IIRC, ZFDoc makes an LS adaptor plate. He is THE man when it comes to the ZF6.

Also, I talked to Chris Petris about this... and the CCM is not friendly with the LSx engine controller, you can kiss ABS and ASR goodbye. I did some digging on this when I had my 1992 coupe and came to the conclusion that you really want to start with a 1989, no chassis controller.

With that said, gauge display becomes an issue, so you will need a gauge package. Which, in theory, will be better anyway!

There are other hot rod shops that make adaptors and such to fit and LSx into just about any car.

Since you are in NC, smog will NOT be an issue, period.

Finally, a 408 in a C4 vert... you will need to reinforce that chassis. There is a reason that GM didn't offer the ZR1 as a vert...

The next big trick is the wiring. A good source is eficonnection.com. They have wiring, PCMs, and other things that go bump in the night.

But to answer the question, this can be done! I know it can be done. I just haven't done it.

Good afternoon - thanks for the well wishes for Arron. I've not heard from him yet, except early this morning and nothing since. Kinda has me bothered. He was thinking he'd go home today. I'd kinda like an update.
Still warm here, misting here and there, some rain due next couple days. My doc office called and while I got a rapid covid test (neg) I asked for the "send off" kind . They called today and there was an error of some sort so I was offered a retest without having to wait to be seen by a doctor since they already have other details. guess I'll swing by there after work then I can see Arron maybe since hospital he's in is right down the road from my urgent care place.
I'm sitting at work today, I have an office to myself and the ability to stay away from folks just in case.

hey guys, Just read your post on FB, Letty, and my first thought was appendicitis...guess I was right. Hoping he recovers quickly.

Up and around and over to the house to install crown molding around the cabinets. Took most of the day, Da*n unlevel ceiling caused big issues. After that I added the drawers in the pantry cabinet. Now have to wait for lazy-susan kits to come, so those can be installed and my lumber truck for some maple to build the two doors and valance panel above the sink. Lazy susans and lumber all supposed to be here tomorrow.

Good evening y’all. Been a hectic day finally have myself hole and fed. Arron hadn’t felt good last couple days he’s been hurting lower right side and had fever a couple nights. He got up this morning and called into work and took himself to ER. Had appendicitis. I think he got there around 1, tests and scans then taken for surgery around 2, in a room by 4ish. They got the show on the road quickly , surgery and done. Dog having fits she can’t find him she’s stuck with me for a day or two.
Warm here still but cold and more storms coming. We don’t need em we’ve had enough.

Good Afternoon CGs!

Sorry to hear about Sue's mom, Tommy.

I posted the other day about the Accord having some nasty / musty smell. I tried some evaporator / vent cleaner and it didn't fix it. Changed the (relatively new) cabin air filter today and I think that's it. I think it got wet and maybe had some mold growth I couldn't see. I forgot the KISS principle and didn't start with the most obvious item.

Kids got spoiled for Xmas, as usual. Got RR#1 a record player and spent a few months prior to Xmas searching for a vintage record collection. She got about 25 old Broadway / musical albums. She was in 7th heaven. RR#2 got his first cell phone so he's pretty stoked, too.

Hope everyone had a great holiday!

Hey guys, up earlyand off to church...then we decided to run over to the 'city' and pick up a few groceries. Back home now and I'm thinking a nap is in order this afternoon.

The wind has kicked up and the dirt is flying, but, the temps are in the low 70s.

Our decorations will stay up for a few more days.

Christmas Lite went well. Not to many people. Scheduled 12:00 to 03:00 pm. Clean up was done by 04:30. I announced the end of the Christmas parties starting for me at age 70. 3 more years and someone else will have to pick up the ball. (Or not) I figure at 70 I will have had enough of setting up and tearing down. Maybe some Christmas Lite Lites would be OK. Like 6-10 people. The big parties of 60 plus people are over. Though that's because many of them have died. Sues mom is not doing well. I think she is gradually slipping away from us. She fell recently cutting her head. She had some bleeding on the brain that they are monoitoring, she can't get out of bed. They have to check her hip for a fracture. The last hospital she was in used to be one of the premier hospitals in the area. Sadly that is no longet the case. Some of the best local hosptals are actually run by the county and staffed by University of Miami doctors and interns. I do all I can to stay out of the grasp of the medical establishment but unfortunately some things cannot be helped. I like the technology and diagnostic aspect of modern medicine. The pharmaceutical aspect not so much. Have a great day everyone whether you want one or not.

I will post up the solution once I find it and specifics of my build once it gets going. Right now the 6.0 block is at my machine shop and will return March 3rd assuming I can figure this clutch issue out in a reasonable amount of time.

