Good morning gang.

Snow and wind blowing here this morning make the commute around town hectic. The temps today will be falling all day as the snow stops.

Word of the day is interosculate

Today is NATIONAL APRICOT DAY

Apricot lovers from all over the United States celebrate National Apricot Day every year on January 9th.

NATIONAL STATIC ELECTRICITY DAY

Each year on January 9th, people across the nation celebrate National Static Electricity Day.

According to wikipedia, static electricity is an imbalance of electric charges within or on the surface of a material. The charge remains until it is able to move away by means of an electric current or electrical discharge. Static electricity is named in contrast with current electricity, which flows through wires or other conductors and transmits energy.

A static electric charge is created whenever two surfaces contact and separate, and at least one of the surfaces has a high resistance to electrical current (and is therefore an electrical insulator). The effects of static electricity are familiar to most people because people can feel, hear, and even see the spark as the excess charge is neutralized when brought close to a large electrical conductor (for example, a path to ground), or a region with an excess charge of the opposite polarity (positive or negative). The familiar phenomenon of a static shock–more specifically, an electrostatic discharge–is caused by the neutralization of charge.

Good Morning CGs!

Supposed to get up to a balmy 4* today with a windchill of around -14. School was cancelled for the past 2 days, but apparently it's back in session today. I thought it shouldn't have been cancelled in the first place. Oh well. I guess when we were kids we only got snow days, not cold days. Times change.

Work today then off for the weekend so that will be nice. Have some plans for Saturday night and then not much else decided yet.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Xeweni!

The "-" sign reappeared on my car thermometer, so it must be cold. Roads were quite slick - an appropriate speed for the conditions was probably 35-40, so of course we were going 5-20 most of the way in. Delightful. Even more delightful was my electric bill - $415.

Enjoy your Friday, Gurus!

CLOUDY AND COLD, 28 DEGREES. NWS SAYS "SUNNY"; BUREAUCRATS DON'T BOTHER TO LOOK OUT THE WINDOW, I GUESS.

BRAKES ALL FIXED UP ON THE '87, I FEEL A LOT BETTER ABOUT DRIVING IT NOW. GOT A FEW ERRANDS TO RUN TODAY.

I'M FED UP WITH WINTER ALREADY AND IT AIN'T EVEN FEBRUARY YET. DAMN!

Morning guys....cold but not as cold as most of you are experiencing. Busy morning with new middle school students, the MS program is just semester long, so I get a whole new batch this spring semester. Trying toi get them whipped into shape, as to my classroom rules and procedures.

Haven't seen our bill for last month, maybe Rosie is hiding it from me.

Who has electric heat, gas or oil heat by type? Just wondering. Do you all have your t-stats set to 68*? Nice day temp wise here but a little overcast. Precious (the dog) got her sutures removed from her eye and the satellite dish taken off from around her neck. She's doing pretty well, thankfully. Sue went to trim my beard this morning. Apparently the #3 trimmer attachment slipped off the clippers and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Instead of a full beard I now sport long sideburns and a gotee. Kind of look like an early 70's throwback. With the full beard and long hair I still kind of looked like an early 70's throwback so it's a marginal difference. Might have to trim my sideburns up a little higher though. My Grateful Dead t-shirt is looking to come out of the drawer. Seems it would only be appropriate.
Now I'm waiting for the pig's vet to stop by. We want to get Dottie some antibiotics to aid her recovery from her fight with the neighbors dogs. Everybody is licking their wounds and all look like they'll be OK. Trying to get my fishpond balanced. Just had an algae issue that I've been working through. Pond looks better but I'm figuring out Koi pond care now with pond clarifiers. Always learning something new. (Not that I want to.) Brought the 90 Corvette up to the shop this morning for the 0 mph speedometer and stalling issue. Have three more vehicles that I'm taking in for work. Getting the fleet put back together again with all the little jobs that need done. Rest assured, there is no algae or moss growing on me ............ No sir!

What a coincidence, Tommy, today's ball game theme is "Throwback" I told them "I AM throwback".

Yeah....that's a classic I hadn't heard for a long time, thanks Tommy....those trucks are being a pain in the ass right now in this cold weather....stuff just doesn't want to run and work when its this cold...me included.

Went in for my checkup today and all is well at this point.. got a full physical coming up in June...if I start now I can be ready for it.....lose 20 lbs...and get into shape....

....as I was leaving Lincoln I musta blacked out for a second because all of a sudden I found myself sitting in an IHOP eating unlimited pancakes.....with bacon chasers....niiiice! I'm much better now....

Back to work Guru's......yehaaaaa....

Back to work
