For a noob on the track I would not recommend using track tires. Track tires will hold their line and hit the edge and then let go with no warning. If you have never used sticky tires like that, stick to street tires, which will howl and give you some kind of warning.

They don't have to be extremely expensive. But yes, they are more expensive than a regular rotor. But then again, when I spend 6k in brakes, I expect them to last up to my abuse.

Slotted rotors are very nice, but as Bogus said, the good ones are $$$ like powerslot.

J55's with good rotors, HPS pads, SS lines, and good fluid (I like superblue) = passenger ejection system

I'm going to go ahead and disagree with you right there. There is nothing wrong with drilled rotors, as long as they are properly made. I use them on my ZR-1 front and rear and abuse the hell out of the system at the track. Rotors have been on the car for 5 years averaging about two track days a year at minimum. Never has one cracked. Been through 2 sets of pads, but no rotors.

Crock of shit. What is the difference between rust on a 96 LT1/4 and a 97 LS1.

The C5 and C6 is the money maker on the lifts for exhaust swaps. The truth is they are easier. And also consider they are doing header swaps as well. The trick on the header swaps is they keep the cats and then sell them to the scrap guys and make even more money.

I saw the operation in action last year and laughed my ass off. They use latino labor for the work, paying minimum wage and then make money on the system and then money off your cats.

When compressing the piston(s) back into the caliper, make sure you have the bleed screw open. You do not want to push the crap back through the system.

Suck the current garbage out of the reservoir and fill with fresh for your flush.

Tech 1 or Tech 2 is used for priming the ABS pump and cleaning out the fluid of the ABS.

Oh, and the TA stuff is different. You can use the C5 caliper in the F-body bracket, but the bracket only pushes the caliper out far enough for a 12" rotor from my memory.

Sorry, the AuoX does suck. Don't even get me started on drag racing. All of two minutes on a long course and then you sit and wait for an hour for your next run.

Track days, HPDE, and actually racing SCCA or NASA is where it's at. You spend more time preparing, but the amount of track time you get is greater. But the risk is also higher.

Stock LT4 springs are good to .525 lift.

Now you might consider upgrading depending upon your driving style. I've gone with the CC 26918 beehive set up it the past with good results in some motors.

I have bought several things from the PL.

All of my stuff has come in the original boxes. I will say in shipping of water pump or opti, the water pump box is freaking huge. I would normally downsize it as well, and the box also isn't the sturdiest from GM.

On the opti, the box it comes in is larger as well. If you don't repackage it, it can get jarred around and possibly damaged.

2. Installed the new tire on the rim, but the tire wouldn't pop (didn't put lube around the bead). The air hose was on the new tire for almost three minutes. The tire changer ran and hide behind the balancer. It finally poped with no ill effects.

I go to a specialty tire shop. Every time I'm there, the is a F-car, Lambo, Corvette, Porsche there. He does things right. I take my race tires to him and street tires. Now when he mounted the BFG KD's, he had the same issue, they would not pop onto the seal. He threw it behind a concrete wall and inflated it some more to finally get it. No amount of lube was helping.

Jim, most of those are not codes. They are engine vitals.

-16 is the current coolant temp in Celsius. One of them is RPM/100. They are all listed in the FSM.

The only bad thing about a 4 post lift is you are screwed when working on suspension pieces. For that reason I'd choose a 2 post lift.

I've used some four post lifts and would not have one. I never completely feel comfortable under one.

Glen, they are a direct fit, no issues, no nothing. I've used them when building LT1/4 cars as well as LS1/2/6. No issues.

I've even recommended them here in the past and somebody scoffed at me recommending them because of their cost. I can match SD price on them as well.

I'd venture to guess Big griz doesn't have the HP+. I've seen many people confuse the HP+ and HPS pads.

HP+ are more track duty pad, they need heat in them to function correctly, they will squeel some (usually until they are warm) and the dust they throw off is flat out awful, unless it's a track car.

HPS, is a very friendly street compound with a good bite.

It's not your typical lockout. It's called a crash through.

You should not ever be speed shifting into 6th or skipping gears and going from 3rd to 6th or 4th to 6th. The factory 95-96 shifter had a tighter spring, and it's rated at 15lbs of force to go into reverse.

Basically you are retarded if you hit reverse when driving.
