Hey guys,

I got home from a long day. Golf today, I didn't hit the ball very well, but as a team we were in first place after the morning session. Got home, went to church and then we had the church bazaar. I bought a "Mystery Package" which ended up being a night at a ritzy hotel, brunch, tickets to a show and a nice bottle of wine. So I did OK. Tomorrow, I'm resting....

Haven't lost any yet, but had one (USMC) get hit hard and now is disabled.

You know when I watched Leno and his 'street walking' segments, I used to think "Nobody is that stupid", but I've grown to believe that I was wrong.

I've always been a little bit of a history buff, so maybe I'm an exception, but there are some people who don't even know basic facts. Every year when 12/7 rolls around, I ask people "do you know what today is?". You'd be amazed how many people in their 20's and 30's can't even tell me! Sad, really.

Yea, my dad was a WWII vet. But as a kid I can't remember him talking at all about the war. If you asked him about it he'd say something like "...that's ancient history" or ...Gee, I don't remember". It wasn't until he was in his 70's that we got to hear some of the stories. He even wrote of one event and submitted it to the Air Corp reunion groups newsletter and it was published (I now have a hardcopy). The war put a huge mark on his personality. He's gone now and any other stories he has are gone forever.

I would agree 100% Matt. Just like the battle of Gettysburg and Pearl Harbor, time has a way of tempering our minds. As time goes on, the significance of these points in history become more and more softened.

A moment of prayer for those who have given of themselves.

Well, I missed yesterday entirely. My planning time was consumed with helping a middle school teacher with some projects he is trying to do with his students. Then after school I drove and hour and a half to watch my grandson play football, by the time I got home, I was dead tired. Tonight I head southwest (about and hour and a half), to a friends house and to play in a golf tourney tomorrow. Then we will hustle back and Saturday evening we are having a Bazaar at church to raise money for the religious education classes, and I help with the auction, so i have a busy day up. Hopefully Sunday I can relax a bit, as next week is going to be a busy one as well.

Homecoming week is a b!tch, I am a freshman class sponsor and have to help with the float construction. And we have a spirit week to go along with homecoming and that is a major distraction to actually "teaching". Oh well, such is life.

quick note here....Our Zoo has a yearly membership available and then they have a reciprocal agreement with other zoos so you can go to them free as well. We joined our local zoo, then used the pass at the zoo in Omaha, NE. What the membership cost was less than what it would have cost to get into the Omaha Zoo, so it was more than worth it.

OK, plan time, so I am planning to post here! Had a good weekend, got to drive the Vette about 500 miles...so sweet. Other than that had a nice get together with my brothers and sister Saturday, got to ride one of the brothers H-Ds and give my grandsons rides on it. Ate lots of good food, and drank a few brewskies. Short week and playing in a golf tourney Saturday, so life is good.

168 contract days 'til retirement!

Well, if you think about it, the C4's have gotten so cheap anyone can buy one, and that said, younger people are buying them, asking the questions, and then ignoring the answer unless it is what they want to hear.

Ask me how I know.... and remember, I teach high school kids!

Hey guys, it's my plan time again. Looks like this will be my time to get on. Late yesterday I found out about a good friends mother passing away and the funeral was this morning, so I took a couple hours off to attend. This afternoon (later) my daughter and I will drive an hour to the oldest son's (grandson) first middle school football game. Sure hope he does well.

The long weekend proves to be busy as well. Going to my little brothers place where he is hosting a family get-together. Since both dad and mom have passed we (my brothers and sister) just don't find any reason to get together, so this is it. Also the wife,s father is celebrating his 80th this weekend so we'll hit that as well...thank goodness they are close to my brothers.

Well, ribs sound good Bill, eat some for me. Matt, I can't say I know about working the second shift, but I do hope that you adjust. Road Atlanta? Hopefully a year from now I can take some time and do some of these types of things.

have a good rest of the day!

Afternoon guys, at least I'm getting here on the right day.... I hope everyone gets to feeling better. I'm on my planning period right now, so I have a couple of minutes. No real plans for the day...I have a meeting this evening, but that's about it. Tomorrow my oldest grandson has his first football game, so we will travel about an hour away to go watch him play. He's the biggest kid in his class 12 years old and 5'10" and 185lbs. Not sure where his size came from, because I'm not much bigger than that right now (6'2" 210). He looks like a giant out there towering over his classmates. Anyway the hectic fall is about to begin. Middle grandson (3rd grade and full contact football)has his first game on the 12th. The 11th we have homecoming already and I run the clock for all varsity games. Hopefully I'll have time to check in daily.

David, I think that you have made a good decision. Missouri seems to be a nice place to live. The mid-west has lots to offer. Maybe we'll be able to stop by some time when we go through and meet you.

Sorry guys, I never made it here yesterday. Just a normal day at school, but had a dental appointment in the afternoon.

Never been on a 4 wheeler, I prefer to live a little longer. Not that I think 4 wheelers are dangerous, I just don't trust myself on one (I'm afraid I'd go a little crazy).

