People had mentioned that the source for the aluminum gas pedal mount has passed away , so I mentioned this to my buddy,,, he made one and his mount arrived today, excellent quality:thumbs::thumbs:, light weight (4.3 ounces) he really did a great turn around time from the time he got my plastic mount until today was not very long.

He used a Water Jet Cutter to cut the flat plate and his CNC to cut the pivot point block and then welded it together, and then media tumbled the parts to deburr them and add a matte finish.

He is going to cut 20-25 parts, or as many as is claimed so PM or email me and I will forward his contact info

I need to see how it fits but I still don't have my car back from paint, I hope to get the car tomorrow eve.

Cost = $50

I have no stake in this, I only set it up, so I will send my buddies info to anyone that sends me a PM, he will take payment and ship to you.

Its worth more, the good thing is that he is the guy making it, I only suggested he make one and sent him a spare plastic part so he could prototype it.

I have some other prints like brake brackets, ZF 6 speed beam plates etc that I have made that I will send to him so he can be a new source "possibly if he so chooses".

If he keeps his price low on those other parts, he could be a big hitter and make some good money.

I have a drawing of the C5 to C4 fr brake bracket somewhere.
If that's what you have, I'd like to compare them.

be cautious on the beam plates... they are patent pending. Bill could come after you.

I am interested in the pedal bracket. With 184k miles on the original OEM part, I am feeling a little nervous...

Thanks for clearing that up. I should have picked up the fact he said 84-88....brake adapters would be 84-87 and 88-96.

Actually 84-88, 89-91, and 92-96
He has V1 done and a good start on V3 but doesnt have a V2 yet due to him not having a stock one to copy but is working on it

Pedals may be 84-88, 89-91, and 92-96...

but brake adapters as I stated above are 84-87 and 88-96.

He claims slight differences but is unsure if they are the same so he wants to be sure. I am going to leave it at this as it is just what he was responding to keep the interested buying party in the know.

Yet again it is a very stout piece and should mine fail or I get around to swapping my my T56 it will go in.

Here's an update:
The V1 mount (85-88) is complete and on the shelf. $60 each.
The V2 mount (89-91 is complete but not tested. The first V2 ordered is free if you can install right away, test and provide feedback. They will be $65 after verification.
The V3 mount (92-96) is complete and on the shelf. $65 each.
Shipping and handling via USPS is $10.
Payment can be check, money order or Paypal.

While we know what years the different assemblies should fit, it's hard to know if you have the original throttle pedal assembly in your car. It is possible that a previous owner or mechanic has swapped to a different version assembly. While it appears that different version assemblies will swap to different year cars, we know for sure that the V1 mount will not work with a V2 or V3 assembly. IF you suspect that your assembly may have been changed, I have a sheet that will help identify which mount you actually have. If you would like a copy of the sheet or have other questions, feel free to contact me.

Bill -

I'd be happy to test out the 89 version for you to see if it fits, but unfortunately I can't drive the car now due to trans problems. If you just want it installed I can take care of that. Otherwise, I'm sure another Guru would be willing to try it for you.

Matthew,

Installation, verifying that you have closed throttle, open throttle and no chance of sticking or other safety issues. If that works for you, email your address and I will get it heading your way Monday.

Thanks,
Bill

I think I need a new pedal assembly. I'm gonna get a new stock one though. When I did this mod last time I had to drill the stock rivet out of the pedal arm, and put the round peg in the square hole to convert to the cnc bracket.

And just as I predicted, the metal cotter pin from the kit has worn out that square edge of the pedal arm over the years and now has a ton of slop. If you have a better idea on how to to keep slop out of the entire assembly, I'm all ears.

I should mention I ditched the cnc bracket right away because it was about 3/4 off from the stock bracket, but still was forced to use the cotter pin from it. It looks like you have that fitment figured out if you are selling different brackets.

If I get around to replacing it I'll take a pic of my stock pedal that used to be fine before this whole experiment. I'm probably more likely to break it now than ever. The irony. Ok now I'm just bitching and rambling.

Ok, checked out the thread on CF. In English this time.... I could use this mount with success if I drilled out my pedal arm and pressed some bronze bushings into it.

Do you have any left that fit an 85 (low pivot), and have you thought about this type of install?

Might need a little extra width between the "C" channel of the stock arm, but it should work. I'd hate to pay for a track day and break the pedal on the first lap and have to drive home pulling on a cable between my toes. I feel like the heel toe shifting is probably twisting that mount more than god intended.

