My old tint shop moved out of their building and this new place moved in. I asked if he would do 5 percent and he said yes but he will not warranty it and will not right me a receipt for it. I guess because it's illegal. Anyway, I called another shop close by and they do 35% on front and they will do 20 on rears but they said nothing else(illegal) and they usually do houses though so it's not a big loss to them. All other places are pretty far away and I have no idea abotu them. This guy has redone the old shop though and I saw him working on another car and he seems to do pretty good. I just was skeptical about the no receipt/warranty because he will warranty all other tints except limo(5). Maybe hes trying to cover his ass if I go back and say he installed it?

I would find a new shop. I wouldn't use a place that does houses just because the back window on the vette can be tricky. As far as not giving a receipt, I figure he's just covering his ass due to potential lawsuits. I've never had a problem, but every state and tinter are different.

let me ask you a question - you constantly complain that the cops and people pick on you, why the hell are you giving them ammo?

Get a legal tink job and be happy with it, ok?

Sounds like good advice from the head guru.

The police have a tint on their cars that is as dark as limo tint.

Most of the tint shops around here will do any % they have and will give a receipt and warantee the work for twelve months.

That's because you are in FL and they don't have many laws.

Most other states have found that making tint a crime can raise funds...

I just don't feel that doing something that is blatently illegal is a good idea. Why attract unnecessary attention?

I mean, you don't go to the mall and smoke a joint in the food court, do you? No, I don't think so.

That's the best recommendation for living in Florida that I've seen in a long time! There are too many stupid laws.

But I agree, why give the authorities a reason to hassle you? When I see a police car, I don't burn rubber, or accelerate over the speed limit. Most, not all, but most cops don't want to bother you, but won't ignore you if you give them a reason to bother you.

I see a hi-jacking coming on...

However, I don't like states that pass laws simply to justify their legislative existance. It's creating that damnedable "Nanny Nation" and taking away free will. All in an effort to protect ourselves... from ourselves...

No receipt is one way of doing it, they don't want you coming back after a fix-it ticket and playing dumb and expecting a free re-tint.

Or maybe instead they could have you sign something releasing them of liability.

I think Bogus sees a hi-jacking coming on because he's the one doing the hijacking.

I dont see that as a bad thing. Just like everyone is saying, its to cover his own butt. I would not worry about a warrenty cause the tint is about the same thickness just darker. I have 5% on mine and I screwed it up pretty badly yet its still on there after a year.

Much easier if you pack it into a cigarette and leave some tobacco in there.

Try even smoking a rolled cigarette at the mall and see how long that lasts...

Last year, their was a "get together" for highschool students at a mcdonalds and there were cops supervising and kids were passing out cigars and ciggs and just looking at them you could easily tell they were 14,15, and 16 and the cops did not seem to care. They bitched about people speeding thru the parking lot and revving motors. That was enough to keep them busy but still...

In response to Bogus's rely, I still stand by what I said before, the neons were a big contribution to the pulling over situation. That was always commented on and they are rookies with nothing better to do than try to act macho.

dude... I will be blunt... you are sometimes as thick as a brick. What part of "attractive nuisance" don't you grasp? You were getting ragged on about the neons, who says they won't do the same thing with the tint? Seems like you want the attention... if that's the case, don't come crying to us when you get your first fix-it-ticket.

It's not parenting you. It's trying to share experiences.

I had dark tint on my last car. And I had a waiver from my Dr for it. But I STILL got pulled over three times JUST FOR THE DAMNED TINT.

Trust me... cops key off dark tint.

I never said I didn't trust anyone here. The parenting thing was JUST a joke and I deleted it shortly after I posted it because I figured it would be taken the wrong way.

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of note was it and how did the cops react to it when you showed it to them? Rude? Crumple it up or let you go on your way.

F*** the police. Do what you want and pay for the consequences as they come.

I drive dangerously, do burnouts in residential areas, I street race in front of my work, and *gasp* even drive with no front plate. I have an expensive radar detector and a sixth sense for locating cops.

Just be careful about when/where you break the laws if you're paying your own insurance or can't afford the tickets, because the cops are out patrolling for people having too much fun.

Cruising in the wrong part of town at the wrong time will get you pulled over on a "hunch" from a bored cop.

I wasn't ragging on your comment, just sharing the whys.

As for my "note." It was a state form, offical and such, signed by the dr and on file at motor vehicle. In short, the cops had no choice but to honour it.
