Good Morning CGs!

Wet and cold....not a dog's nose, but the weather outside. High of 48 expected today...ugh. What happened to the nice weather?

Pulled the forms off the concrete yesterday and still looks pretty good. Not quite as deep as I thought. I thought we poured closer to 6", it's in the 4-5" range (by eye, I should measure it). I dug it out pretty well but there is a yard of crushed stone underneath packed with a gas powered tamper. Also has wire mesh, so I'm not worried about it going anywhere...

We have a communion party to go to this afternoon. It's Polish, so it will be like a mini-wedding for the little girl. She was the flower girl in our wedding, so it amazes me a little how fast she's grown up and how fast time flies. Wow.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Time flies. I'm a witness.
Watched a movie yesterday with Matt Damon called the Green Zone. Ya, it's been out awhile but it's new to me. Movies like that stir me into understanding why I live a disconnected life from the realities and atrocities that are out there throughout the world. I live in a dream world that I created. Probably the result of a life of real experience. Manipulation, back stabbing, half truth, disinformation, the quest for money and power, using people as pawns to get what you want at any price. Makes me happy I live a simple, quiet life in a rural community, tending to plants and and maintining our little parcels. What goes on out there is mad. It is a mad, mad, mad, mad world .......
I'm much better off not knowing what is really going on .....

It rained like a sun of a gun all day yesterday here! Rained-out a fair amount of good car shows yesterday too I'd suspect. Damn Rain! It looks like it might clear up here a bit today but now I have to catch up on some work for the "day job." It seems my days have become blurred lately and work, no matter if it is for my paid job, or for the Corvette Club or for me personally has become more and more of a chore. Not fun work, like it used to be. It seems as though all I do is work these three tasks continually 24/7 without much headway. Nothing seems like its coming as easily as it once did. Oh well... I just need to persevere and keep trudging along.

Matt... Time does fly indeed. I spent Mother's Day with my Sister and her kids and I can't believe how big my Nephew and Nieces have gotten in the short time they have been here with us. Jonathan is 15 years old and looking forward to getting his learners permit later this summer; he is taller than all of us now. The girls are getting big too. It also amazes me how smart they are. I've always considered myself to be pretty well educated and fairly intelligent, but I never remember being as quick witted and smart as they kids are today. ( Now I'm sounding like an old man ) Anyhow, this is the first time in my life I have looked at the world quite this way. Just some interesting observation of the days that quickly pass me.

I hope you all have a nice Sunday! I think I may go out for a walk along the bay this morning and try to figure out why I'm here on this earth and chat with the man that made it all possible!

Cheers

Yea, same temp here + snow.

To grout or not to grout is the only thing I have to decide today.

Good Sunday Morning Guru's! My stock is back up after a belated celebration of our annaversary. We took the Vette in to the Star City last night and ate at the Olive Garden (I had a gift card) Good food, then I took her to Wal-Mart and bought her a Keurig coffee maker which she says makes the best coffee she has ever had. I am enjoying a cup of French Vanilla right now. She is a hard core coffee person with black and strong as her favorite. I am more of a tutti frutty coffee guy with lots of flavored coffee and creams to put in it. Drives her nuts!

Luckly, I am a man's man so I can get away with things like that.

Tommy, it's a mess out there but that is what this Country and the people who founded it have tried to do is create an environment that we can have our own nests or castles where we can escape from the world. Involving nature always makes it better I think.

Church this morning and then we will see. Got some graduations in other Villages in the area. Weather is cool and cloudy. Have a good day off guys and gals.

Don, one foot in front of the other and you may have to say no to somebody while you have the other things that are going on in your life at present. A good sunny day is coming when you and your bride will be driving your very fast car somewhere really cool and fun. Keep your eyes on that!

Greetings! Yes, we all make our own reality. Sometimes it seems like a treadmill, but it's my treadmill, so I guess I can change its speed or incline, or get off of it if I put my mind to it. It's purportedly going to be 60's and sunny, and the treadmill needs beautification.

Make the most of your day, Gurus!

P.S. - Bill, that tile ain't gonna grout itself ;-)

Good morning Gurus!

T minus five days to moving day...

Had a small "going away" get-together last night. Dinner with friends, then back to one couple's house to get our drink on. I managed to take out an entire pint of Jäger, minus three shots. Fortunately nobody there likes that stuff but me.

Forgot my troubles for a few hours. It was nice.

I hope everyone has continued success with their various projects.

Don, enjoy that walk AND that talk!

Cheers all!

Good morning, all!

Dreary and rainy in the area today - the wife's BFF is at Dover, hoping they'll get the Sprint Cup race in.

