Good Mornin

I have to get cranking today. Last couple of days have been a half hearted effort. Yesterday I even took a nice afternoon nap. Have about three and a half weeks to get ready for the big bash. Then I'm not gonna do anything but the clean-up for about a week. Wifey kinda pisssed me off (like that's something new). She wants a granite countertop to repace the existing top. That's all well and good but I wish she would have thought of that before I put the new garbage disposal and dishwasher in place. The craftsman can do the top but doesn't know shit about plumbing. So I get to do some things twice. The sink is going to be lowered about 2 inches and inset under the marble top. I'm getting to the point where I just want this to be over. I know with a house your never done but for me, physically, I'm just about finished. Well folks. That's about it. Let's move on with the show ...........

For those of you that don't know ......

October 24th is National Bologna Day. Americans eat 800 million pounds of bologna a year. No wonder it has lasted throughout the ages. Bologna actually dates back to ancient roman times. Bologna is a lunch meat that is mainly used to make sandwiches and has been a household staple in many American homes and can be incorporated into many different recipes.

Bologna and american cheese sandwiches are the most popular way to eat them with your favorite condiment of mustard or mayonaiise, of course. Fried bologna sandwiches the cooked version and resembles what many call 'poor mans steak'. Using a dry skillet, place a piece of bologna in the skillet on medium high heat. Cut a slit so it resembles a little pac-man in the pan, slitting the meat will keep it from mounding up. Cook it in its own natural juice and when it is finished to your taste place it on a piece of bread, top it with your choice of condiments and enjoy.

Bologna recipe to try at home:

Fried Bologna Sandwich

2 slices bologna
1 slice American cheese
mustard
2 slices white bread (toasting optional)
ketchup (optional)

Quick story ....

We had dinner with a couple of friends last night and I was told this story during dinner.
Our friend Mark lives on a piece of property a few miles north of us. He was sleeping the other night when he was wakened by the sound of his dogs barking and carrying on about 03:00 AM. He grabbed his side arm and went to investigate. What he found was that a man in his twenties, a descendant of African slaves, had climbed his barbed fence in an isolated location. The man was carrying a small bat. He ran back to his house and hit the panic button on his alarm. Within minutes several marked units showed up and surrounded his property. They also found an accomplice parked outside his fence. That man was in possession of a shotgun and a small quantity of marijuana. The guy with the bat was taken down by one of his dogs and required 180 stitches. To this point everything seemed to be going well. Then the cop asked if he had a dog sign posted. He did. The cop then asked "What did the sign say?" He told him. The cop told him that if he had a vicious dog he had to have a certain type of dog sign posted like Guard Dog on Duty, Bad Dog or some other similar sign. His insurance company asked what the sign said and he told them. They said ... good. If he had a Vicious Dog or Guard Dog sign posted they would not have covered the liability portion on his policy because he would have in fact known he had a vicious animal.
Our friend is now concerned that the guy with the stitches will try to sue him for the injuries sustained from the dog bites. All this might well have been avoided had he just pulled the trigger and killed the sonofabitch. Ahhh yes. The Castle Doctrine. Just make sure you don't shoot em in the back. If in error you do ..... roll em over and shoot em again. I still don't have a gun but Marks story has me thinking about it again. Maybe a shotgun.

Catch-22 concerning your friend and the descendant of African salves, Tommy.
Off to visit mom at the nursing home. It's nice out so I'll be driving the '91 and throwing a few casts. Some nice bass in the pond there. Have fun while you can.

A block and half from me, we have Thomas Creek.

Right beside it is the Thomas Creek Trail, 8 miles, purdy.

It will all be over soon Tommy.....the house work I mean. I used to think the same things, will we ever not live in this mess...then a week or two after it is done it's like you can't remember how bad it was.....it's the human brain protecting itself I'm thinking....

About the guy and the dog.....like I have said in the past it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6. It is up to each individual to provide for his own defense and yes you need something sitting next to your bed in case of trouble....if you have a weapon there is a very good chance you will never need it, but you don't want it to end up the other way......just saying....

Had a nice drive in the 5 yesterday but its all work from here on out until Thanksgiving and beyond. Lots of selling and soil sampling going on...let's hit the ground running boys and girls its Monday....have a good one!

Good morning....sitting in a faculty meeting, boring info. Wish we just had students. I think your friend should have just done him in.

Weather is supposed to be nice, mid 80's. I have some work to do this afternoon.
