Good morning gang.

Chilly here today. Temps in the mid teens and we should see the low twenties. But tomorrow we're back to the artic freeze with morning temps at or below zero and daytime highs in the low double digits.

How's your brother doing Tom?

Let's get going today.

Word of the day is Pickwickian.

Today is NATIONAL CHOCOLATE COVERED NUT DAY

National Chocolate Covered Nut Day is celebrated, each year, on February 25th. A day for the delicious crunchy nut to be enjoyed once it has been covered in chocolate. The possibilities are endless as there are so many different types of nuts as well as different types of chocolate.

For thousands of years, nuts have been a staple of the human diet. The walnut was a favorite of the ancient Greeks and Romans while the pecans were a favorite of the Native Americans.

** Both chocolate and nuts can be good for you **

Dark chocolate seems to posses substantial amount of antioxidants while the nuts contain the essential fatty acids linoleic and linolenic acids, and the fats in nuts for the most part are unsaturated fats, including monounsaturated fats. Nuts also provide arginine, a substance that may help make the walls of the arteries more flexible and less prone to blockage from blood clot formation. Many nuts are good sources of vitamins E and B2, and are rich in protein, folate, fiber, and essential minerals such as magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, copper, and selenium

** The original chocolate covered peanut candy are Goobers which were first sold in 1925. The word “Goober” was a common slang word for peanut. **

One of the more well known chocolate covered nut is the M & M. These chocolate covered peanuts or chocolate covered almonds have become a favorite of many. The peanut M & M was introduced in 1954. They were tan until 1960 when the colors red, yellow and green were introduced.

Whether it be unsweetened chocolate, sweet chocolate, semisweet chocolate, white chocolate or dark chocolate mixed with peanuts, cashews, almonds, macadamias, pecans, or any other nut, enjoy your favorite combination!!

NATIONAL CHOCOLATE COVERED NUT DAY

National Chocolate Covered Nut Day, sometimes also called National Chocolate Covered Peanut Day is an “unofficial” national holiday. Our research has failed to find the creator or the origin of this holiday.

NATIONAL CLAM CHOWDER DAY

Each year on February 25th, people across the nation have a bowl and spoon ready to be filled with clam chowder as they prepare to celebrate National Clam Chowder Day.

Clam chowder is any of several chowders containing clams and broth. In the chowder, along with the clams it is common to find diced potatoes, onions (often sauteed in pork or bacon drippings) and celery.

Following is a list of the primary clam chowder variants:
◦New England clam chowder
◦Manhattan clam chowder
◦Rhode Island clam chowder
◦Delaware clam chowder
◦New Jersey clam chowder
◦Hatteras clam chowder
◦Minorcan clam chowder
◦Long Island clam chowder

To celebrate National Clam Chowder Day, enjoy one of the following “tried and true” clam chowder recipes:

NATIONAL CLAM CHOWDER DAY HISTORY

Within our research, we were unable to find the creator of National Clam Chowder Day, an “unofficial” national holiday.

Full days ahead for the forseeable future. B-day party dinner tonight for SIL at the Casino, Friday night Rotary auction, Saturday, delivery of donation to a local school, plus all my regular stuff and whatever the phone rings for. I know the phone will ring. There are several things hanging in the wings.

Ring .............. Ring ..............

Wifey said to me last night, The first one of us to go, the other one's in trouble. Too much stuff to do for one person. More than enough stuff to do for two.

Time to go ............

I wrote a post and whammo, off into the wild blue yonder. Anyway. I started the day with some f@(%!~g plumbing. Replaced an on/off valve, two couplers and a 45. It's warm out. Very warm. Already broke a sweat. Time to move on to other things. Lots of other things. Thanks to the wife my projects grow more and more each day. I tell her I'll add it to the list. Don't expect it to get done too quickly. She just picked up a mid sized trailer load of landscaping rock. Heavy f@(%!~g landscape rock. It ranks right up there with plumbing. Gonna need something to lift the stone. Some of it is too big to move by hand. Some of them that can be moved by hand are nut busters. I've been getting in shape thanks to all the heavy lifting I've been doing lately. Soon I'm gonna look like Matt.

Good Morning CGs!

Brought rr#2 over to the library for story and project time. He enjoys that.

Tommy, I would help you move that rock. For some reason that's one of the manual labor jobs I don't mind. Shoveling rock and dirt doesn't bother me.

Also, TBone, how did the crops/trees/plants do after the overnight freeze the other day?

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Hey guys...been a busy day. Started early with meeting (I had to get donuts) Then kids been working steadily. Yesterday I decided to swap computers here at school. I have 5 out in my classroom, for drafting program. I got all my documents off the old one and in the new one, so i made the move. Since then , I've been trying to get all the other stuff working. I've spent most of my free time this morning trying to get my printers back up and running....success, finally.

Weather here is pretty nice, but a change is in order for tonight and the next several days.

Weird,I woke up to 22 degrees this morning. Something didn't seem quite right. There it is, the minus sign is missing fron the temperature !

Snow has 20 days to do some serious melting before I get the Corvette out and head for Sebring.

I am somewhat surprised nobody has made reference to "Chocolate Covered Nut Day". No sophomoric comments at all. Are we all growing up ? I hope not.

Everyone go out and make it a great Guru day.

It's moving heavy rock that is annoying. You know the kind. Your tongue comes out while lifting kinda rocks.

The freeze was minimal, thank the overseers. Looks like we should have clear sailing from here on out but with the wacky weather, you never know.

I was in the fish pond clearing the nozzles on one of the fountains. Yep, it is warm enough to go into the pond.

I'm waiting for a return call from ProCharger. They have the inspection report ready for the blower. I hope I'll be ready for the repair cost.

Ya just hired him today in fact.......doesn't start until March 9th though. The total bill to fix the Wilson trailer came in around $14,500. That will knock the profit out of the day..... We turned it into insurance.......$1K deduct.....now the insurance company will be..... watching us real close......
