Good Morning CGs!

Supposed to be mid 80s today, a change from the hot weather. That's nice to have a break for a bit.

Wanted to tinker in the garage last night, but had no energy or real desire after the day was over. So we sat on the couch and watched tv. Not too productive. I guess you need that every once in a while. I did get my vehicle emissions test done yesterday, but that was about it. I have no motivation right now. Must be the heat...yeah, that's it...lol.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Well the two hawks have taken up permanent residence. A male and a female. I've decided to name them. I call them Stephen and Sadie. That would be Stephen Hawking and Sadie Hawkins. I watch them plotting to catch small birds, squirrels and field rats. They hunt all day long and pretty much stay around my neighbors lots and mine. I work outside a lot so I get pretty close to them. They swoop low through my yard and up to the tree limbs. They don't bother the pigs or the dogs but they seem to have an interest in kitty. Maybe kitty's grey color make them think he's an overgrown squirrel. ......... It's the simple things that enetertain me.

Morning guys...glad it is Fryday. Work to do today. Maybe, if the guys get the walls textured, I'll start hanging the cabinets later today. That would do me just fine. No hawks around the house here, but we have an owl that takes care of the little rodents. Not much relief from the heat here, upper 90's today and back into the 100's tomorrow and the foreseeable future.

Happy Friday! Last night was the most pleasant evening we've had in a month - the humidity dropped and the temp was just perfect. Finally got to sit outside and enjoy a cup of coffee after dinner. I think it is supposed to get stinkin' hot again in a couple days, so I'd better enjoy it while it lasts. We have a Cooper's hawk that patrols the neighborhood every once in a while, keeping the rodent population in check - they are intelligent-looking creatures.

Enjoy your day, Gurus!

It's 61 degrees out and it feels gooood! We had a small shower come through and brought with it some cooler temps. Still up to 90 today but down in the 60's and low 70's at night.

After the shower had passed on by, the pavement dried quickly, so me and UW took the Vette out for a great evening drive. When we started the temps were in the high 80's and when we got back there were at 75 degrees...I have had the top off the car for about a week so we cruised in the cooler air out on some remote blacktops at about 45 to 50 mph. It wss a great evening ride with the temps falling in the low areas and raising as we would come up on top of the hills...the smells off the cut hay and damp earth had us taking big nose hits often. The sun was setting behind some clouds and painted a great backdrop to the evening. I haven't had the top off the car much but really like cruising that way...I can see why verts are so popular.

In house today to catch up on paperwork and make a few courtesy calls maybe this afternoon.....have a great day Guru's....

Well, here it is, Friday once again. The day that makes the rest of the workweek worthwhile.

We had some nice rain and thunder boomers last night. I hear there may have been a bit of flooding in the area but haven't seen any damage.

This weekend's activities include 2 days of pavement supermodified racing. They are such amazing cars. I usually make 1 trip a year to see them.

On the subject of hawks, I have redtails and at least one Cooper's around my work. I have redtails at the house fairly regularly. Beautiful birds.

The wife left a note on the fridge:
“It’s not working, I can’t take it anymore! Gone to stay at my Dad’s."

The husband opened the fridge, the light came on and the beer was cold.

Not sure what she was talking about! ????

That one took me a second...funny.

Hot and humid. But, yesterday, temp readout on the vette read 101 yet the car was running very nice, not hot at all.

Does make your back sweaty though against the leather seats. Running with the top down and AC on is an interesting combination.

Hawks here are hunkered down waiting out the blazing heat for the humidity of the night

Weather:

It's 93 in the valley.

At 4:30 the solar gain thru all the west facing glass warmed the house to 83 so I thought about turning on the cooler.
Thought I'd step outside first, opened the door and got a huge cool breeze.
house temp dropped to 79 which is like 74 with the heat index.

Wow, probably rusty old voices but:

Roger Daltrey and Peter Townshend, the two surviving members of the original band, have announced that The Who will perform the 1973 album "Quadrophenia" in its entirety during their 2012 North American concert tour which will visit 36 cities along the way.

.The Original Members of The Who: Roger Daltrey, Peter Townshend, Keith Moon and John Entwistle
The Who "Quadrophenia Tour" starts on November 1 and it will culminate at the end of February.
New York, NY (PRWEB) July 27, 2012

The official onsales for The Who's 2012-2013 "Quadrophenia Tour" begin on Friday, July 27th. Roger Daltrey and Peter Townshend, the original members of the legendary rock group, The Who, have announced firm plans for this blockbuster tour throughout North America. During their upcoming tour they will perform "Quadrophenia" in its entirety which is an album they did nearly 40 years ago back in 1973. As of presstime, 36 concerts have been scheduled in two separate legs with the Christmas holidays in between. The Who "Quadrophenia Tour" starts on November 1 and it will culminate at the end of February.

