So, heading down the 57 back to Orange county....driving along at about 60 mph.

A red Jetta in front of me...maybe 3 car links at best. traffic was semi heavy.

I noticed a bunch of crap on the roadway. The Jetta drives directly over a rounded off piece of drywall, all tires completely straddling the piece.

The Wind turbulence pulls the sheet up on it's end. I had no time to react at all....not even lift from the gas.

The nose of the C4 pierced that drywall smack dead center! The thing disintegrated from the impact and drywall pebbles and dust......it went every where.....

In the rear view mirror..just dust.

I guess if you were watching it would have looked pretty cool.

When I got home the hood, windshield, mirrors everything had white chalk marks on it. A few pebbles were still stuck in the turn signals and a few chunks were riding along by the wipers.

It all washed off without and visible damage.

There is no point to the thread...just thought I'd share.

You'd better get down there and look at the front of your radiator if you haven't done so already.

I guess it's like a karate chop. If you hit it hard enough, it doesn't hurt. That must have given you a hell of a rush and puckered your shorts!
Glad to hear you and the car came through with nothing more than this story. It could have just as easily been so much worse.

Wind can drive a straw into a piece of wood. You had to hit it just right. Chaulk one up for you.

yeah, did that....for a number of reasons. I am still flushing the radiator/coolant system. I am checking all angles of the cooling system right now....I just pulled it in the garage and started inspecting again for any signs of liquid. I thought I smelled coolant burning while on the road again today.

All is dry

actually from one of the chunks that hitch hiked home with me...it was 1/8" thick.

I was thinking that this stuff was cheap and thin.

And to those that wondered about the damage.

The PO (a really nice lady and Original owner).....Let's just say she was spatially challenged. The nose on this car has seen it's share of....parking structures?? Bumpers of other cars?? Bushes...curbs......you get get the idea.

So the Silver on the bumper cover A) has been repainted and B)re-damaged and is peeling. It's not bad, but you can definitely tell. I had to take the front license plate off and pound it straight with a rubber mallet when I bought the car.

I was thinking that if I had a nice paint job, the paint would have definitely been scratched.

That sounds more fun than the time I drove under an airborne 2x4x8 at 50mph.

Glad you and the car weren't hurt. I would just throw your underwear away and forget about washing them.