Kevin - if the pedal arm itself is rounded out, have you considered a new (used) pedal arm? There is very little material in the pedal arm itself, I don't know how well a bronze bushing would fit in there and stay secure. I wonder if you could weld a roller bearing to the outside and use a longer cotter pin?

Replacement would wear just the same. There isn't much surface there and it wasn't intended to be a bearing surface.

Stock, the pin is riveted in place and doesn't rub against the pedal arm.

I'll see what mcmaster carr has.

I agree there isn't enough surface there for a bushing or bearing. I think a solution could be to weld a sleeve to the pedal arm and mount the bearing inside the sleeve.

My pin was not riveted, it was a rolled tube that had a flared end. I don't recall if it spun in the arm itself or not.

I will mount mine this weekend, gonna take off Friday and put the car back together.

I have ZERO doubt that it will work fine, our hardware store sells bronze bushings so I can put them into the pedal body if necessary.

The problem I see with a bushing is the pedal arm is a rather thin piece of metal.

There are bushings with a shoulder on them that would press in to the right size hole.

But honestly, the pin should be either locked into the bracket or locked into the pedal arm. Maybe instead of the bushing use a shoulder bolt and nut? It could be a tight fit on one side (larger hole) and then the nut would clamp the smaller hole on the other end onto the pedal arm.

Hmm, time for a mcmaster carr order. I just need to find the right size.. but something like this:

I have had a long bolt and lock nut on the current sheet metal fabbed bracket a buddy made for me really quick for the past 3 years,

I'll post pics of it when I take it out, but the pic that CC has of the Shoulder bolt would work great and our local hardware store has bronze flange bushings that you can press into the hole after it is enlarged and then you can use a file to make the bushing thinner. It's really not a big deal

Since you were talking about a ball bearing earlier, why not adapt something like this to the pedal arm itself:

I didn't do much digging, that's one of the first pictures I saw when I googled roller bearing with mounting flange. I'm sure there is something with the correct dimensions, etc. I just don't see how a bronze bushing would be superior to the pedal arm material alone.

Ball bearing seems completely overkill to wedge in there.

1st sketch is current design. Slop everywhere. Round peg in square hole. Thin bracket arm wears against pin.

2nd is optimal, shows with bushings. Probably the most bullet proof and slop-free setup, widest distance between bearing points, good smooth wear resistant bearing surfaces, and controls radial and sideways slop. The pedal arm could be spread a tiny bit if needed for the extra width added by bushing flanges. Could possibly be done without redrilling bracket if the right size pin is found.

3rd uses the shoulder bolt. Simple and doesn't require pressing a pin in while laying on the floorboard, but will require drilling out pedal arm to clear the larger bolt. Still has slop side to side, but some nylon washers could be thrown in there. The pixel-width gaps show where the non-interference fits are.

I will sell you my patent rights to either the 2nd or 3rd design for a free bracket. ;)

Now if that bracket was basically solid with some threads instead of a hole, you could thread some short bolts in both sides rather than press a pin in. That would really make for an easy install. It's hard to find short bolts with a shank on them though, may have to use a small shoulder bolt. I wonder what next size tap fits that hole.

If when I remove my pedal arm the holes are too oblonged out, I may have to use a drill press to get the new larger hole on the correct axis. I'm probably being too picky. Hell maybe I can move the pedal a bit to one side or the other to assist with heel-toe shifting.

Not really heel toe, but I'm sort of using the left side of the ball of my foot on the brake and bumping the gas with the pinky toe side. Works fine unless your foot slips off the brake, then you go from heavy brake to no brake and full throttle, lol.

Ok, I'm getting antsy.

What is the OD of the hole in the aluminum bracket? And what is the width of the pivot part that sticks out?

Would rather just cut threads in the existing alum piece than redesign it. With shoulder bolts there is no need to use a bottoming tap or worry about thread depth or having exposed threads. Using bigger and bigger bushings and shafts never hurt anyone.

After I confirm it will be easy to do, and I measure my pedal arm, my next question where/when can I get one...

Thanks. So a 5/16"-18 thread wants a .2570 hole, it will be a tough job tapping, or I can get the correct sized bit.

These shoulder bolts have a 3/8" diameter shoulder, that puts our bushing at an OD of 1/2". Sounds pretty stout.

I'll have to check and be sure the pedal arm can accommodate a 1/2" OD bushing, which has a 11/16" OD flange trying to fit between the arm and bracket.
