Got a 3 car, technically a 2.5 garage am looking to do a repaint and am thinking of doing a white up top a chair rail color and a gray bottom. Not sure on the color yet. Would also like to refinish the floor, but that will have to wait.

Need to do some more electrical drops and also want to redo the lights.

Any other suggestions.

Any other suggestions.

Well you've got so much stuff in there that I wouldn't really be able to see the new paint. Another shelf or two will totally cover all the way space, giving you better storage, and making you not have to paint. Just my two cents.

BTW did you get my PM?

Forget the paint. Fill in the spaces with Corvette posters and signs, decals etc. You can paint the floor with a gallon of grey floor paint. Lighting and drops sound good. Pick up a couple extra cases of ale.

You should move one of the vettes to my house for storage. That would free up valuable floor space for your other projects.

How about a built in workbench and some pegboard for your tools?
Is the garage heated?
I like the el cheapo paint on floor I have, holds up well to household type use - it's not industrial, but neither was the price.

Move some of the extra engine/trans stuff to the shop to make more room?

Some of the stuff on the shelves will be cleaned off and gone. And the next shelving system I use will be cut in half, so it will only be 36" tall. And the main reason for the paint is to clean up a few spots, and currently the color is more of a cream which does not reflect the light as much as I like.

I thought I had sent a response. I've been looking into making a cooler duct for the C5 kit. I'll have some time here after I get back from Sebring.

I've got plenty of banners and posters. Most of the poster I've got are ZR-1 collectibles and are not suitable for garage art unfortunately. Other things I can mount on a wall are a Phase 2 LT5 prototype Plenum, C5R dry sump pan from a Le Mans car and a C6R rear fender. I'll throw up some pictures of my misc banners later.

The big thing on the floor is I use the garage. Remove engines, etc, build up engines and whatever else. So the floor coating will need to take a lot of abuse. Hell you can see the two ZF's on the floor along with a LT5 that's torn down.

So where's the hidden cameras and the glory hole?

Seriously though with all that stuff, I'd put up more shelves.

The big question - How much is your budget?

I've been in shops that had U-CoatIt on the floor. It's stands up to brake fluid & engine hoist wheels. We converted the hoist wheels in the raceshop to poly to protect the floor. U-CoatIt in one color, for 24x24 costs $250. It's what I'm going to use in my next shop.

You already have the deep sink, which I think is a "must have". I assume you've got a compressor, got a solvent tank?

I want to get at least one steel work bench, 48x30 - $240 or a teardown bench, same size, w/drain & removable catch pan, one drawer - $390.

I'm looking at close to 750 sqft. So with the ucoat-it estimator it's around 700 bucks. SO basically 1.00 per sqft.

Got a compressor, got the deep sink. I would like a solvent tank but not a high priority right now. Although I have been seeing several shops closing up that are liquidating.

The 700's gotta be with the clearcoat, doesn't it? I got $250 for one color for 550+ sq. Maybe I'm wrong.

Yea, shops closing, auctions, that's how I got my Atlas geardrive lathe for $300.

My solvent tank is one of those $100 ones, maybe 3ft by 2ft. Cheap but it's been in the shop for 15 years and still works.

No workbench? I'd clear the middle shelves out and use those, or get shorter shelves. Workbench and tools always go up front so it's not behind one car when you're working on the other.

No work goes on in the stall on the right. The left side is 24 ft deep, so plenty of room to walk around when a car is in there.

One of the shelves that is going in will be a work bench top. It will be in the back corner by the tool box.

2 post are better for doing work on the car. And don't have the ceiling room.

I'd prioritize the two bays. The right bay is narrower, so all the cleaning and general service stuff should be over there. A nice flat table on wheels with shelves underneath would help to store most of this stuff and make good use of the space between the two bays.

The left bay for major maint. The shelving unit is too shallow for your needs. Need some of that heavy duty gorilla rack that has a 30"+ depth to handle the big parts and inventory. Gonna need a good steel top work bench that can take some weight and doubles as a welding table. I've noticed that if you can minimize the amount of wall coverings be it posters or stuff will help keep the shop looking more open and reflects light better. I try to keep most of the items around the walls at 48-50" in height. Makes for more work tops and helps to keep the shop neater.

Lots of lights. Another overhead row toward the roll up doors will help illuminate when the doors are down.

And build a shed to store all that stuff you seldom use. Just clutters up an otherwise nice garage......
