Good Morning CGs!

Last shopping Saturday before Christmas. Hope you all have everything accomplished. I still wanted to buy one more little thing, a zippered cd case for some dvds I bought, but no big deal. I was surprised that I came home yesterday and had a box with my wife's new sunglasses in it. I ordered them last Saturday but didn't figure they would show up until 12/26 with all the luck I have. So that's a nice treat.

Started putting together the Ikea bed frame that we bought the other day in RR#1's room. It's a big queen size with storage drawers underneath. I spent over 2 hours putting together the main frame part so the mattress could sit on it. I have to finish it later by assembling and installing the 4 drawers. It was a pretty big job. But I am working today and then tonight taking the wife out to dinner. Seems I have less and less time every day.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

We get our gifts all year long so Chriymas is just another day. If we do get a gift, it's something like underwear, socks or cologne, just so you have somethinhg to open. We do have some gifts for the few kids in our lives.

Can't wait till the New Year Holiday is over with so I can put all this stuff away and start to resume a somewhat normal lifestyle. Not for long though. My wife wants to go down to the Keys from the 19-26 Jan. for some r&r. More like f&f. Fishing and f@(%ing off. That means I have to get the fishing gear ready to rock and roll. Which reminds me. My buddies boat came within a hairs breath of sinking with us on it last year. His boat drain plug came out. Guess I should be good for a few years now. That kind of stuff doesn't happen everyday.

Well, one more gift to pick up today. That means a quick run to PA and back. Then this evening, we are supposed to go out to dinner with some friends.

Last night I went out to see the new Jack Reacher movie. Like a lot of Reacher fans, I wasn't happy with them csting Tom Cruise as the lead. He doesn't fit the character. But overall, it was well done and I enjoyed it.

Good morning all....have a stop or two to make yet also but not anything big...I don't think...

I am a big Jack Reacher fan and just can't get around the fact that they cast TC in the movie. I don't mind his work and enjoy his movies but he is not Jack Reacher. I have not wanted to even go to the movie because I know I will be dissapointed but after reading Kens post may give it a try. I know that Lee Child the author was very happy with TC being the guy.

Time now for the Guru Book Review and Timeing Association book review. This week gentle readers I will be talking about a book by Bill Ogden called, When We Were Young With Our Corvettes. California adventures in the early 60's. I enjoyed it but its not an in depth book about the car which is an Ermin white with red interior 340 hp 1962 Corvette that the author bought new and later sold. By chance he came across the same car years later and know owns it and has won all the major awards with it....

The book is about Bill's life and places he visited and people he met in the early days in So Cal. For those of you living in that area it tells a lot about the attractions that some of which are long gone now. It's also about him getting laid a lot...the Corvette maybe having something to do with that.....He has a second book out and I will read it also. Not heavy reading by any means but for those of us who had early Vettes it helps bring back the memories and adventures those cars drove us to back in the day.....and I am smiling just thinking about it.

I bought it for my Kindle Fire on Amazon so it was cheap. I would give it 4 Guru Badges out of 5.......so not a must read by any means but a good book on a cold night when the Vette is out in the shop all covered up.

Have a good day Guruistas....

Along other story lines .........

Over five thousand years ago, Moses said to the children of Israel ,
"Pick up your shovels, mount your asses and camels, and I will lead
you to the Promised Land."

Nearly 75 years ago, (when Welfare was introduced) Roosevelt said,
"Lay down your shovels, sit on your asses, and light up a Camel, this
is the Promised Land."

Today, Congress has stolen your shovel, taxed your asses, raised the
price of Camels and mortgaged the Promised Land!

I was so depressed last night thinking about Health Care Plans, the
economy, the wars, lost jobs, savings, Social Security, retirement
funds, etc .... I called a Suicide Hotline.

I had to press 1 for English.

I was connected to a call center in Pakistan . I told them I was suicidal.

They got excited and asked if I could drive a truck....Folks, we're screwed.

Greetings! Ahhh, it's good to sleep in. Not my best work, though, as the clock is still in single digits. Hardly anything on the agenda today, just have to go pick up some snacks for Christmas Eve and get the sleigh washed.

Have a good day, Gurus!

When four of Santa's elves got sick, the trainee elves did not produce toys as fast as the regular ones, and Santa began to feel the Pre-Christmas pressure.

Then Mrs. Claus told Santa her Mother was coming to visit, which stressed Santa even more.

When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two others had jumped the fence and were out, Heaven knows where.

Then when he began to load the sleigh, one of the floorboards cracked, the toy bag fell to the ground and all the toys were scattered.

Frustrated, Santa went in the house for a cup of apple cider and a shot of rum. When he went to the cupboard, he discovered the elves had drunk all the cider and hidden the liquor.. In his frustration, he accidentally dropped the cider jug, and it broke into hundreds of little glass pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found the mice had eaten all the straw off the end of the broom.

Just then the doorbell rang, and an irritated Santa marched to the door, yanked it open, and there stood a little angel with a great big Christmas tree.

The angel said very cheerfully, 'Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn't this a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where would you like me to stick it?'

And thus began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree.

Not very many people know this.

I did most of my shopping online. I can do without the stores honestly.

