Good morning

The end of the month is closing fast. I usually walk softly on Sunday morning so my wife can sleep in on her day off. This morning tha dogs are barking and Harry Bird is screaming up a storm. There goes my peaceful morning. Tonight we are gathering with the family to enjoy a Chinese New Years feast. My MIL and FIL like to eat traditional Chinese food on that day so we have a reservation for 20 tonight to enjoy some real Chinese cuisine. The stuff they put on the menu is not really Chinese food but food for Americans made by Chinese. I think the main course will include duck. Gatherings with the family routinely involve eating dinner. That can be good. You don't have to talk as much as long as you keep your mouth full.

Have a nice Sunday everyone. Peace be with you.

Good Morning CGs!

Up and at em....back in the game today. I was watching the weather last night and it is absurd. 30 and snow today, 47 tomorrow. It's the swings in temp that I hate. I don't mind 30 for 2 weeks in a row, I get used to it. Don't give me 30, 43, 28, 45, 33, 22, 40...etc. Ugh.

Tommy, here's a fun factoid. I worked at a Chinese restaurant all through HS and college. I used to eat real Chinese food with the cooks after work. It was very good, and you'd never see it on a menu at any regular establishment. I'd venture to say some of the "real" food you're getting isn't "real" either...lol.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Good Morning Guys...
Its gonna be a nice day again today. I think I'm off to try to hit the Annapolis, MD "Cars and Coffee" now before its too late.

Missed the Rolex yesterday and need to be filled in a bit. I was at our Awards dinner. We had a great time and I was able to recognize my team for all the great work they have done over the past year. Oh yeah I got some recognition too!
They gave me a nice plaque for my service, an infield pass for 2012 Corvettes at Carlisle and one of those high-end collapsible Pico Chairs that they sell at all the racing venues. Its nice because its heavy duty yet folds into a compact package to fit in the back of the Vette.

Tommy - have a nice dinner. Don't take your pet dog or cat with you though!!

Have a great afternoon all.

Atta boy, Don.....well done....Tommy have a good dinner......LOL on Don's, don't take your dogs or cats.....
Our Chineese restaurant was closed for awhile when the State food inspectors, on one of there suprise visits found the kitchen help cutting up a deer they had shot on the kitchen floor.....haaahahaha.....opps. Supposedly it was for their own consumption not to be used in the food sold.......uh huh....sure. They are back open and packing them in every day.

I got on early to see how things were going at Daytona but didn't get by the daily chat. Church and naps and then we will make it up as we go along. Big funeral here in town tomorrow...lots of policemen will be here since our neighbor was a detective on the Lincoln Police Force.....It's a tough deal....hug your kids if you got any or anybody that is close to you....it only takes a second and we are on to what's next.

TB safe trip home...I'm thinking you know the way....Have a good one Guru Nation.....

I have a 2 foot trophy from Reno Corvettes that says "Hospitality" on the plak. It actually means that I was a good bartender at the events.

Greetings, and congrats Don! I slept in real good, but we were up way past our bedtime last night. Had a good time - the Rolex was on the TV in the background, but I didn't get to watch much of it. Nothing on my list today except shoveling up last night's snow. Not sure why I'm going to bother since it will be in the 40's in a couple days.

Have a good one, yawlz!

Congratulations, Don - I know it's a lot of work. The wife and I are on a break from heavy club participation, but we'll be diving back in at some point.

Club stuff's coming up fast. Yesterday I ordered tech sheets, logbooks and tech stickers. I'm starting to get pre-season annual tech requests.

I'll be at the track in the beginning of March for volunteer and instructor training.
We'll get to burn down a car for the fire crew and blow up some airbags, fun.

What a great weekend so far!

I got a big surprise at the photo judging yesterday. I didn't have any thing entered this year but for my years of service both as a member and not, they presented me with a Bronze Service Award acknowledging my work.

This morning as I was getting ready to go out for a while, there was a Bald Eagle sitting in the tree outside the motel. Of course by the time I grabbed the camera, he was gone.

Picked up a new 24 inch LED monitor for the home computer, can't wait to hook that up.

Tomorrow is the long drive home, hope to set out between 7 and 7:30.

I can't wash mine in the sun or it will spot like a mofo. I usually wash it in the garage with just water and the 2-bucket system.

I got back from the Cars & Coffee thing around 11am and proceeded to put the car up on jack stands for a while. I'm planning on doing some much needed maintenance to it before autocross season. Plus, Mid-February begins an already crowded club schedule of activities beginning with a Valentine's Day Cruise and then a Karting outing at the end of the month!! I got to get things in order. I figured I'd have tons of time... well...NOT!

Crawling under the car for an initial inspection, I see that the crappy Derale trans pan is leaking around the sealing surface pretty bad. Also needs to be replaced with a better pan. I'm, just not happy with that trans pan at all. I'm looking for something that might hold a little more oil than a stock transmission pan, made out of steel and has a drain plug in the rear (not the bottom like the Derale).

I'm also going to drain the cooling system and attempt to flush the heater core.... I hope that doesn't cause any issues. I also need to order the front spoiler I have been saying I would order since Christmas. I have a $200 Mid-America Gift Card that needs flexing.

Also, When I pulled the wheels off today I found out why I have a slow leak in the left rear tire!!

Just more fun!!!

Well, it happens twice a week so...............

With such a unique and rare color, it must be kept clean.

Besides, it was covered with fiberglass dust (and so am I at the moment).

The 92 was just sayin' "Wash me, Drive me". It does have a tendency to pull hard towards a certain casino entrance when we're ridin'.

We'll see what happens today.

Awesome! You should post some links to your work. I have been a photo hobbyist since high school. Spent a couple years in some clubs shooting and doing competitions. No time for that these days but I love photography!

Ha, I'm not real proud of being a good bartender. but thanks.

You and Don know, you do this volunteer work and it's nice to get a bit of recognition. I do have some other plaques form other Corvette Clubs and some racing groups.

I'm getting a bit burnt out on volunteering, I told the SCCA this would be my last year as Chief of Tech.

Of course, now they want me to be the Time Trials Chief Driving Instructor but at least I won't have to be at the trach at 6:30 a.m.

Burnout is really easy to do when the burden is not shared. I'm still on the Board for CCA but I have shifted lots of my responsibilities to new people this year. I'm trying to phase into one of those members that just hangs out and drinks coffee at the events!

Nice drive in the C4 this afternoon.

As suspected, drivin; by the casino, the C4 veers sharply to the left and into the casino entrance.

Couldn't get thinks rolling, up $60, back down, had to leave with only a $20 profit.
