Greetings! Gonna go to a friend's big outdoor party this afternoon - lots of good food and live music, etc. I'm going to drag my keyboard along to jam a little. Looks like a beautiful day for a change, after 3 days of gloom and rain.

Geeze, Tommy, I need to learn some new dance moves That video is pretty funny. If you go to the website it explains everything. Pretty cool.

Now, onto my rant:

As many of you know, I had a flight to NY yesterday afternoon. So I show up a couple hours early for my flight like any good traveler should (checked beforehand, all was on time). Thought I'd plug my laptop in and do a little surfing waiting for the plane. Can you believe they charge $6.99 at the airport to use the internet? I was pissed. I figured I'd go have a beer. So after my $8.91 tallboy of Sam Adams, I figured I'd kill a little time and drink at the bar. That's when the first text message came in on my phone telling me the flight was delayed. Ok, another beer. So now I'm down $20...the 6.99 internet wasn't sounding too bad at this point....ah well. More text messages. More delays. So I'm sitting around making friends with all the other guys on my flight who are also delayed for 4 or 5 more hours. Yeah. Great. More delays. Finally I was so irritated I didn't want to fly anymore and I canceled my ticket after like 7 hours of waiting. Called wifey and she picked me up. It's just funny after all my problems with the airline, I told the guy I want to cancel my ticket and he goes "ok, no problem. your ticket price will be put back on your credit card". Took 30 seconds. Wow. Gotta love airlines. So I'm still in Chicago. NY will have to wait.

Rant over.

Matthew

PS - Chris, those airsoft guns still hurt when you get shot with them, they are like plastic bbs. It'll break the skin and leave a little welt. Not pleasant.

Good day Gurus!

Yes, excellent choice, Matt. Stuff happens for a reason. Plus the refund almost covers your bar tab and the Internet charges.

Tommy, you just NOW figured out your "on-call" status? Really?

Life is a cruel reminder sometimes...

Forgot to mention that I got to take Ruby for a spin yesterday. Just to pick up one of my kiddos at daycare. But she started right up and ran great. Although I have to say it really doesn't seem to have much better giddyup than my Lincoln. HP & torque numbers are not too different. Not sure on weight. A manual gearbox in the Lincoln would be insanely cool. They did have one for the six cylinder, but not the V8.

I sat in a new Mustang GT yesterday while I was getting a free oil change on the Lincoln. The interior was really nice. The gearbox was buttah. I didn't bother to look at the sticker. Don't wanna know.

Good morning, Gurus!

It looks to a beautiful day here, however it's is strangely muggy. This is a desert, we don't get humidity.

Matthew - that's too funny that you ended cashing in your plane ticket - after all the back and forth you've had with them!

I have a sorority meeting this afternoon, and that's about it. Should be nice!

Chris - think about this for a minute... how much money would 100hp cost vs how much a new car would cost?

The Lincoln is about 600 lbs heavier.

Also, the C4 chassis is woefully underpowered. A good friend in FL thought his old Olds Cutlass was a better handling car than the Vette and faster, but then he drove it and realized it did all his Olds did, and more, without ANY drama.

I heard an exhaust leak on the way out on a Vette date night with the wife. We went for a long drive through the nicer areas of the city, went to dinner, and back home. Drove this afternoon as well.

I started hearing the exhaust leak today and it's gotten much worse.

I'll check all the bolts tomorrow, and hopefully it's just a loose fastener and not a burned through gasket.

Spent the day cleaning out tool chests and dressing screwdivers, drills etc.

Now I'm considering putting a selection of common tools on a wall mounted peg-board. Anyone have any thoughts, I'm fed up darting all over the garage to find the right tool in the right chest. Thought if they were hanging, it'd be easier!

I have some of my tools hanging and some in tool boxes. This is in my woodworking shop. It's handy to have them at your fingertips, and to be able to "see" if something is missing.

Always set up your shop the way it works for you. My next shop won't have a peg board. The one I have now is just full of junk.

We had a pegboard at the raceshop, it was probably done right with screwdrivers, some wrenches, measuring stuff, masking/electrical tapes etc. It was nice when you had something on the bench in front of it. But, it didn't do any good when you were on the other side of a car or in the next bay, you still had to walk around cars to get to the board and the walk back to where you were working.

What works for me is a smaller roller box with the most used tools in it. You can roll it to where you are working and the top makes a great workbench that's right beside you.

Yep, see your point Bill.

I only have a single car + 1 bike sized garage and I have a carry tray for the usual tools, but because of the limited garage space I've got two chests and numerous box in different corners.

I'm gonna have to do what you say and think what'll work best.

@Teebee, your right. Seeing what is missing would be nice, I couldn't find a few things whilst sorting out, perhaps they've gone down the road in an engine bay. Mind some of my mates are a bit suspect when it comes to eyeing up tools (no Matthew wrenchy type tools!)

Numerious tool boxes are a pain but, sometimes necessary. I have a roller cabinet in the race trailer and a larger top box in the shop, so double the basic tools.

I don't have any free space in the garage either. One thing I realy don't like is having the top box on the workbench since my workbench space is limited and there's always parts sitting in front of the topbox which makes getting the drawers open a pain. I plan on getting another roller and getting rid of the topboxes.

I have a small toolbox, built in bench, and pegboard as well as cabinets and boxes to hold tools. I'm looking for a large rollaway chest now to fill with crap. I do like the pegboard, though.

Just my opinion, I have a 5 drawer Sears roller that I bought on sale for $100 that I pull in and out of the race trailer. For the money, it's been perfect. I didn't need the ballbearing drawers, etc. This one's held up to the abuse for 10 years and works fine. They're about $140 now but you can catch then on sale or, even better, find one with a dent at the Sears outlet. Look under"Homeowner Rollaways" at Sears.com
I don't see any reason to spend big bucks for the heavier, ballbearing drawers, etc. unless you're a mechanic using them everyday.