Although I need to do some furniture shopping I guess. I have 3 ft left to finish flooring the kitchen. Gotta figure out the door threshold to the garage before I can finish. Then it's time for baseboards and paint, toekicks, and edge molding for the marble. I really don't feel like doing more crown, I can put that off until later. (aka never).

Ring ..... Ring ......

Q: Are you busy?

A: I'm cleaning house.

Q: Can you grab the jumper cables and come over and give the skid steer a jump?

A: I'll be there in a few minutes.

Rrrrr,rrrrr, rrr, rrr. No start

Rrrrr,rrrrr, rrr, rrr.

It's been doing that. Maybe it needs a new battery.

Can you stay here a couple of minutes while I go pick up a few trees? Then we'll go get a battery.

20 mniutes later.

Look I'll go to the house get my wallet and I'll go get the battery.

Get to the parts store. Two lines, lots of customers. Guy in front of me takes about 10 minutes and the store clerk is a noob. My patience is wearing thin, especially since I don't feel 100%. Get the battery and stop by the gas station on the way home since I have to gas up to go get my mom. Gas pump runs slow as molasses. You gotta be f@(%ing kidding me. Get back to the nursery, put in the battery and head back to the house. Elasped time about 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Q: Guess what I won't be doing any more of today?

A: Cleaning house.

I'm getting dressed, packing an overnight bag and I'm outa here. 500 mile round trip. Drive up today, drive back tomorrow morning. Then do it all over again on Wednesday. At least there will be 4 hours of peace during the drive.

Good afternoon, all.

My best male friend is in town. We went out to a really nice steakhouse last night and than came home and watched various James Bond movie stunts on Blu-ray until midnight.

Got up this morning and took him over to his sister's. Traffic was California insane but the 2012 was perfectly happy.

CC, the kitchen looks really good. I like Bill H's current avatar, but than I'm a ZZ Top fan. Hard to believe that Sharp Dressed Man (with the 1984 Corvette poster in the young man's room) is almost 30 years old ...

The kitchen is looking great, CC! And safe travels, Tommy!

Meanwhile....

A crusty old golfer comes in from a round of golf at a new
course and heads into the grill room. Passing through the
swinging doors he spots the menu hanging over the bar:

COLD BEER: $2.00

HAMBURGER: $2.25

CHEESEBURGER: $2.50

CHICKEN SANDWICH : $3.50

HAND JOB: $50.00

Checking his wallet to be sure he has the necessary payment,
the old golfer walks up to the bar and beckons to the
exceptionally attractive female bartender who's serving
drinks to a couple of sun-wrinkled golfers. She glides down
behind the bar to the old golfer.

"Yes?" she inquires with a wide, knowing smile, "May I help
you?"

The old golfer leaned over the bar and whispered, "I was
wondering, young lady, are you the one who gives the hand
jobs?"

She looked into his eyes, flashed that wide smile and purred
"Yes sir, I sure am."

The old golfer leaned closer and said softly into her left
ear, "Well, wash your hands real f*cking good, because I
want a cheeseburger."

I walked down in the shop again to open the door and see how much snow, like 6 in. not enough for me to gas up the blower.
When I opened the door, my neighbor was plowing my driveway. Kwel

I think he just likes to run around on his big lawn tractor.

Har! I remember when I got my first snowblower, I went around and blew out about a half-dozen driveways, just for grins. The novelty soon wore off.

Meanwhile....

A guy and his wife are having hard financial times, so they decide that she'll try being a hooker. She's not quite sure what to do, so Larry says, "Stand in front of
that bar and pick up a guy. Tell him you charge a hundred dollars. Any questions
and I'll be parked around the corner."

She stands outside the bar for about five minutes showing her leg, when a guy pulls up and asks "How much?

"She says, "A hundred dollars."

He replies, "All I got is thirty."

She says, "Hold on," and runs back to Larry and asks, "What can he get for thirty?"

"A hand job," Larry replied.

So, she runs back and tells the guy all he gets for thirty dollars is a hand job.

He agrees and she gets in the car. He unzips his trousers, and out pops this HUGE willy.

She stares at it for a few seconds, then says. "I'll be right back."

She runs back to Larry. "What's wrong?" he asks.

"Any chance we could lend this guy seventy dollars?"

Man, all you posting the snow-blower stuff is making me shiver.

Been a busy day. Daughter got here last night about 1am. So we got to bed late. The two granddaughters woke up enough to kiss grandma and grandpa then off to bed. We got them into bed and then got into bed ourselves. At 7 am we awoke to one of the girls saying "Help". So we jump out of bed thinking she got stuck between the bed and the wall or something (it's a lofted bed). No, she is afraid to climb down the ladder. She's very much her daddy's girl.

Well, we're up now, so we just stayed up and started getting breakfast and things around. We daughter and hubby get up about two hours later, we decide to go to the "city" to eat at her favorite place and do some shopping.

What a freaking madhouse it was over there today. All I wanted to do was GTFO. When get home, everyone takes a nap...except me, I'm doing some other things and I don't get to. So tonight my butt is dragging. Not quite like those trains or the cars at US30 though

CC the kitchen is looking good.

Megatron did break Jerry Rice's receiving record, though.

I have one from my new stove, install timeframe runs somewhere like your crown molding.

How many little kids do you anticipate crawling on your stove door?

I've never installed one, and my kids survived. My dishwasher is the only thing that's screwed in.
