Morning gang.

Cold here this morning 0 when I left ans we should have a high of 13. On the bright side it's going to be sunny.

Word of the Day Monday, February 10, 2014

blatherskite\ BLATH-er-skahyt \, noun;

1. a person given to voluble, empty talk.

2. nonsense; blather.

Origin:

Blatherskite was a popular colloquialism in the U.S. in the early 1800s, thanks in part to a Scottish song called "Maggie Lauder," which featured the word (spelled bletherskate ) and was popular among soldiers during the American Revolutionary War.

Good Morning CGs!

Cold here as well, not sure of the high but it sure isn't high. Work today then a few days off to R&R. Do I ever really get to R&R on my days off? I guess not really. Oh well. I need to be retired like Tommy so I can relax every day.

Hope everyone has a great day!

HOWDY!

I have a visit with my dental hygienist this morning at 10:00. Whoo Hoo! After I will talk to my dentist about a tooth that's been bugging me. If it's more than a cavity that tooth will have chewed it's last steak.
Pleasantly cool temperatures this morning. Gonna uncover the 90 and take it for the ride uptown. Maybe take along a kick ass cd that hasn't seen any daylight for awhile. Well, that's the plan. We'll see what falls into play for the afternoon under an open schedule.

Roum enke maleye!

The alarm clock was a most unwelcome sound this morning. On the bright side, the "-" is still functioning properly on my car thermometer - it was a balmy -10 when I left this morning. One more day of that crap before it starts to warm up a bit. I'm ready.

Have a good day, yawlz!

It takes a special kind of moron to drive the wrong way on a freeway - sadly, when nature weeds out the stupid, other innocent people often pay

Morning guys... Cold here, but in comparison, almost tropical at 9. We start the warmup tomorrow and by Saturday they are saying 60.

I was met this morning by another teacher who came in and used the shop this weekend. He starts the conversation with "I'm sorry." He broke the bandsaw blade, I said, "It's no big deal, we break them all the time. That's why I have a blade welder." He felt bad though, and in my eyes that's better than just walking away from it like usually happens and I never hear who did it.

Busy week with two home b-ball games, tomorrow and Friday and P-T conferences Thursday night.

Stay warm gurus.

Welllll....its Monday......that means going back to work and trying to make a living. The good news is it may hit 40 this week....bring it is what I say....Cabin fever is starting to set in......must see palm trees.....

Not much else going on, Uwoman is headed to Seattle to see #1 daughter mid week. There may be shopping involved I'm thinking.....just me and the doggie and a MacDonald's gift card......left to fend for ourselves....

Well better go do something to try to keep the wolf away from the door....have a wholesome day Guru's...

I did watch the Winternationals yesterday on ESPN. Does Pro Stock run 1000 ft also or do they run the 1/4 mile? Love him or hate him John Force knows how to drag race. I kinda like him......he's an old guy who keeps on going. In fact I was suprised how many old guys were still racing.

Must not take much to slam the throttle down and hold on...geez those cars are fast. I do like the slomo of the explosions where it rips the whole body off the funny cars....as long as no one gets hurt. Force has some fast daughters also......

Pro Stock runs the 1/4.

I like Force, they spend a lot of time here at Tahoe.

Alrighty then, lets talk weather.

As always the weather here doesn't screw around, the term used here is "really" as in really nice......and at times really nuts.

It's been really windy and it really rained for the last 3-4 days, didn't bother me cause we're in a drought and it was in the 50's when it rained.

So:
The ski slopes above my house got 38 inches of snow (I got 0).
The mountain peaks got 5 feet,

The rain/snow on Lake Tahoe raised the water level 4 inches

Which equals........13 billion gallons.

Really

No, the lake went down......drought remember......now it rose up.

Actually, we need another blast like this to get the lake up close to normal.

As long as it doesn't happen on the 25th & 26Th when I gotta tow that race trailer over Donner Summit.

