YOUR SETUP LOOKS MORE CONVENIENT. WHAT BRAND US IT AND HOW WIDE ARE THE POSTS SET UP? BOLTED TO THE CONCRETE, I SUPPOSE.

You can bolt it to the concrete but, the guys I know don't.

In fact, there's a wheel kit that allows you to move the lift, like out on the driveway to wash down the underside of a car.

Yea, a lot of guys like them, but, I wouldn't buy one for $1,400 when you can get a 4 post for a few dollars more.

http://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/o ... 317-kwiklift-reviews.html

You can get a basic BackYard Buddy for $1,500 on ebay but that doesn't include a bridge.

I just use the standard worm drives.

We use them on the race cars too where the hoses come off way more than a street car.

Never had a problem and I can't recall ever cutting a hose.

Oh yea, I forget his name but, I've seen him before more than once.

BTW, I think you may have misread the first question, It was "Which of these groups has an album on the top 5 of all time list".

Edit, his name is Dick Parry, been playing with Gilmour since the 1960's

Strange things happening on TV concerts:

Was watching David Gilmour

In the middle of the concert he brought out 2/3rds of Crosby Stills and Nash (David & Graham).

But they did kick ass on Shine On You Crazy Diamond.

Never thought I hear CSN sing Pink Floyd.

Fire's 55% contained, still considered active but they are mostly cleaning up hot spots.
Winds today are down to 10-15

Today I can get back to my abby-normal life.

It's been raining non-stop.

I have a little lake in the front yard.

Of course, now there's a "Flash Flood Warning" over by the fire.

Yea, I don't know if that is good or bad but at least they are over fairly quick. Fire and hurricanes blow your nerves due to the waiting.

Tornados, Fire, Hurricanes, Donny and Hallerious , all are just a plague.

That happens more frequently than one might think. Man vulcan with nature.

Probably more so because people are stupid or lazy.
Way more fires here from people's camp sites, kids with matches, people shooting guns where they shouldn't.

I guess the controlled burns usually work, getting the fast burning fuel out from under the trees, etc. But, I seen them cause fires too.

Heck, the last one was caused by an idiot who threw wood stove ashes in a garbage can during high winds. Same valley, came roaring towards us. My neighbor and I stood looking at the ridge to the south and said, "if we see flames there, we're gone.
dense smoke, 6 highway patrol cars came down the street, lights and sirens on.
Then the wind shifted 180, never seen the wind shift like that.

2 of these in 30 years is 2, two many for me.

Rain is dying down but is supposed to return by 11 a.m.

Looks like it's been light rain all night.

20% containment posted on the web but the info on the local news website sucks and not much on the fire command web sites. So, I don't know if we're still on prep for evac.

I do feel WAY better though.

Certainly feel bad for the people who lost their homes.
Those homes were up in the tree line and were expensive places, just below that were upscale horse properties.
The Captain and Tennille's is right there.

They had a controlled burn there 5-6 days ago and that may have started this thing.

Btw, not only is the roof 3/4 in. thick concrete tiles, the siding is concrete or at least a mixture of concrete and something. I know cause I put every piece of it up myself. You have to cut it with a diamond blade on your circular saw and wear a respirator.

I'd load up the 67 but can't figure how to pick up a 700 lb. body and walk it out of the shop..

What is the terrain around the house, Bill? Is it wooded or is there a natural firebreak. Good luck in any case. Wetting everything down sounds like a great idea if it will help. That's what folks do around here. I know hot ashes landing on the roof can ignite a home.

The roof is 3/4 in. thick concrete tiles, don't absorb much water. Deck flooring is old redwood.

No trees, they start about a mile west of me just past the extremely expensive golf course.

This is the foot hills, I'd guess the ridge behind me is 700 to 1,000 feet higher than me.

Unfortunately, the gap between the hills where I am and the valley where the fire's at is a straight shot.
The houses south and west of me are multi-million dollar ones.

Back when the moles destroyed my grass, I decided to put in a circular dirt drive. While I was running the backhoe, I cut a 30-40 ft, firebrake all around the house. The rest pf the property is very flammable sage brush.