It makes me happy you all had a nice Christmas! We did too. Daughter and BF were here a couple days then this morning went to his folks house.
My son had a better Christmas than the last couple as his health was better.
Mrs. Bob was stressed about everything, but it all went well, and she’s resting well.
As for me, my work schedule has me messed up and I slept the day away. Hopefully I’ll sleep tonight too and get straightened out.
Merry Christmas to all of you.

Having no experience with this I can only regurgitate info from other threads. Seems the zf6 is not a popular trans to use with the LS swap. If you find any good info please post it up!

Merry Christmas to you all, looks like everyone celebrated well. Been running since my feet hit the floor, cooked some more, went to nursing home majority of the day then to Arrons aunt then to my aunt and just now getting home.
Was 76 today and I loved it. I’m hiding out tomorrow to rest . Mike I’m glad you’re in the spirit, I’m bout to be in a different holiday spirit. Got a half gallon of my whiskey given to me . In 2016 our house was also our Christmas that year.

HO HO HO..... merry Christmas to one and all....we for the first time in recorded history had Christmas yesterday due to the grandparents sharing program the Biden must have thought of..... now that we have a grandchild we have to share with other people who claim to be the grandparents also.....

It was an enjoyable day with family food and lots of laughs and at the center of it was the Lord's presence....

wishing you all the best today and in the coming year...

Hey Matt,

Merry Christmas. I read through all of those threads already except the one from this site (which I will do now), although I appreciate you posting them. I posted on facebook and was sent this link:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions ... vVNNkkca069JnKB3rEC8IaLx4

Great thread. I didn't get a ton out of it because it specifically talks about early 4 speeds and I am not sure how they differ from the ZF6, but what I did come to the conclusion on was that any bellhousing from a Early SBC can bolt to an LS with 5 bolts. And if I am understanding correctly the Flywheel is tucked towards the block .4"; so you can use a spacer to put the flywheel back into alignment or buy a custom flywheel (haven't been able to find one yet) that is .4 thicker or spaced correctly. The other potential issue is that the ZF6 uses a smaller 153 tooth flywheel that is dual mass while the LS uses a regular 168 tooth flywheel. I didn't reach out to ZF Doc because I really want to try and avoid the $2100 expense of the shaft and separator plate . But of course I do recognize that there have been much smarter guys than myself working on this swap and all of them pretty much seemed to go with the Quicktime bellhousing, and Spec Clutch Setup.

DG

Good Morning CGs!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Mike, glad to see you back and in the holiday spirit. You should have treated the wife to a gift last night....happy wife, happy life

We did open quite a few presents last night. It's our family tradition that we do a traditional Polish dinner on Christmas Eve and then open presents with/from my in-laws. Today the kids will get their gifts from us. They already got too many, of course. A few thoughtful ones - which are the best ones.

Hope everyone has a great day surrounded by family!

Merry Christmas.

Thank the lord and savior for another covid free year for us.
I hope every one has a wonder Christmas.

We moved into this new house last December. That was our Christmas present last year.

This year we got tree and it felt good to decorate. We both are in a Christmas mood this year. The Mrs wanted to open a present last night but I said no we have to wait. First year in a long while we were able to get some gifts for each other which felt really good.

Super warm here this year. Temp is 63 so no white Christmas this year but that is ok.

Again Merry Christmas to all.

Out of my league, Dan. Have you reached out to ZF Doc, I believe he has experience in that area.

Nice church service, then the gang here to eat. Good to have all of them together....would have been even better if we would have had the whole group, but that wouldn't work too well in the house only nine here and it was pretty full...can't imagine if we'd have 12 more....

I hope, all of you, have a great Christmas Day. We will be off pretty early to Rosie's dads place for a gathering of her side tomorrow.

THE GOTHS AND VANDALS HAVE DEPARTED, LEAVING A TRAIL OF TORN WRAPPING PAPER AND BOWS BEHIND THEM.

UNFORTUNATELY WHAT THEY DIDN'T EAT THEY CARRIED HOME WITH THEM. I CAN SURVIVE HOWEVER, BABY DAUGHTER LEFT ME SOME RUM CAKE AND THE WARRIOR PRINCESS HALF A BUTTERMILK PIE :-)

IT WAS A GREAT GET TOGETHER. YOGI THE GREAT WAS THE STAR OF THE SHOW; HE CAN STAND UP BY HIMSELF AND JUST ABOUT READY TO WALK. MOMMY WILL HAVE HER HANDS FULL THEN. HE IS A CONTENTED BABY, DOESN'T FUSS UNLESS HUNGARY OR THWARTED. DEFINITELY ONE OF US.

