeds from the store will go back into the maintenance and expansion of C4Guru. And you would also be helping us out by advertising the site every time you wear/use the item purchased. Look for more details on the store in the near future.

Thanks again!

I was mid-post when tobijohn was doing his.

I really would not want to see Dennis Rodman in the buff. Would you? As much as I respect him as a basketball player, that is a vision I can do without. Carmen is pretty hot, though.

She's still at the forgive and forget stage with the whole Rodman incident.

You can paypal me $70 and I'll fill the tank on my Corvette. Deal?

Seriously though, running this site has to incur some quantifiable expenses. I would think it would be easy for Bogus to accept that if he was certain what it was going towards, right? He's not exactly living like a fat cat on the upper east side...

I too think a supporting member contribution could work. I also think if we get the site packed with the knowledge we poured into the other one sponsorship will come then Andy can sell out and get rich

I too would rather pay a supporting membership, than see those ads like on CF. It wouldn't have been so bad, but most of the ads were not even Corvette related.

How do we do a supporting member program without leaving out other users? Is it possible to give someone more privileges without technically taking away from others?

Or give them a title and some goods that say they contributed and leave it at that?

As bad as the Audi ads were, they weren't as bad as these. Wife is jealous enough of the Corvette.

Actually, if they were really thinking, they'd sell the mailing list to a few of those penile enhancement spammers. Talk about a target audience, everyone knows that's the only reason we bought these cars...
