Keep us posted and I hope that all is well. Fortunately, "A" parts, whether original, NOS or repops are pretty easy to get in most cases. Are you familiar with the Ford Barn site? I see lots of pretty good deals there.
That car is just too sweet. I'm sure you're rightfully proud of it.

It is, without a doubt. I'm building a 50s vintage Mopar flattie for my Model A and working on it's like therapy when you've grown used to working on modern, high-tech performance cars such as our Vettes. It's a welcome break and lots of fun.
Hey, Livin, I copped a vintage Frankland quick-change unit for my car last week. I've also got some '40 front "bones" and proper front and rear springs now. Initial chassis mock-up will be starting this summer, before long I hope.

BTW, have you ever considered putting some vintage speed goodies on that "banger" while you're going through it? Just a thought. I just can't leave nothin' alone!

That's a little better condition than my Grandpa's. You have to hold the battery in place with your foot while driving to keep it from shorting on the frame.

I love where they put the gas tank on these things..

It is fun working on it , but I like to work on the Vette as well. Guess I haven't worked on it enough yet.
As for the A - looks can be deceiving Notorious. It has some vintage goodies on it. First I have a 40 front end and hydraulic brakes all the all around. The Front end is sitting on a posie 2" drop super slide spring-one of the best things I have bought! I have a 1950's drive-line overdrive which gives me 30% gear reduction. The tires are 1935 vintage 16" rather than the skinny 19".

As for the Frankland rear I still want one of those. Maybe this winter. I also have heard of the Ford barn.
When I put the motor back I am putting in a new distributor which has a centrifugal advance of up to 30 deg rather than the original which you control yourself.A 2 barrel downdraft holly carb is going on it as well and maybe a header. Also the motor is a 1932 which had better oil pressure and the ability to put in a fuel pump ( see block off plate below valve galley.)A little more stout cam , this combination seems to give it a nice touring effect. This car was originally restored by my dad and me when I was 13.
My next rod project which will most likely be an a is going to get a 51 flathead V8 that I just acquired! That one will have all the goodies!
Thanks everyone for the kind comments. Yes this car is as fun as the Vette believe it or not I will post up some bearing pics soon- if you have never seen babbot bearings its kind of neat
Oh and Centralcoaster nothing like getting a lap full of gas! Actually it works out pretty well and one of the first things you do is clean and seal that tank if you are going to use it! other wise

Yeah I was seeing that on horsepower tv awhile back.

So did you burn a chip for it?

Yes there are new 1 pc seals but I've heard of some problems with them. They have modern rear seals as well . But they require machining and I did not want to do that right now.The shop that does the motors is like 6 months backlog . The do make inserts for the bearings but that also requires a lot of machining . There is almost nothing you cannot do to these motors its all a matter of money. You can buy an alum. short block all set up as described for about 17K, all top of the line parts. In the tranny I put in all new parts updated to todays standards

just way too cool!

Did you balance the rotating mass? My experience with those older cars is that they about shook themselves apart.

The only chips they burned back then were cow chips, to stay warm!

BTW, what's that carb, Livin'? It looks like an old Holley one barrel like some of my old slant sixes had on them. I think Ford used them too on some of their 60s six-poppers.
