Good morning gang.

I'm back after a day off. We got the camper out of the camp ground an into storage. This move saves us over $100 a month. I also put all the insulation back under the trailer that I took out when my water heat took a dump and now I'm paying for it as I'm a little itchy. Next major project is to clean the garage up so I can put the car back.

I would like to say Happy Aniversery to my wonderful Wife. 9yrs today. Been together for 13 though. Looks like a nice day here in N.E. Indiana with clear skies and temps in the mid 80's.

Lets get going shall we.

Word of the Day Friday, July 25, 2014

laciniate\ luh-SIN-ee-eyt, -it \, adjective;

1. Botany, Zoology . cut into narrow, irregular lobes; slashed; jagged.

Origin:

Laciniate entered English in the 1750s from the word lacinia which referred to a jagged part of a leaf.

NATIONAL HOT FUDGE SUNDAE DAY

Today we honor an ice cream dessert combing hot and cold and loved by most, it is National Hot Fudge Sundae Day. Annually celebrated on July 25, we honor this tasty treat that has been served to many since hot fudge was first introduced in 1906.

A variation to the classic sundae, the hot fudge sundae is a creation of vanilla ice cream, hot fudge sauce, whipped cream, nuts (optional) and a single, bright-red maraschino cherry on top.

NATIONAL HOT FUDGE SUNDAE DAY HISTORY

We were unable to find the creator of National Hot Fudge Sundae Day, an “unofficial” national holiday.

NATIONAL MERRY-GO-ROUND DAY

July 25 is a day associated with carnival music and children’s laughter as we annually celebrate National Merry-Go-Round Day.

The merry-go-round (also known as a carousel) is an amusement ride that consists of a rotating circular platform with seats on it for it’s riders. It’s seats are traditionally in rows and are made up of wooden horses or other animals mounted on posts. Many of they animals are made to move up and down to stimulate galloping and are accompanied by circus music.

Names of the animals normally consist of Galloper, Jumper, Roundabout, Horseabout and Flying Horses.

Any rotating platform may also be called a merry-go-round and on a playground, is usually a simple, child-powered rotating platform with bars or handles to which children can cling while riding.

◦The earliest known depiction of the merry-go-round is in 500 A.D. in the Byzantine Empire, which depicts baskets, carrying riders, suspended from a central pole.
◦Hessville, Ohio was the site of the first United States created merry-go-round. It was created by Franz Wiesenhoffer during the 1840′s.
◦July 25, 1871 – The first carousel patent.
To celebrate today, find a merry-go-round and have fun…..they are not just for the kids and there is a kid in all of us!!

NATIONAL MERRY-GO-ROUND-DAY HISTORY

July 25 was chosen as the celebration day for National Merry-Go-Round Day, an “unofficial” national holiday, as it coincides with the first United States patent that was issued for the modern carousel. That patent was awarded to William Schneider of Davenport Iowa on July 25, 1871.

On a side note yesterday was NATIONAL TEQUILA DAY

Are you ready for July 24, 2014? It is the annual celebration of National Tequila Day.

◦Tequila is a distilled beverage which is made from the blue agave plant.
◦Made primarily in the area surrounding the city of Tequila, 40 miles Northwest of Guadalajara and in the highlands (Los Altos) of the western Mexican state of Jalisco.
◦More than 300 million blue agave plants are harvested in that surrounding region each year.
◦Agave tequila grows differently depending on the region.
◦Blue Agave – grown in the highlands region – larger in size and sweeter in aroma and taste.
◦Agave – grown in the lowland region – have more herbaceous fragrance and flavor.
◦Mexican law states that tequila can be produced only in the state of Jaliscoand limited regions in the states of Guanajuato, Michoacan, Nayarit andTamaulipas.
◦Mexico is granted international right to the word “tequila”.
◦Bulk amounts can be shipped to be bottled in the United States.
◦Tequila is normally made at 38-40 % alcohol content but can be produced between 31-55 % alcohol content.
◦Don Cenobio Sauza, founder of Sauza Tequila and Municipal President of the Village of Tequila from 1884-1885, was the first to export tequila to the United States.
◦The Consejo Regulador del Tequila (Tequila Regulatory Council) in 2008, reported 901 registered brands of tequila from 128 different producers.
CHEERS! HAPPY NATIONAL TEQUILA DAY!