The Who originally came from the United Kingdom and were put together 48 years ago by Roger Daltrey in 1964 who was their lead vocalist and played harmonica and guitar. The other surviving original band member, Pete Townshend played guitar, keyboards and vocals and was the primary songwriter for the legendary band. John Entwistle, original bass guitarist who did brass and vocals, passed away in 2002 at age 57. This band was well known for their horrendous live performances which often included unfathomable acts such as destruction of instruments. Over the years The Who sold approximately 100 million records which includes 27 top forty singles in the United Kingdom and United States together, 17 albums in the top ten and 18 Gold, 12 Platinum and 5 Multi-Platinum awards in just the United States. They became popular quickly in the United Kingdom after they had a run of top ten hit singles that pirate radio stations helped boost for them. The all time favorite "Tommy" which was released in 1969 became the first of many top albums in the United States. The band suffered an unthinkable loss when drummer Keith Moon died in 1978 due to overdosing on a drug that had been prescribed to assist him with the symptoms of alcohol withdrawl. Keith Moon had led a fast and dangerous lifestyle which often included drugs and alcohol. He was known to blow up toilets for kicks and this action ended up being the reason The Who had to stay outside of New York City while on tour because hotels in NYC were fearful he would be up to his childish pranks.

Band members for the The Who 2012-13 tour will be Roger Daltrey as lead singer and guitarist, Peter Townshend at vocals and guitar, Zak Starkey (who is Ringo Starr's son from his first marriage) on the drums, Simon Townshend (guitar and backup vocals), Chris Stainton at the keyboards, Pino Palladino on the bass and Frank Simes as musical director and keyboards and backup vocals. Peter Townshend was the main songwriter of The Who. The official "Quadrophenia Tour" ticket onsale begins at 10:00 a.m. EST Friday morning, July 27th.

Originally The Who was scheduled to perform at the halftime show for the 2010 Super Bowl. Unfortunately, Peter Townshend had been having troubles with hearing so the band had to cancel this exciting opportunity to appear on television in front of millions of worldwide fans. Meanwhile, when Townshend was on the convalescing, he was busy with the creation of the band's "Quadrophenia" box set which was released in the Fall of 2011. Townshend was the main songwriter for The Who during their glory years.

Additionally, the band has produced a documentary called "The Who: Quadrophenia - Can You See the Real Me?" in which the band shows their faithful fans many happenings never seen before such as the late Kevin Moon's (original drummer) collapse onstage during their original tour's first date. The documentary has also included songs from the popular album "Quadrophenia."

The management at Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, RI advises that they will be happ;y to honor any tickets from the 1979 concert in Rhode Island that was cancelled as a precaution in Rhode Island as a result of a stampede at The Who concert in Cincinnati that killed 11 fans. The concert in Cincy had festival seating (first come first serve) and fans could hear the band playing and thought the concert had began. In reality, the band was only doing a final sound check. Festival seating was not permitted for 25 years in Cincinnati following this tradegy. The Who will visit Providence, Rhode Island on the last day of their tour, February 26, 2013.

I've been hearing them advertise for tickets recently - somehow I don't think it would be like when I saw them in '71.

Got a haircut tonight so I'm happy. Amazing how little things like that can brighten your day.

I saw The Who twice. Once in Boston at The Music Hall in 71 or 72 and later in Munich at the Olympic Stadium in 75. The 71 concert, for me, was a better show. A smaller venue. 3 encores and two busted basses. They tore the house down. We got burned on a pot purchase at The Boston Commons. Luckily, someone came through at the concert. They were one of my favorite bands at that time. I see they're opening in Sunrise at the BAC. That's the lot where we used to autocross.

I'm trying to see bands I haven't seen yet. I was almost tempted to see Stevie and Rod ......... I just couldn't handle a showfull of that. Anymore, I like to see my old favorites playing at the fairs, festivals and casinos or race tracks. I don't know. I just don't like the big venues anymore. Maybe if I had a joint and a beer .......... I'd be more inclined ...... Maybe not ..... Or if i got some FREE tickets ......

After watching Paul McCartney at the Olympics ceremony, I think I'll just stick with old recordings of my favorite bands. His singing reminded me of Katharine Hepburn. Painful

The nice thing about concerts here is that most are held in the convention center downtown. Parking is in a casino or about 1-2 blocks away. Getting in the door takes 2 minutes.
Smaller building, no hassle.

Damn you Bill .....

Moderate weather, casinos, houses of ill repute, easy concert access and Hot August Nights. I can see why you like it there.