We spent five hours yesterday hosting a "Packet Stuffing Party" for the Wildwood Regional. 233 registration packets and 127 car packets are done and on their way to Wildwood. A lot of paper ...

... today's a cleanup day for the problem registrations and a chance to spend at least a little time on the 1985.

To me grouting even sounds bad, but I know it has to be done when it has to be done.

I used to do all that admin stuff (4 different clubs), Don still does.
Now I still voulnteer but I don't get involved with running a club, I did my time. I do double duty at the racetrack, Chief of Tech and Driving Instructor, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. but I don't even go to the monthly meetings (I have a lot more fun this way).

Grout ain't bag compared to putting down cementboard and installing the tile.

Well... I did go down to the bay. I'm really fortunate as I only live two blocks from the Chesapeake Bay. One of the most beautiful estuaries in the world. Although, I don't walk down there often enough to remind myself where I live and the wonder of it all. It's still a little cloudy today yet, but it was nice to go smell the water. It was peaceful and calm down there. I took the Skipper with me, as he gives me great insight into all things. He had a great time too!

I know what you mean Don. So many beautiful places within a short distance and I go by them with blinders on if I go by them at all. When I do stop, I wonder why I don't do it more often. I'm just caught up in the rat race I guess. I thought retirement was gonna be a cure for that.

Afternoon guys...sounds as though everyone is up and 'running' today. I got up early and sprayed a coat of finish on the table top, then the wife and I headed for the "city" to get groceries before the after church group hit. Just got back from that and we are going for a bike ride. It's cool today (mid 50's) and is going to be cool tomorrow as well.

One more coat of finish on the top and I'll be done with that job. Catch you all later.

What's up fellas? I'm a bit lethargic today due to rain and my damn foot. Oh yeah, I broke it. It's been 9 days now so it's not so painful, the problem now becomes staying off of it so it heals properly.

Supposed to go to Mid-Ohio tomorrow but the Dr. advised against it...

Don, it's crazy how things go by so quickly when you're busy. I seem to have missed 2011 and it's almost halfway over. Sadly that's one thing that this stupid foot did for me was make me NOT work on the kitchen or the car(s) or whatever. I even took a day off work last Monday. However, now I'm tired of sitting on my arse so I'm back to work...

Stained some floor trim yesterday, after all the painting I've done lately with water based products it seems like such a PITA to use an oil based product. Luckily I had some paint thinner from years ago in the garage or I'd have had a helluva time cleaning up. It took 4 hours to stain two pieces of wood, and I still have to put clear coat on them today. But it's coming together and it looks amazing. Very pleased with myself these days

Dang... you guys all made me tired reading all that 'busy' stuff, but Don I wish there were nice places like that around here. Just hillbillies.... We have a couple small lakes but my backyard isn't so bad I guess. I had a ton to do today but woke up with a fever off and on and only held the couch down all day. need to clean house and rearrange the furniture before heading out Wednesday morning for the trip. got the oil changed yesterday, got an oxygen sensor code, too hot to fool with it was frustrated all day. I think I offered someplace that I'd trade oil changing/car maintenance duties for lawn mowing and cooking.....
just sayin...

I got half the floor grouted, have to do it in 2 days because of rolling the fridge out into the middle of the kitchen to grout where it sits. I'll finish it tomorrow.

While i was waiting for the griut to dry, I slipped down to the casino for a burger, won $740.00

My camera sucks.

It's called Tempest Granite, 18x18.

The grout's easy, put it down with a float, wait 30 min. then, wipe & smooth it with a sponge. Wait 15 min and do a quick wipe with a damp sponge. It hardens in 2 hours and you can do a final wipedown.

My pic doesn't show the colors very well, web pic:

That's how I broke my foot.

Tom, that's incredible work. It took me two days to cut and stain 2 pieces of floor trim, and you made a whole table. Amazing.

I've got 2 days in a piece of floor trim too. It's a transition strip with a groove cut to fit the tongue of the hardwood and a ramp cut in to match the higher tile.
I made it out of 2 1/2 in oak. But the damn thing was over 10 ft, long, a bitch to hold steady on the tablesaw.

I told you, wearing those shoes!

Actually, it was racing go-karts. Hit a guy so hard his kart flew 3 feet into the air and came down on my foot. Nothing like the red mist...

Interesting those are very similar to some I got not too long ago but I'll take those too
They are actually way more comfortable than they look if you get quality ones.

Bill I missed that trim piece, I'm impressed. That piece looks really good and I know what you mean about the long pieces and cutting them on a table saw.

As far as the shoes go, Neat to look at, but I don't think I could walk in anything like that...my wife doesn't even try...

Nothing personal, Tom, but I don't think you've got the legs for those shoes ;-)

I've missed a piece of trim a time or two in my life too but you never catch me going around admitting it.
