Good Morning CGs!

So I see what Tommy has been up to lately....antibiotics, sure they are....

Stopped at Discount Tire last night to get some quick quotes for the wife's car. Crazy prices. I understand it's a business but there certainly wasn't any "discounting" going on. I am going to look around on the internet and see what kind of prices there are.

Temporarily bypassed the heater core last night. If you're gonna do that, I recommend a pre-molded u-shaped hose. Otherwise the hose just kinks. Luckily, since I never throw anything out, I had some 5/8 u-shaped hose that I adapted. Should be a good fix for the time being.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Had a really good workout the past couple of days. Spread mulch Tuesday. Wednesday I checked the fenceline and filled in gaps at the base of the fence in both front and back yards. Then I trimmed a number of cataractarum palms we have as a hedge on the western edge of the yard. Getting the yard ready to let the piggies run free. Working on a pen for them too. In the interum I've been doing my pre rainy season weeding. If it's clean now it makes it easier to maintain when the skies open up and waters the weeds on routine basis. Todays plan is to take the 90 uptown on a run to the bank, pay a few bills and work a little inside the house. Maybe spread a couple more buckets of mulch. I've been doing pretty good on my second effort to fix up the house. Muscle groups are getting a good work out. I can tell when I crawl out of bed.

Have a great day gang. May the good news be yours.

Here's what a cat palm looks like.

Matt

If you're not opposed to it, check out the Primewell tires at Firestone. Many sizes and pretty good pricing. Look for a coupon offer to make it even cheaper. Unless of course you plan on getting her some Michelin Pilots.

Good morning...I got the computer first, before the wife. Matt, I put some Kuhmo ASX on my wife's car. Really nice tires and not terribly expensive.

Interesting, I found their prices less or equal to the other discounters, even T/R. One thing I did find out is that it depends on the tire make as to which discounter has the best price and it varys $50-$75 per 4. It may vary by area too.

I got some Hankooks from them for the C4 at a very low price.

Yo! The cold snap put the skids on my outdoor work, but I imagine I'll be back at it this weekend. I've been working on de-tuning my muscles all winter, so I imagine that will be derailed :-P

Have a good day, Gurus!

It is the rainy season here except the stuff coming down is frozen. Always interesting to see it snowing when it's 55 degrees out.

Slept in a bit today because its....MY BIRTHDAY!!!

My wife asked what I really wanted for my Bday and I told her....and she blushed and said "Oh my", and then I said I'd like to be 40 again.....heck who am I kidding, as reckless as I was early on I'm lucky to be 62. I'm blessed with a great family, good work, good friends on and off the internet, good health and a couple of fun toys.......I ain't complaining.....and if I do, I shouldn't.

But the phone keeps ringing so I better go to work. If you need sage advice on anything I am of the age of true wisdom and can help......

Have a good day Guru's....I plan on it.....

The Viagra Guy to start the Chat today Tommy? That has nothin' to do with Thirsday! LOL

Oh, and one word to say about your last post on lice yesterday....PRICK!!!! Now I itch!

Moms oil tank is shot. the sucker made it 90 years I would guess, but that oil smell I nosed up yesterday was a couple of pinholes. It will cost about $1600 to R/R and remove some of the oil soaked dirt. She'll lose half a tank of heating oil too. I grew up in that house. It has a dirt basement. Its a twin that was built in the mid-1800s. Originally it had a fireplace in every room. They were bricked over when the house was "modernized" to a coal furnace and indoor plumbing was added. Eventually, the coal furnace was converted into an oil burner in the 20s ? I guess. When the furnace was originally put in in the first place, there was never heat to the second floor, I think they expected to rely on the heat rising theory....my bedroom was always cold! The changes that old place has seen! Anyway, its about to see another major mess like its survived before. AAARRRGGG. But, Mom cant live like that.

BTW, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARCUS!!

Good luck today guys.

I'm a little lost. If they have to take the oil out of the tank to move the tank out, why can't they put it it the new tank? That's the cheapskate side of me thinking.

Went for a nice cruise to Miami to the credit union I'm a member of. The 90 drove great. Really enjoyed the ride. Stopped in and checked on the 928. Blah, blah, blah, busy, blah ,blah, blah, don't have any helpers. Just wanted to let him know I'd like to see some progress. Heads are on and waterpump is on. There is no time limit on this. I'd just like to get it back in the next few months. Cool this morning ..... Hot right now. It makes me sleepy but there is no time for a nap today. Going to dinner tonight to celebrate my BIL'S B-day. I love it when somebody else is footing the bill.

So Marcus, It's your birthday!

Believe it or not, there is some type of algae or microbacteria that eat oil. And over the course of time it helps form that sludge that settles in the bottom of the tank. So, putting that oil in the new tank would just be innoculating the new equipment with a healthy dose. If I had an old mercedes, Id just burn it myself 'cause that tank would already be f'd up. It will take years for a new batch to brew up a new colony using freshly distilled products. I figure if Mom lives there 10 or 15 more years, the tank will stay cleaner that way and in the end, the bank will probably get the estate anyway and it wont be my problem. I get to keep a cleaner concience (sp) turning it over to a new owner in the end. thats about it.

My fun morning involved sitting down with a car salesman at the Ford dealership working out the details on my son's new Mustang GT. Fortunately he is a nice guy. Anyway my son's specs include the track package with Brembo seats, the boss 302 radiator and cooling package, including an oil cooler and a torson (sp?) 3.73 rear behind the manual 6 speed tranny. He also wanted the Recaro seats so that is part of the package along with other interior 'stuff'. It has to be special ordered so I have about 2 months to decide if I want to keep his '04 vette or my 95. Since I already have an asking price offer on my 95 I might let it go and keep his C5.

Sorry if I said it wrong. He is getting a GT, but some of his options are from the Boss. Still the GT is 420 hp, only 20 less than the Boss. And much as I would miss my C4 I am really thinking I will sell it and keep his C5, which among other things is about 60 hp more than my 420 hp.

ps - Happy Birthday Marcus.

That sounds like it'll be a mighty nice 'Stang! I was just reading a blurb about a new Shelby 1000 model that will have 950hp - unreal.

If you don't mind my asking, what did your LT4 engine cost you?

I paid $2000 for the engine, sold the old engine for $600, so net cost was $1400.

If you don't mind my asking, what did your LT4 engine cost you?

I paid $2000 for the engine, sold the old engine for $600, so net cost was $1400.

Helluva deal, very nice!

Wait, you're talking about Tommy. Tommy and young don't often go in the same sentence unless it's:

"Did you see that old man Tommy gawking at that hot young thing?"

Andy - that sounds like a really nice mustang. I am quite fond of the new ones.

After work today I changed the oil in the wife's car and got my truck up on jackstands to remove all four rotors. Got that done and I'll get them cut tomorrow in prep of the new pads. We have a short road trip next week, want everything in top condition.
