Both could be power, neither could be.

However, if they are, they should move fore/aft and up down with little more than an electric motor whine....

i have a 96 collectors edition that has some work done to it.AFR 210 CC Heads,lt4 intake, comp 280 xfi cam, headers, egr, air delete, programmed by pcm4less ,recent tranny rebuild.they had the car for 6 weeks, took them 3 times to get it done, paid for shift kit but cant tell any difference, went with stock stall.msd opti.58mm throttle body, forged internals, msd 8.5 wires,10.7:1 compression ratio.stock gears(whatever that is,in od im 2200 rpm at 80 mph.custom valve covers,7qt canton oil pan, hydrolic roller lifters,1.6 rocker arms, and on and on. i have a book of receipts from previous owner.i know hardly nothing about the car so any suggestions are appreciated. chasis dyno last week best pull was 365hp 480lb torque @5100 rpm. does this sound accurate? motor has 9k miles since build in 09.

Welcome to the site! Sounds like a great build. I would say those are healthy numbers and right in line with your mods.

Look in the storage compartment behind the passenger seat and you will find your RPO codes, which will tell you the rear end ratio. GM1 is 2.59, G-92/G-44 is the 3.07. Sorry I can't help you with the tranny problems. Perhaps pcm4less can tell you if it is a programming problem.

the only one of those numbers i saw that matched was the GM1. There is proably 20 sets of numbers there. thanks for that info. i got another question for ya.i want to go to a 373 gear,is it worth it and would i have to change more than gear ratio or would the dana 36 hold up to the motor.

With your HP, 3.73 gears and sticky tires I would doubt if the D36 would last very long. There is a guy near us in Acworth that parts out C4s and could set you up with a D44 and 3.45 gears. His name is Chris and phone is 770-546-3504 (weekdays during regular business hours). Otherwise you could probably find a D36, 3.07 rear ready to drop in for under $500.

welcome aboard!

I agree, too much power and too much traction, the D36 well not be long for this world!!!

The engine sounds pretty stout, but with an ODBII computer, I see no reason to ship it out for programming. You need to find someone local - and you ain't far from Atlanta - who can dyno tune that beast. I will bet money you will find some more power that way.

Also, check with your local hot rod and Corvette clubs to see who they recommend.

Raising the idle isnt straightforward physically - you have to do it in the tune. However, according to comp the XFI280 cam has a strong idle so I wouldnt expect it to be rough like you describe. Before you look at idle speed I recommend you do some basic troubleshooting, maybe start a new thread over in C4 Tech. Could be anything from arc-ing plug wires (check in a dark garage) to a vacuum leak to old injectors to a poor tune.. start from the basics and work upwards.

Oh - and congrats on the car - nice numbers!

Drags - horsepower for mid track to top end.

Roadrace - torgue - always

I'd need to see the actual graph, but 'typically' a much higher torque number than HP is a characteristic of a motor with a small turbo or nitrous. If your 365hp figure is at 5500 RPM then I would say maybe the heads are restricting higher end horsepower.

However - your torque number is very very nice for a NA motor.. I bet that thing pulls hard! Personally I wouldnt mess with anything except to try and fix your poor idle.