Afternoon guys, my day started earlier than normal. Had to get up and go early to school (45 minutes early) to get my Flu shot. The school pays for them, for staff, the funny thing is, my wife was the RN giving them. Other than that it's been a pretty normal day. I get to pick up the youngest grandson today after school, then home to watch him and the middle grandson until Grandma gets home. This evening we have the second night of our men's league golf tourney. Not sure where I sit after last weeks round, but if I can improve a little I might have a chance at finishing in the money.

Matt, hope you get over the crud. 4-wheeling sounds like a good time. I went out and bought a neti yesterday and have used it twice....hoping it will do some good for me. Give Tommy a break he's not that old....he's just got lots of miles

Had the new TPS installed yesterday and got them reprogrammed. Then I spent about 5 hours cleaning the mid-daughters van. She doesn't keep/have the time to, it clean very well. So I washed, clayed, and buffed it for her. It looked really good..on the outside. I told her she'd have to clean the inside.

Today, I'll vacuum the Vette and put it back up on the lift. Looks like another beautiful day in SW Kansas...highs projected to be in the low 70's...maybe a shower or two.

I had pretty good luck with the Falkens I had on the 94. I wanted run flats on the 01 so when I started looking I could but the run flat Michilens for less than the Kumhos, so I went with Michilens.

I'm taking the Vette to have new Tire Pressure Sensors installed. I have one that just quit...probably batteries they are 8 years old. Bought some new ones but need to have them installed.

The cruise sounds like a nice time, Tommy.

Matt, that looks like what I need. I have been buying "simply saline" Which is a saline solution to spray in the sinuses, but with this I can really wash them out the way I'd like.

Where did you get yours?

A typical day at school. 175 days left! First week and we've already had a fire drill and an intruder drill.

Tommy sounds like the wife is a fighter, she'd have to be after all it appears she's been through.

Unseasonably cool for the next few days...I can take that.

It's a "normal" day here at school, nothing special. Can't imagine that you won't like Columbia, seems like a nice community. Brad, that's scary when that happens. Glad it wasn't you! Tommy. I'm glad that I don't have to deal with that kind of cr@p. It's usually pretty easy for us to walk right up and get ours stuff done....but then again we live in a small community and it's not unusual. Matt, you're going to have everything you need before long.

OMG, you didn't blank it out so we couldn't see your plate!!!!! Aren't you afraid someone is going to steal your identity? never could understand that anyway.

That's really nice looking Tommy. I'm going to get a new one for the 01 when they come due....I think I order it next month.

Sorry guys, it's late-thirty. I've been busier than a one-legged guy at a butt kicking contest. Typical school day, but I have been busy since. A neighbor brought a boat seat over for me to fix...the plywood base has fallen apart, so started on that. My middle grandson (3rd grade) had football practice tonight, were talking full pads and contact. Got him home and had to feed him...just got him in bed. They live in the next town over (25 miles), but my daughter works here and brings the boys over each day to go to school here rather than the big town. Now with middle grandson in football he'll spend these nights with us.

I'm pooped hopefully I'll see you guys in the morning.

I tried to get on earlier, but it wasn't up...Oh well, it's back to the grind today. 176 more days yah-whoooooo. Golf tonight, it's men's night, but a twist. Our Men's association sponsors it's big tournament over Labor Day, so in prep for the tourney, we have a little tournament on men's night the previous two weeks. So tonight we play for a position and then next week we play to see where we finish. I'll donate my money, like I normally do as I never win.

It's hot and windy today, but a front is supposed to move through tomorrow and cool things down.

I have some of my tools hanging and some in tool boxes. This is in my woodworking shop. It's handy to have them at your fingertips, and to be able to "see" if something is missing.

I was bushed after my day of golf yesterday. Today I have a couple of things lined up. I little detailing/paint correction on a one of our friends pickup. And then later on I need to go work on a computer. Other than that I have an easy day...just trying to get psyched up about the first full week of teaching...

I assume you've run malware/apyware/virus scans. I had a similar problem and found there was malware in the system. IDK....just a thought.

I'm at school already, checking my email before the kids start showing up....

Well, my class sizes are very manageable. But remember I am in a very small school. Lets do the countdown together! :thumbright:

Afternoon, I had kids for the first day today....all day. It wasn't too bad, the day went by pretty fast. I'm down to 178 (school) days before I can retire. It has been really decent temperature wise the last several days lower to upper 80's. It's been really comfortable, we'll probably pay for it down the road......

We have 4 big dairies (2000+ head in each one) within a 40 mile radius of us, but no service like you guys are talking about. That would be great. We also have 5 feed yards (50,000 head/) within a 20 mile radius, at least we get the smell. I'd almost bet that our beef is cheaper than most places, but then again we have the smell......

Things like that are why I can't even think of watching StarTrek.

I'm already at school, started doing some things that I need to get done. I have a meeting with the principal sometime this morning. Other than that I have the time to get everything ready for the students arrival tomorrow morning. I need to rewrite some tests...to follow compliance with our directives from the super.
