Good morning gang.

Cold here to start but should be sunny most of the day with temps in the mid 20's to low 30's.

Congrats to GS#2 Tee.

Word of the day is dalles.

Today is NATIONAL CHOCOLATE CAKE DAY

January 27 is National Chocolate Cake Day. Although it is an unofficially recognized holiday, it is celebrated by chocolate lovers everywhere. If you are a chocolate lover then this is the day for you! You can bake a chocolate cake, buy one, eat it all yourself or share it with family and friends.

In America, chocolate was consumed primarily as a beverage until the 1830’s or 40’s. Cakes, as we think of them today, mostly did not exist then. According to the Dover Post, chocolate cake was born in 1765 when a doctor and a chocolate maker teamed up in an old mill. They ground up cocoa beans between huge millstones to make thick syrup. The liquid was poured into molds shaped like cakes, which were meant to be transformed into a beverage. Years later, a special dessert was created for a prince in the 1800′s by an Austrian chef. He used two layers of chocolate dough with jam spread in the middle. Chocolate frosting was then poured over the dessert. Hence the birth of the chocolate cake!!

The first boxed cake mix was created by a company called O. Duff and Sons in the late 1920’s.
The first “just add water” Betty Crocker cake mixes were released in 1947.

This recipe if one of the earliest printed recipes, for chocolate cake, in America. It comes from the cookbook “The Hostess”
NATIONAL CHOCOLATE CAKE DAY HISTORY

After long hours of research, the day of origin or the created was not found. We wonder if maybe it was a baking company, a chocolate company, a bakery, a baker, or a chocolate cake lover. Whomever it was, we are sure glad that they did! Enjoy your day and your chocolate cake!!

Good Morning CGs!

The movie yesterday was very good. I'd recommend seeing it. I am a big fan of Clint Eastwood movies that he directs.

Kids and I seemed to come down with a one day flu yesterday. Beat me up pretty good but feeling better today.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Greetings! That movie is on our list, too. Another decent day on tap here, looks like the bottom won't drop out of the thermometer until Sunday. And maybe yesterday's car wash will last more than a day. Continued mojo for east coast folks.

Have a good one, Gurus!

Morning guys...It's 41 when I headed off to school, looking to be 74 today, maybe a record high. Not rubbing it into the noses of our NE members, but today is going to be glorious. Basketball again tonight, defending state champs that didn't lose too many players. Could be a long night, or we might rise to the occasion....we have the talent, just getting them in the right frame of mind.

That flu seems to be hit and run, Matt. Thanks Mike, he needed that badly.

We watched that movie the other night. Really great movie. Sad ending though.

THE "FINAL SOLUTION" WAS THE VERY INCARNATION OF EVIL. IT'S BLAMED ON IDEOLOGY, BUT IT WAS CARRIED OUT BY HUMAN BEINGS WHO KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THEY WERE DOING AND DID NOT GIVE A SHIT.

NOT THE FIRST SUCH GENOCIDE, BUT CARRIED OUT WITH A TEUTONIC ORGANIZATION AND PRECISION THAT MAKES IT SEEM DEMONIC.

The boys couldn't quite pull it off tonight. We lead at the end of the 1st and had them scrambling. Stayed there throughout the 2nd quarter just losing the lead at halftime by 3.

Came out in the 3rd and they got hot and went up by 18 or 20, but our boys never let up, they continued to battle to the end. GS had a pretty good game.
