Good Morning Gurus!

Sorry for the morning rant... but this has kept me up most of the night...

I couldn't sleep last night. I tossed and turned and finally got up at 4:30 to hang out here for a while.

I have been up thinking about a call I got last night from a disgruntled car show participant complaining that he thought the judging of our event on Saturday was unfair. Mind you he was complaining for a friend... not himself. The guy had four exquisite cars (truly), turn-key trailer queens that were worth over a $150k each at least... However, the people's choice only picked one of his cars for a second or third place trophy in one of the class categories. What a sore loser. He complained that his cars were so much better than the competition and it was a disgrace that some people with lesser cars walked away with multiple trophies..

I try to run a fair game and provided for some of the game playing that goes on at car shows. I kept a "participants choice" event for the gamers that like to play politics and pick their buddies cars. I also included a "Celebrity Pick which was judged by Harlan Charles from GM and the wounded warriors. No favoritism here. And lastly, I had one event judged by the people that walked in off the street. These people did screw up a bit and voted for cars in the wrong categories and picked GM muscle cars when they should have been picking Corvettes, but the numbers still don't lie. So, I just don't really know how to respond to someone like this except to explain how the different events were judged and tell them better luck next time. His other problem, was that all his cars where shown inside the dealership showroom and lots of people didn't even venture inside to see those cars. I have no idea why because the doors were wide open. Perhaps I should have had more signage or more announcements that people should go inside and vote for the red car or the black car! LOL

Taking Kathie back to the doc this morning.
Chat later

Good Morning CGs!

Don - you spent a lot of time and effort to put a great show together. Tell that guy to piss off. Don't sweat the small stuff. Also, good luck at the doctor's office!

Last night I ran just a bit over 5 miles at a good pace. I was whipped at the end, but felt good Time for new shoes, though, because I could feel it in my feet. Got to bed a little later as I calmed down. 12:30 I was in a dead sleep and heard the worst screaming shrivel of my life. I seriously had no idea what it was. I thought it was outside from an adult in trouble. Turns out it was rugrat #1 screaming for some reason. So she got some chocolate milk and a ride to mommy and daddy's bed, where she proceeded to lay sideways and kick me all night long

We set up her new pool/slide last night. This thing is pretty cool. She played with it a while until it was getting dark, and the water was chilly so I took her out. She's was already talking last night about going on it today. Looks like this:

Resized Image

Other than that, I was running the pool auto vac yesterday. Seems to have vacuumed 60% of the pool 100% of the time, and 40% or the pool 0% of the time....always works like that. The auto vacuums suck. Pretty much have to vacuum manually to get it done properly. That might be another project today.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Good morning guys....Don, some people will never be happy. You did the best you could and that's that. I'm getting my stuff together and readying for another 6 hour day in the Corvette (he says with a smile on his face). I waiting until the rush hour traffic calms down some. The wife and I may go get something to eat first.

I'll check in later when we get to Effingham.

Good morning! The called 3rd strike for the last out in the Twins' game last night was outside by a mile - maybe Don's complainer can call the league office this morning :-P

Looks like a nice day on tap, back to 78 after hitting 103 yesterday. I have a tee-time this afternoon - it would be ideal if my score was somewhere near the temperature, but not likely.

Hope the rest of your trip goes smoothly, Tom!

Enjoy your day, everyone!

Found a new website to order shoes from. I normally won't buy shoes online because I have to try them on and I'm very picky. But this is a replacement pair for the exact same model #, so I am ok with that. If you wear new balance shoes, they have great prices:

Have to follow up on the 91 today. They were waiting for some tires to come in. They said 4 to 5 days. Light yard work and pool cleaning on the agenda for today. Then I'll fill the rest of the day with something on (or off ) the list. Sis was back in the hospital for a couple of weeks. They released her to a rehab facility to try and boost her strenghth.. She was cleared by heart, lung and renal doctors. They can't figure out why she is retaining fluid. She's all swelled up. My Mom had one accountant tell her 6 years ago because of her age and her pension and Social Security she no longer had to file income tax returns. That information was WRONG. She now has to file 6 years of back 1040As and has 30 days to do it. With all the laws in place now the gubernment is in your life from cradle to grave and then a little bit longer. Fotunately she (and one of my sisters)is a pretty good record keeper so everything should be constructable.

Tommy, hope your sister gets better soon. Also, hope the tax returns work out ok. Luckily if she is in a tax bracket with little/no tax and she paid some withholding she won't have any penalties/interest. Those are almost always worse than the tax itself.

Don, I hate trailer queens so don't worry about it. I used to trailer around my 63 and show it and hated to get it wet if it rained that kind of stuff. Finally got sick of it that and the red corvette always won.......speaking of which I am still pissed I didn't win the Guru car show....I should have at least won my class..........Just kidding!

Nice water slide Matt, I could have used that yesterday! TB safe driving today and have fun.

Not as hot today so I am not dreading going out in it. If it had been as hot as yesterday today I would have called in sick I'm thinking.

Have a safe day everybody!

See now, you are management. You have to be nice to this fool. That's why I no longer am a part of "club management" and just a volunteer.
When you are "just a volunteer" you can cut the crap off in mid sentence.

I've heard all this "my car is perfect" crap before (judged 63-67 C2s for twenty years). BUT, not from someones friend.

Luckly, in my current position, SCCA Chief of Tech, there is no arguement (I gotta book that says, "You can't change the rules to fit your stupid opinion" ).

Life's too short.

I don't take crap from anyone any more.

That's why I'm a moderator here.

Supposed to be 94 here today. Wish I was home at the pool.

Don, like everyone said. F-him. pretty sad that his buddy has to call and whine at you.

Tommy, hope sis gets better and you get your tires.

Matthew, Happy Birthday! We have one of those auto pool vac things too, made by Polaris. It works good on the small maintanence things but not for the initial cleaning.

Going to look at trading my Jetta in on a new Altima for the wife. I got to get out of this lease somehow without paying VW credit thousands of dollars for mileage.

Have a good day all!

Evening guys...I made it to Effingham about 3pm local time (CT). Met up with some others and went out to eat. Looks to be a good time. I'm pooped from the drive.

Marcus, never let your AVG not update, but sometimes these little buggers get through and disable things like AVG and other important features. Then it's a real PITA to clean it up.
