I wanted an item for Christmas. I went to Amazon today. The item is a hard to find thing, (just got my son's list). Amazon had it from a seller. I bought it with 3-6 day expedited delivery.

Today is December 14. With the extra I paid for shipping, they say they'll deliver it between 12/19 and 12/27! So, I contact Amazon, which isn't easy, eventually I went to chat with a "customer service" person online. Amazon can't and won't stand by a reseller. The bottom line was, sorry about your luck.

So, I asked how to contact someone at Amazon who cares that I won't be shopping there anymore. They gave me a mailing address. No email, no phone numbers.

I won't be shopping at Amazon anymore, and I told them I'd share my experience everywhere I go online. Buyer beware.

Amazon is like a mall. If you go to the mall manager, there is little they can do if a shop rips you off.

My mistake then. The implication is Amazon represents these resellers. Much like Sears selling DeWalt tools. If your DeWalt drill is defective on delivery, you take it back to Sears. Not only that, I paid extra for expedited delivery. Amazon gets a piece of that action.

I see that it's to my benefit to just google and pick a place, or use price grabber or some such. There is no value add in Amazon's value add.

Dale, sorry you had a bad experience but don't take it out on Amazon. They're basically a server. Shops list their items for sale, kind of like Ebay, on this server. You were escorted to their ad based on your search criteria. That is also where your search for answers should have started...directly from the actual seller and shipper of your item. Amazon themselves don't have any input or say in what happens after your order is placed and money has exchanged. It's then between you and the seller.

On a side note, I have been buying from sellers on Amazon for years. I've found the services are better than even Ebay. Typically no scammers and for my experiences the shipping is even faster.

I've bought from sellers on Amazon. I've never had an issue like this. I guess the time constraint and paying extra for nothing is the issue. That, and Amazon's seeming lack of interest in my transaction with the seller. I'll have a great Christmas if it gets here, or it doesn't. I'm just annoyed by how it all transpired and thought it would be useful to share.

I just sent an email to the seller.

Your frustration's understandable, Dale.

Personnally, I only buy stuff there that says "Qualifies for free super saving shipping".

That means, it's in an Amazon warehouse. Then if you pay regular shipping, it's always less expensive than the outside companies they represent. Or "super saver" it for free and wait 2 weeks.

I've learned a lesson. If it's not from Amazon's warehouse, I'll google and buy it elsewhere.

It's good to know and share such things.

Yea, find it on Amazon, then google the seller and buy direct, gives you a bit more control.

Hope they deliver your stuff by the 24th.

That appeals to me. Use Amazon, then cut them out of their piece of the action.

It's just stuff. I'd like to have it in time, but no damage if it gets here on the 27th.

It's like going to the auto parts store, you're way better off if you're carring the part number that you need.

Unless it's an EGR valve for a jeep.

Last fall I bought about 7 or 8 cd's from Amazon. I got two right away and the rest dribbled in in one's and two's for six weeks. I paid it all up front and it said they were all in stock. I guess now I know that some of them were from resellers and they did not care when I got them or they were out and awaiting supply.

I won't do that again.....

x 2. No issues and I've bought more than 10 different items from multiple sellers. Sorry for your inconvenience Dale. It seems Amazon should have some recourse with their listed sellers like ebay and PayPal do.

I just got some wireless headphones in 2 days.

But the warehouse is just outside of Reno, close to the racetrack.

There is one other aspect... the answer you got for shipping times may be a canned message. Meaning, they simply give a range and that's it.

I emailed the reseller. He said I'd have the item by Christmas. I said, great, do you have a website, I'll order from you direct next time. His answer: No, but if I ever get one, I'll let you know.

Really? I mean, a website isn't like building a store. Oh well, I still consider it a lesson learned. And even if the stuff comes on time, I'm not at all happy with Amazon's lack of interest.

I've bought a lot of stuff from them, now it will be a lot less.

I love Amazon. I can buy a shower squeegie and a Corvette belt tensioner from the same storefront without getting off my ass. Let's face it, Amazon and ebay have made small business easier. Yes Amazon is the mall, and then they have their own stock of products (with almost free shipping but higher prices).

I had an issue with a seller and actually Amazon was pretty responsive and started a dispute process.

Try this site next time email isn't cutting it. I was able to call an Amazon guy direct (in India lol) to get updated and muscle him around a bit. If Dave's Indian accent is too thick to understand, hang up, call back and try to Mary or Sam instead.