Wow almost feel bad you guys have to work. School holiday here. finally got rain a gully washer. 1/16 of an inch

Well Obama is coming out here to California to talk about the drought and kiss environmentalist butts on saving the delta smelt.
Delta Smelt v. Central Valley Farmers: The Battle Continues

In 2007, federal judge Oliver Wanger imposed limits on the amount of water pumped from the San Joachin-Sacramento River delta to farms in California's Central Valley in order to protect a two-inch endangered fish called the Delta Smelt. As a result, several hundred thousand acres of farmland on the west side of the Central Valley now lie fallow, and many thousands of jobs have been lost. In the city of Mendota, for example, the unemployment rate exceeds 40%.

Today, the US House of Representatives debated H.R. 1837, a bill that would turn the pumps back on. House Speaker John Boehner said on the House floor today that using the Endangered Species Act to protect a fish at the expense of food production and economic growth is "a perfect example of the overreach of government."

If the bill passes, Obama says he'll veto it.

Reason.tv on the Delta Smelt.

Yea Willows.

The guys who run their street cars on the track think it's a long way too.

For the racers, towing to Willows is like running over to the 7-11.
It's only 4 1/2 hours for a normal tow (4 hours if I'm driving the tow vehicle

Gary's a HPDE driver, he said "guess we have to get a hotel for 2 nights." , I laughed and said "I'll drive home that night."
If I did a test day there when I was racing, I'd leave here at 3 a.m., run the race car all day and then drive home.

Sears Point in Napa takes the same drive time.
Laguna Seca is 6 /12
Las Vegas, Willow Springs and ButtonWillow are 8 1/2.
And I always left the track at 5 p.m. and drove home, go to work the next day.

Portland International is 12 1/2 but we use 2 drivers.

I'm with Gary on this one. I would go to bed at 06:00 the evening before getting up and leaving at 03:00 AM. Take a nap when I got there, drive, load up , find a motel, take a nap, go out to eat, go to sleep, wake up the next morning, drive home, take a nap, then unload everything that needed unloading. Then DNBFS.

Yes, the sit & stare crowd feels the same.

Thought most would:

Think about going

Say they're going......someday.

Say their going to the next one.

Then forget about it cause someone asked them if they wanted to sit by the pool.

Keep bustin my balls Bill. One day it might have a positive result. I saw an SCCA racecar heading out from the track on Saturday. It was an 80's 930. Somebody's doing it. My financial situation is about to change so anything is possible. By the way ........ At 58 I don't have a lot of issues with sitting and staring. I was a late bloomer to the autocross scene. Better late than never. DE is possible. I'd probably come to love it but my reflexes ain't what they used to be. Vision issues to boot. At least I'd be able to go as fast as my abilities would take me. Fast enough to be slow on the track. ......... I still enjoy driving spiritedly. Matter of fact I gave the 90 a good run today and the 928 a couple of days ago. I'm not dead yet. There is still plenty of fun to be had.

Oh, U can count on it.

I been doing this to S&S'ers since I was 18.

Reflexes and vision are excuses, I once had an 80 year old grandmother as a student.

There's only 2 criteria:

1. Safety
2. Have Fun

If you want to drive 60 mph on the straights, so be it.

At least I'd be able to go as fast as my abilities would take me. Fast enough to be slow on the track. ......... I still enjoy driving spiritedly.

Most people are very surprised at what they can accomplish by the afternoon sessions. At least if they have a high caliber instructor.

Guess that C4 with the huffer on it could run a little faster.

Cerally, you run the way you want to, especially in the first event.
We have people come out that just want to drive the track in their Corvettes, not to reduce their lap times at every event.

But with your autocrosss (ugh ) experience, I think you'd surprise yourself.

Left school about 4:30 a few snowflakes flying. By 5 it was snowing full out. I've felt crappy all afternoon, dull headache and my elbow is sore and swelling again. I've got an appointment to see the dr tomorrow.

I want to drive as fast as I can...I'd even settle for a purple c4 to do it in

If I could ever get my car out there I would love to track it.