Winds are 35-50 right now.
90% chance of some rain tonight. The sooner, the better.

So far, I've seen zero smoke today looking towards the fire.
But that doesn't mean much.

Supposed to be 1,000 fire fighters on the line by this afternoon.

We're on alert all weekend.

The fire is only 5% contained but there's 855 firefighters and 155 engines here.

3460 acres

Windy now and supposed to get worse, blowing towards me.

Nothing great.

The on & off rain is probably done until tomorrow night.

The prep for evac here has been lifted but they state we should be prepared to go on short notice.

The winds calmed down from F'in ridiculous to just high winds. A gust of 87 was recorded here today.
Of course, can't get the airplanes up to fight this thing.

Zero containment.

Have to go thru all this crap again tomorrow.

2 p.m. - Still here

Haven't got a reverse 911 call since 8:30

Fire's grown to 2,000 acres and destroyed 19 homes in the valley south of me.

Another fire started just over the ridge behind my house but at last report it was only 20 acres and they had a line cut around it. Should be contained soon.

AND it's raining on and off, never been so happy to see rain in my life. Helps but, this is far from over, zero containment on the big fire.

Got 2 reverse 911 calls this morning, so far, "Prepare to Evacuate"

Major fire

Major winds, could see gusts of 90mph.

Son of a Bitch.

No cops of fire crews around me yet.

All I have to do is throw the birds in the pickup and haul ass.

Yea, big company.

The Drott StradleLift I ran was a monster, don't know the capacity but it could pick up some entire 40 ft. loads in one shot.

They built the large stuff outside, made doublet beams like for bridges. These could be up to 50 foot long and 8 feet wide, just huge. These were pre-stressed and could bow up to a foot and a half in the center when pulled from the form. Never knew concrete was flexible.

The form were steam heated for faster cure. The pre-stress was laying rope wire cables in the form (some up to 1 inch thick) 3 cables per leg. These cables were then hydraulically pulled to 150,000 lbs. tension.

Once in a while, the cable would kink (the forms were 150 feet long). The only thing they could do was clear everyone out, sound a siren and get a brave sole to cut the cable with a torch.
the cable attached at one end would bow and shoot straight up 150 ft. in the air than, whip around and destroy everything close to it.

Here's how I loaded trucks a long time ago, spent a year between HS and college saving up for a Corvette.

Surprising that I found this pic, it's an actual pic from Nitterhouse Concrete where I worked. I started out running the rigs to be loaded and moved up to running the StradleLift.
Not the same lift I drove, the one I operated had the cab way up almost at the top of the lift.

Gawd Will, that thing sure carries the front end a long way.

I can't see anything more you can do with the disty except make another run and check it.
It's such a bitch with what we do when the only time you can test things is at the track (time and money).
We're in the same boat.

And we had to cancel this weekend's 4 day event because the car owner got a new job.

Noticed the "Antrim Diesel, Greencastle, Pa." sign above the timing lights. I lived in Greencastle for 4 years.

Today's weather quote:

He was the only guy that realized how pissed off we are.

The conservative schmuks inside the beltway don't have a clue. The percentage of Americans who think they're doing a lousy job runs 57% to 75% for many years AND it doesn't sink in to their thought process.

And the liberals are......well they're idiots.

The latest percentage of Americans who think the country is headed in the wrong direction - 75%

Like the big O says "We're doing just fine."

Elliot Management - hedge fund

It's nuts that they can throw so much weight around by owning just 9% of the shares.

They only sold 4% to get that $90 mil

I have a lot of my 401 in the stock market (in big companies not hedge funds) but I don't like the manipulation that goes on with these funds.

However, individuals, funds, groups don't buy shares to see them go down in price.

And I think I'd be a bit leery of living in a town of 6,800 where one company employs 2,000.

Bill, when that happens quote a post. Cut out what's printed and post what you want. Works for me.

Thanks T, but it happens on a regular reply with pics, sometimes without.

Then, I went to off topic and it was OK, go figure.

Doesn't happen on quick reply but you can't post pics with that.
