'Being a female' has absolutely nothing to do with it - it's all about interest and experience. There are plenty of males that don't have a clue about cars - it's not a genetic trait.

We're all here to have fun, learn and share!

Sorry, forgot that different counties have different requirements. In allegheny county a classic plate does not require an emissions test no matter how many miles you put on it. However, we do have to have a visual test, even if most mechanics would not know what our engines should look like and what emissions are required.

Most would not bother to check.

Out of curiosity, how much does alldata charge? Alas, that Haynes isn't going to be of much help to you...

PM me your email address and I'll get the info off to you. The factory service manual can be ordered from Helm directly for $135. However, you can find them used on eBay for 1/2 to 2/3 that amount. Make sure you get both books as it's a two book set. Also, make sure you get the ones with the red covers.

http://www.helminc.com/

This place has them used from $85 up and is where I got my set from:

vetteblonde - you need the FSM. If not for your own edification, but for anyone who decides to work on it.

www.helminc.com or www.ebay.com

You can also check our For Sale section... an old copy may pop up from time to time.

Believe me, no apology necessary. The only one confused around here is me. The thing is, there is no listing for that particular code in the 1996 factory service manual (which BTW, you should have around regardless if you're going to do the repairs or not). So I'm not sure what to tell you. There's a P1371 DI in the FSM, the section on which I'd be happy to scan and email you if you think it would help...

Here's what I can offer.

We are just SW of Philadelphia, not far from Interstates 476 and 95. If your coming though the area and suffer a break down or emergency I can help.

If you've been in our garage section and seen my garage you'd know I have a fair amount of tools and the all important lift. If someone had a project that wouldn't tie up my garage too long let's schedule it and get it done.

Can't offer overnight accomodations we have a full house but there are nice accomodations very close by.

Anytime you are in the area and/or passing through and want to take a break I can usually get a few other Vette people together to out to socialize and eat.

Now all this is well and good but what are you going to email me when you are broken down or passing through? Save this number 610-742-7437 unless I'm sleeping or bumping uglies I'll answer!

No, I'm not spamming the forum. But has anyone else seen this latest snake oil miracle-cure for everything advertised on your favorite, low budget TV channel? You simply attach these pads to the bottom of your feet for a time. And when you remove them, they've drawn every manner of ill and deadly toxins from your body. After all, the proof is there. They're dirty! Well I can guaran-damn-tee you if I stuck something to the bottom of my feet for awhile, they'd come off looking pretty nasty too. I swear, is there no limit to the gullibility of the buying public?

Just an observation,

Those whom post a reply quote to an original post of twenty pics, followed by two or three others like same reply quotes, should be bandwidth throttled down to dial-up speeds for one month.

I'm not following the desire to have the rear be a single piece. My car had tint on the rear when I bought it and it's in two pieces. I didn't even know it was two pieces until years later one corner turned up. The corner that turned up is completely covered by the weather strip when the hatch is closed. The seam follows the one of the defroster lines and disapears. I cut the corner off with a razor blade to keep it from pulling and the rest of the tint still looks fine.

What am I missing?