MAY YOU ALL HAVE AS MERRY A CHRISTMAS AS I.

Good evening y’all. Warm here today, misted this morning and sun came out later but windy.
Bob Little Rock 2.5 hours from me, we flea market there some. I do hope you get your car back. Recent events here have suppressed my holiday spirit, but I try to make the most of things. I finally put up a small tree and did have nights outside. The tornado turned my shopping weekend upside down but managed to get out and get stuff for people. Bought a dinner or two, coffee for 50 volunteers , and helped my aunt and cousin out with things since they’ve been without power till yesterday. Made us a small Christmas dinner and leftover (7/8 of it) will go to my aunts tomorrow, I’ll go to nursing home first , then his aunts then mine then home. Hope you all wake up to a wonderful Christmas

Good Afternoon CGs!

Upper 40s here and no snow. Not exactly a white Christmas.

Taught two classes last night. Master instructor is pretty excited about me getting involved and it helps take some of the stress off of him. I'm thoroughly enjoying myself, too, so it's mutually beneficial. I like helping the kids.

Christmas Eve dinner later at the outlaws along with some presents.

Hope everyone has a great Christmas Eve!

Merry Christmas to all that celebrate. Never have been much into the commercial Christmas slant. More about friends, family and the hope that Christmas brings. Joy to the world.

Hey guys,

Happy Holidays! About a month ago, after I bought my Polo 95 Convertible with a ZF6 I hinted that I had a LQ9 from another project I was tossing over the idea of installing. Well, the idea became a project about two days ago. I got a great black friday deal on a summit pro ls forged 408 rotating assembly. I brought the engine back over to my machine shop to have the bottom end rebuilt and he asked me for the clutch and pressure plate. I plan to spin this thing to 7500, and he would like to balance it all together to make sure there are no balance issues. The problem is I have only been able to do a few hours of research on the trans side of the project and I need to come up with a clutch assembly ASAP. I see some guys on CF using the quicktime bellhousing, and other guys using a ZR1 input shaft and mounting plate with a stock bellhousing. I do not want to pull the car apart just yet as I do drive it with the LT1 and I am going to be borrowing space to do the swap. I need some tech support on what direction to head in and what clutch parts to order. After a few hours of reading, I still haven't been able to find a definitive reason why I can't just bolt the ZF6 to the LQ9 block and use a Flywheel spacer to put everything back into alignment? I would appreciate it if you guys could open a discussion about things that work, possibilities, or potential people I can contact that have a good understanding of the ZF6. I see now more than ever these transmissions are fading away and there is very limited info on them.

Merry Christmas!

DG

Morning guys... Mid 40s already, that's 'normal' temps for this time of year, so we're going to soar well above that today, predicting low to mid 70s.

No work scheduled for today, just an oil change in GS #2s car, so he'll be good to go when he heads back to K=State next month.

Later on, we have Christmas eve church service then #2 and her brood will be here (includes SIL, GSs 1-3, GS #1s Wife and GS #2s GF).

I guess I have a different outlook on Christmas... I believe in in the hope that comes from it. I meet and work with people who are GOOD people and believe that Jesus will eventually take control. If we maintain our direction we will end up on the right side.

I wish, all my friends here, a wonderous, happy, joyous Christmas and a New Year filled with good health and all the great things life offers.

Hi guys.
It’s been a while since I stopped by. Nothing really happening other than a crummy work schedule and the usual load of daily negative little junk. None of it amounts to anything but it’s just junk.
We did get a new union contract voted in. That’s in a shop that’s closing in a reported two years. I’ll be out before then, but the way it’s written shows they don’t anticipate being there in 2023 at all.

On a more fun item. In 2013 I lost my job and felt I needed to do what was best to cover health in$urance, and sold my 88 coupe. A couple weeks ago I let curiosity get the best of me and began searching for the car.
I found it.
The car is currently in Little Rock, Arkansas and after speaking to the owner is available to me. Initially, I was going to go get it. But after a very distracted 24 hours I had to call the man back and decline. Again, that feeling of doing what’s best for the family.
I’ll live.
You might be wondering why I’ve not said anything regarding Christmas.
I guess it’s celebration has changed to the point where I just don’t like it much anymore. But here’s what I do like, I like that the hope granted to us each and every day through Jesus Christ gives me the ability to face the junk thrown at me every day. His peace given to me allows me to fall asleep without fear of the coming day. And, the the ability given to me to continue caring about friends and strangers alike is still with me.
Have a wonderful Christmas my friends, and may the coming new year be filled with blessings for you and your families.
I’ll let you know if I end up going to Little Rock.