NATIONAL TEQUILA DAY HISTORY

Within our research, we were unable to find the creator and the origin of National Tequila Day, an “unofficial” national holiday.

It's the weekend so let's celebrate this great gift from the gods.

I found the other week a coffe flavored Tequila by Cabo Wabo and that stuff is smooth and tastes great.

Bondjoû!

I was rudely awakened at 4:45 by pitter-patter-Pitter-Patter-PITTER-PATTER-SWOOSH-Flicker-FLASH-rumble-Rumble-Rumble-BOOM. At least it let up a bit by the time I had to roll the garbage down to the end of the driveway. In any event, I will make a bee-line for my nap chair when I get home.

Happy Anniversary, Mike!

Stay dry, Gurus!

Morning guys....I was able to find, mostly, inside, with the AC on, work yesterday. I'll need to do the same again today as they are predicting 100+ again for today and tomorrow. Picked up another job or two yesterday. One was a job doing design work for a Mennonite guy wanting to build a carousel to store metal on. Rotates around to the correct tray, slide it on to his cut-off saw, slide it on to the saw, cut, and slide the rest back on to the tray. Quite ingenious actually. He had it worked out pretty much, but needed to know some clearances of the trays as they went around the top and bottom of the unit. As I designed it I came up with a few "wrenches in gears" problems that now he has to do some other figuring to make it work. The thing is going to hold 50,000 lbs. of various metals.

How about them Royals! Took 14 innings last night to put away the Indians. Great ballgame to watch. Great pitching dual.

Well, I've got to get out to the shop before it gets too hot.

Good Morning CGs!

Happy anniversary to you and the wife, Mike.

So yesterday after I came home from working at my folks' house I got a call from the neighbor. He said the worker said the van (my arch-nemesis) was squeaking and needed front brake pads. Brought it over at 3 pm so I could look at it. I looked, the fronts were worn but nothing too major. A replacement was a good idea. I went to get the front pads and on the way (of course) he said can you do the back pads, too? Suuuuuuuure. So I buy both sets and get them home. Throw the fronts on without too much drama. Pull the rear wheels off and get everything apart, the rear d/s pad was down past the friction material and was only the metal backing plate. Of course it destroyed the rotor. So had to get two rear rotors, as well. So my 45 minute job turned in to 5 1/2 hours. Now you know why I hate that van!

Wife has a follow up appointment today for her incident yesterday. She was still a little woozy yesterday and the medicine makes her drowsy. I hope today is better for her.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

I like how he bent in the doors and windshield frame to accommodate the melding of the two vehicles. I'm quite sure there is duct tape and bailing wire involved in this modification.

Corvettes for Sale:

I just did an evaluation on a 66 Coupe in Gary's shop.
66 Sunfire Yellow Coupe
427/390 NOM engine, 4 speed
Very nice black interior
Possible older restoration because the frame's still black, no rust.
Nice driver, could use a paint job

A real 68 427/435, 4 speed, needs work but it is original.

The body is a genuine "no hit" body.

The car is maybe the biggest basket case I've seen but is all there including a newly rebuilt fuel injection unit.

He paid big bucks for this car.

Good, then I don't have to find out the price.

Have him find a nice older roadster restoration....he's seems to know where every decent C2 in the country is....

I SEE WHERE THE PROFIT MOBAMA IS GOING TO CUT OUT THE MIDDLE MEN AND BRING ILLEGAL ALIENS DIRECTLY TO THE US AT TAXPAYER EXPENSE. IS THAT A GREAT PRESIDENT OR WHAT?

I don't pay that much attention, 63-64, 57-58.
