Good morning gang.

Cold here to start the day. Temp at the house was -1* and we should reach highs in the upper teens.

If this week continues with the cold we'll have one of the coldest months of February on record.

On with today.

Word of the day is brolly.
Today is NATIONAL BANANA BREAD DAY

National Banana Bread Day is celebrated annually on February 23rd.

A moist, sweet, cake-like quick bread, banana bread is made with fully ripe, mashed bananas. There are some recipes where banana bread is made as a yeast bread when it is then usually sliced, toasted and spread with butter.

It was with the popularization of baking soda and baking powder in the 1930′s that banana bread first became a standard feature of American cookbooks and appeared in Pillsbury’s 1933 Balanced Recipes cookbook. Banana bread later gained further acceptance with the release of the original Chiquita Banana’s Recipe Book in 1950.

The United States saw the arrival of bananas in the 1870′s and it took a while for them before they appeared as an ingredient in desserts. Bananas were expensive and housewives did not want to throw the overripe ones away therefore during the great depression, the actual Banana Bread recipe began being published.

There are many different variations of the traditional banana bread, a few of which include:
Banana raisin bread – Banana nut bread – Chocolate chip banana bread

To celebrate National Banana Bread Day, try one of the following “tried and true” banana bread recipes:

NATIONAL BANANA BREAD DAY HISTORY

Within our research, we were unable to find the origin and creator of National Banana Bread Day, an “unofficial” national holiday.

NATIONAL DOG BISCUIT DAY

All dog owners, remember that February 23rd is the annual celebration of National Dog Biscuit Day! This day is also celebrated around the world as International Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day.

Man’s best friend deserves a special treat, whether it is as an award for their behavior, as part of their training or just because we want to show our dogs how much we love them.

Following are a few “tried and true” homemade dog biscuit recipes you may want to make and give to your furry friends.

Interesting how these days come around. I was just thinking of looking for a banana bread, bread machine recipe to put that dust collecting appliance to work. Saw a short on the news about making your own dog biscuits too. Peanut butter was one of the main ingredients and they were fit for human consumption to boot. I'll probably do neither but I thought about it. Went to bed before 10 last night. Not too common for me to do that. Unfortunately the dogs woke me up this morning at 05:00. I saw no point in going back to bed. Sue's on he way to deep in the Florida Key's. Going almost down to Key West for a delivery. I could have joined her but .......... I'm sure I have better things to do. Think I'll start with paying bills, file a few things and move on from there. Have to start putting the tax stuff together.

Welcome back, Brad. Unfortunately all good things must end. Less than 5 weeks till I walk the gangway. Wooooooooooot.......Woooooooooooot.

Morning guys....cold here this morning, not as cold as further north, but cold for us. Got another inch or so last night of the white crap. We need the moisture though so I'm not going to complain that much. No school today for us, and much of this part of the state. I'm going to try to hang cabinet doors today and later I have a dental appointment.

All you guy's snow posts from yesterday gave me the chills. No wait - it really is cold here again. This getting warm then back in the teens is driving me nuts. I'm tired of being cooped up in the house. And with this new smart tv Im bout to turn into a geek freak cause of it.
Still keeping my eye open for a car but realizing they won't come down in prices now cause the warm season is around the corner. I need to at last put the check in the bank though, says i have 180 days to cash it.

Good morning, all.

After the six inches of snow Saturday evening and yesterday morning, it made it up to 41 degrees yesterday afternoon.

Back to winter today - it is 25 degrees and falling as I write this around 9:00 AM. The temperature will drop all day today. The long term forecast teases me by promising 55 degrees on March 7th.

Now less than forty days until our Route 66 trip - the basics are pretty well locked down. Louis will need an oil change, a fix for the driver's side seatbelt ratchet, and the low beam wiring recall. Otherwise, he's pretty ready to go, though Ivelis wants a full detail before we head out.

Hidey-ho! Looks like it'll be 15 here today, which is a lot warmer than it was yesterday. I'm not in any hurry to go out and sample any of it. I took today off, gotta ease back into reality. Meanwhile, the omelet gal and beach waiter are nowhere in sight

Have a good day, yawlz!

Good Morning CGs!

Back from our mini vacation. We all had a great time. A lot of driving for a short trip, but it was worth it. Myself and both the kids went skiing for the first time. I caught on pretty quick and was hitting the big mountain in no time. RR#1 got a private lesson and picked up some tips then I worked with her some more. She was skiing the bunny hill like a pro after about an hour and a half. RR#2 started to get it, but after a potentially nasty crash, wife pulled him off the slopes. That's what helmets are for, honey We are back and I have a couple of days until the real world starts again so I'll enjoy it.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Brad ..... did you happen to catch a donkey show while you were there? Maybe you should hire Maria and Pedro to come over and fill in for a week as substitute omelet girl and wait staff till you readjust.

Well, I didn't get the cabinet doors on, but got some other stuff gone instead. And got to the dentist to have my checkup.

I like coffee too.

The word from my SIL is that my brother had a good night and they were hoping to get him in a chair today so the PT could come work with him. Get him off the ventilator and on a Cpap machine. So I guess that's good news.

I don't think it got past "so cold and harsh wind you can't feel your face" here today. Changed plugs and wires in the truck. Why does something that looks so simple end up being such a pain in the ass? Note to those who may have an 00 GMC Sierra - the back one on the passenger side is a (#&$(#$(#* ... I figured out a trick but geez..
And, it's easier to just toss a blanket up there and crawl up there with it rather than trying to stand on a stool and reach your short self down in there....

I remember doing the plugs on my 99 silverado, Letty. And I also remember that the back one on the passenger side was a PITA. I just changed out the plugs and wires on my 09 Silverado and it was a bit easier.
