Now I can start my day with a smile. My wifes 50th birthday was a success. I didn't do much, I didn't do too little. I was a good boy and didn't start any $#!+. I dedicated all the purchases of the day to her birthday. That amounted to new kitchen cabinets, a gallon of paint, a garbage disposal, a new bed for the guest bedroom, a FOR SALE and FOR RENT sign, and some cat toys. We ended the day at the casino with a steak and lobster dinner with the family. Voila! I made it through the day without totally fu(%!ng it up for her. She's back to work today ( Whoo Hoo! ). Now I'll take a nice hot steamy shower and get to work myself (without any distractions till the phone rings)

Enjoy the day ............. That's an order!

Good Morning Gents... Its gonna be a busy one for me. Two interviews that are 60 miles apart. One in Alexandria, VA and the other south of Baltimore. Got to roll but will fill you in later.

Tommy - Good going on the B'day! Keep 'em happy! "If momma aint happy, nobody's happy!"

Good Morning CGs!

Got in the car last night and started driving down the street. When I stopped, I noticed a weird sound from underneath. I opened the door and it sounds like rocks in a can from underneath...and I don't have a ZF...hmmm. I don't know what it is yet. Might be a loose bolt or something rattling. Seems like it's from the exhaust collector/inspection cover area. I'm beginning to hate this car as much as I love it. It's a delicate balance. I was committing infidelity the other night...I saw a nice 2000 blue vert for sale on the internet and I perused the pictures. Too bad it was an automatic or else I might have actually looked at it. Low miles, ok price, but the dealer was the sister dealership to where my cousin is the manager. Could have been a nice deal if not for the auto trans. Oh well. It would have meant a divorce for me, but there are more important things in life than marriage...like corvettes

I'll try to figure out the strange "noise" issue later.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Good morning guys...A quick check before I head to school. Very cool again today, 53 now headed for 79. It's Thursday and that means middle school football/volleyball, so my afternoon classes will be smaller than usual (darn). Wife will be home tonight from her meetings in Topeka, then tomorrow after school we head back to the in-laws, so we are closer to where we need to go Saturday morning for my aunt's memorial service, two hours on east.

GL with the interviews Don. Good job on the B-day party Tommy. Matt, you're going to get into trouble thinking like that .

I hope everyone has a great day.

Howdy! Another gorgeous day on tap, naturally I get to spend most of it indoors. I could've used an automatic this morning, since they chose a most inopportune time to close down 2 lanes of the freeway - my clutch leg got a workout.

Well-done, Tommy! Knock 'em dead, Don!

Have a good day, all!

You got your wife a gal of paint for her 50th?......well at least you got her a new garbage disposal and the cat toys were a big hit I am sure.... That's funny! Good job with the dinner though.....give her a big atta girl from the Guru......

I am getting ready to head up to the MIL's to put in a days work getting ready for the big auction coming up this weekend. When Gpa passed away she has been wanting to move to a smaller place and that means a big sale......I am driving the C5 up though and looking forward to that.

I bought a used 99 Chevy Stepside about ten years ago for the kids to use in high school. It stayed stock through two daughters and they loved it. We call the truck Lil Red. It has a 5.3 Vortek in it. The other day Ultraboy was mumbling about it being a girl truck so I said ok we need to man that thing up. We put some Dubs on it and dual exhaust with a Flowmaster clone muffler and cranked the torsion bars up a bit. He's happy and it turned out nice.

Have a good day Guru's!

LS power, this one has 110K on it but is using a qt every 3K for some reason. It gets all in town miles not much highway time. Put a tranny in it at 100K which is unusual so I suspect PO abuse before we got it.

The PO on mine only used the truck to tow an 8,000 lb RV for 64k miles, I tow a 4,000 lb enclosed racecar trailer about 1/2 the time. But, mines a 2wd.
Hope my tranny holds up for another 50k.

Good afternoon guys. Cool and rainy! high of 68. Ordered a Koul Tool for AN fittings, makes rerouting gas lines in braided hose and fittings easy. Clever device. Start my vocational welding class tonight at 7:00, 24 students ranging from age of 16 to 42. My wife says it keeps off the streets. Two and half hour class, tonight may go longer. They have to buy a textbook, gloves and coveralls.
Good job Tommy on your wifes B-day!

I tried a few different methods of installing ends on my braided lines and finally found one that worked well for me. I think the Koul tool would be nice to have but pricey if you buy the whole set.

You won't believe how well this tool works. I've been using them for many years, can't imagine doing it any other way now.

Well, we've been in PA since Saturday. It started raining on Monday evening and just now stopped. Streets are flooded and we are the lucky ones. Up in PeteK's neck of the woods people are having it rough.

I got to meet Pete on Monday when we dropped my dad's transmission off for rebuild. It was great to meet him. Man knows his transmissions, he had it torn apart before we got back to dad's house. It was pretty much toast due to a crappy rebuild sometime in the past. we picked up the new torque converter today. Pete hopes to have the parts in this weekend. But my wife and I are heading back to NC on Sunday so I won't be here to help him put it back in.

Dad and I tinkered in the garage some today. His mufflers are shot but he's going to have to run them for now since the trans rebuild has turned out to be a bit more than anticipated. So we welded up some holes and tacked on of the muffs back in place.
I did get to put my eyes and hands on his OBX headers, they sure are purty!!

Good evening. Welding class went well. One no show. Did a quick lab tour, explained the objectives of the course and very little about me. Ten women in the class. The great thing is there are jobs waiting for them when they complete the course. Class is Tues,Wed,Thurs night.
Don the Koul Tool was worth it, the frustration and blood was nuts. The set runs from -4 thru -12. Relocating fuel filter on the 87 convert, fuel and return lines on the 55 Chevy. Bought a Harbor Freight 6" cut off wheel (like a miter box) does a great job with a good clean cut throught the stainless steel braided hose.
